WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

The relationship between the ABC stuff and the MCU is weird... There was a piece on slash film about people who work on the TV show (like producers) gunning for MCU jobs and there being a lot of conflict between the sides.

It's almost like they don't want to acknowledge it as canon but AoS' ratings kind of force them too

Honestly I think all the basic channels are harsh on ratings. Its not like the old days where you HAVE to watch a show when it comes on tv. Ratings are low do to the fact that most people rather binge watch on netflix or hulu and have better things to do at the time it regularly air. Don't know why ABC, FOX, and NBC don't get that.

And before anyone says it, CBS gets all the good ratings cause all the old people never turn from that channel. My grandma has it on there 24/7.

Yea, the rating system has been outdated. I watch a lot of tv shows but almost never live. I'll try to dvr sometimes so I can watch right away when I get home but most of the time I don't even do that. I'll usually just watch on Hulu the next day

I am sure they understand it, Duchovny's new show on NBC just premired a week or two ago but it can also be binged watched online for free. So they do look into that, AoS rating has just been bad and when Flash is matching or even beating you in the ratings, then there is something wrong because that is a CW show.

At the end of the day, tv shows make money off commercials and advertising so low rating means no ones watching and means those commercials and products aren't being seen so they do lose money on that. There is a reason those guys on Big Bang Theory are making $1m per episode (plus syndication money, TBBT ise everywhere these days like Seinfeld and Friends), their show is constantly getting 20m viewers a night.

I do think it is the other way around with AoS, the films is probably keeping them afloat since it is so connected.

I am not sure how much revenue they make from selling their show to Hulu or streaming it through their website but I could imagine it not being as big as how much commercials pay for 30 second air time.

Iono I follow SR and listen to their podcasts, and it seems as if they invented the supposed feud because of the fact that the movies hasn't really acknowledged the show. I'm not seeing it.

Man don't knock Flash. Show has been pretty good.

Every show isn't going to bring TBBT numbers. I don't know why they expect that. Sure this show is connected to the movies but unless Iron Man was going to be the lead, they wasn't going to do TBBT numbers.

20 million viewers is a great. To think that every show you create will or should pull that in is absurd.

I am not knocking Flash, I like the show a lot and I am one of the few who defends it constantly in the thread

Point is CW rating standards are much lower than than of CBS, NBC and ABC, look at Supernatural on it's 678th season. So if your ABC show is matching or being beat by a CW show in ratings then you have bigger problems and if it weren't connected to such a big blockbuster films it would have been cancelled long ago.

Not saying every show has to pull 20m viewers either, not at all, you misreading what I am writing, that was an example of why there are big bucks on big ratings on these tv shows. No way in hell did I say they go to pull in 20m but AoS debut with 11m-14m? And it plummeted to 3m-4m by the season 2 finale? That is a huge drop off.

AoS is below average ratings for a network that size. They have like CW level ratings

I said aos ratings were real bad and someone was like nah they ain't that bad. For a major network their numbers suck. It would be good if if they were on a beta network like cw.

Regardless of TBBT 4ish Mill an episode is only good by CW standards. Thats cool for them low budget channels. Not for abc.

As for the AoS guys wanting MCU level jobs they can keep dreaming. Everyone in the industry knows that TV aint seen on the same level as movies. Not to mention if you want an MUC level job you should create a MCU level show. Did they think this show would be a great pitch for a part in Civil War or Guardians 2?

They're good enough for the show to get renewed was all I meant

I'm Aware they're usually towards the bottom against the competition  I need to be specific in my post for now on

And that SR is different than I remembered lmao my bad I thought it was a lot more fact based

I read somewhere it was done just to save face. They dont want to tarnish the MCU brand.

Oh no RFX I know YOU don't want 20 mil viewers an episode. You just want it to be a better show.

I honestly think the show would do better somewhere else but with Disney owning ABC it isn't going anywhere.

Wasn't their news about the Netflix shows beefing with the ABC shows?

I don't remember a feud between Netflix and ABC.

As for AoS, ever since the second half of season 1 (after Winter Soldier), I thought the show has been pretty damn good. Introducing the Inhumans and Kree feels like a double sided sword though for season 2, on one hand it is great to learn more about them but it does feel like the importance is somewhat diminished with it debuting outside of the films. Overall though, I enjoyed it and looking forward to season 3 with the Secret Warriors, good to hear they are finally putting less known powered beings to use in the show, exactly what I was hoping when it was announced.

Could it be a better show though, yes! Do I find it more entertaining than Flash? Not really. Do I like it better than Arrow? Yes.

Netflix is where they hit the tv jackpot though.

Kevin Feige was recently quizzed on the current production slate for their upcoming movies, revealing that they "literally just crossed the halfway mark of Civil War last week, it's day 42 or 43 of 80.

We start filming Doctor Strange in London in November.

We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 in February-March [2016].

We start filming Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man around the same time, around June of next year."
