WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Please Spidey would help a ton even though they don't need him. Having Spidey actions scenes alone> any other comic book hero. Imagine him fighting with the avengers in the first movie dropping them goons with webs and acrobatic moves. :wow:

They not hearin us fam

Regardless if we're talking comic Spiderman is Marvel's biggest superhero and the center of Marvel comics.

Ohh you mean the niche activity that is reading comics? Right im sure all 80,000 hardcore comic readers can band up and toss your pocket change at Marvel. Im sure they will halt their production of these movies for that.

Reading comics is such a nich activity that comic readers are lucky they are getting comics at all.

No its not. You are shrouded in delusion if you think it is. Ms. Marvel is not owned by anyone.

But I'm speaking of introducing Ms. Marvel without any origin story. So if that can (and most likely will) happen tell me again why Spiderman can't appear in the film....

I'll wait

Blotters what are you talking about? There are kids that don't even know how to read that know who spiderman is. HE IS MARVEL'S BIGGEST SUPERHERO. COMICS DONT MATTER BUT EVEN STILL THE FACT THAT READING COMICS IS A "NICHE" MARKET AND SPIDERMAN STILL MAKES MONEY THERE SHOWS JUST HOW POPULAR HE IS.

OK folks, I know we like ruffling lk's Spidey senses, but merging of the two biggest marvel movie franchises would be epic.

All these facts presented to you. I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

From the movies, cartoons, video games, toys. All of those things, which are DONE BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER PICKED UP A COMIC far outrank the revenue from the 110,000 $4 issues sold a month.

It's the law of diminishing returns, bruh. The amount of money a movie can make isn't limitless. The idea of being able to triple the amount the Avengers made in 2012 is pretty ridiculous. How do you triple a number that equals a top 5 box office gross of all time? lol

Like I said, if Spiderman can indeed triple whatever the Avengers made, it woudl be back in Marvel's hands by now. It probably would've been nothing for Marvel to drop a billion or whatever to take it off of Sony's hands if it means that Marvel can make 3.2 billion every Avengers movie.

The spidey franchise is currently worth 4 bill (maybe less now that Sony sold all non movie rights) and Avengers made 1.5 bill so but your point is still valid. If they bought spidey for 4 bill so Avengers 2 can make 4.5 bill then it would be worth it to them considering each Avengers movie from then on would make at least that.

With reception of the Sony franchise they would be stupid not to take that.

Even without the law of diminishing returns what extra viewers will they get? Who is sitting at home thinking "I am not going to watch Avengers until Spidey is in the franchise, I'm just going to settle for ASM" No one. Almost every single person watching ASM is seeing the Avengers. Sony's SM is in no position to help Marvel's Avengers. Cap is currently pulling in more than spidey.

Yea, if the Avengers can make 4.5 bil with every movie because of Spiderman, it'd be worth it to them to buy the franchise.

My post was referencing Lamekilla's post saying adding Spiderman would triple what Avengers can make. There's no way you can triple a 1.5 billion dollar movie

I wasn't really talking to you, my bad. It looks that way cuz I posted right after you did.

So Sony's Spiderman is really worth 4 billion? I had no idea.

So how much is Marvel studios worth?!?? :x :x :x :x :x

On the high end. The range is about 3-4 bill according to an article from Forbes published last year.

IDK what Marvel Studios is worth but every film in Phase 3 so far has made 700M except for Guardians, which is on its way. From 2016 on they are releasing 3 a year. And they likely make as much from cartoons and merch as well so a **** ton.

I think nearly everyone here wants to see Spiderman with the Avengers just as badly, but we also see reality.

I want to see it happen, but it has to be well executed also ... and I'd be pretty mad if he just pops up in an Avengers movie out of the blue with no groundwork laid out

Marvel = comic book movie juggernaut

I kinda wish they would lay off the 3 a year strategy

I'm always afraid of oversaturating the market to the point where people will get tired of comic book movies

So blotters what's your point? Because you're proving mine with the fact that Spiderman is the most popular Marvel superhero with the comic book crowd AND the non-comic book crowd

I was exaggerating when I said triple what Avengers 1 earned but I feel like the reception would be so overwhelmingly positive that the movie would make tons.

That I agree with. They should sell a piece back to marvel and be silent partners.

This may have already happened...

Even without the law of diminishing returns what extra viewers will they get? Who is sitting at home thinking "I am not going to watch Avengers until Spidey is in the franchise, I'm just going to settle for ASM" No one. Everyone who's seen Avengers 1 will see Avengers 2. The movie won't make money attracting new audiences but from that same audience watching it over and over. Add spiderman to the film and add an extra 3 "over and over"

So blotters what's your point? Because you're proving mine with the fact that Spiderman is the most popular Marvel superhero with the comic book crowd AND the non-comic book crowd

He is not even close to the highest with the non comic book crowd. How Am I proving you point by saying IM makes almost double than SM in the movie crowd and you need to add spideys cartoon crowd just to compare?

Cap made more than spidey, Guardians will very likely make more than spidey, IM makes a lot more than spidey. Avengers also makes a **** ton more than spidey.

I said a billion times Spidey isnt nowhere near as popular to non comic fans as these other heroes. You keep twisting it in your head to mean the opposite of what I said. You keep thinking that the comic book crown matters. You don't. the 120k people who make spidey the most succesful Marvel comic book has nothing on the tens of millions of people who make the movies what they are. This is a business and Disney/Marvel Studios don't even look at you. If they did the IM and Thor franchises wouldnt be ******* on by they fans like they are.

Spiderman fans are already in the watching Avengers over and over crowd. No individual hero besides maybe IM made the Avengers film. Laughable that you think people watching spidey are not watching Avengers multiple times.

The likelihood that you see Star Wars and Avengers merge cinematic universes is next to nothing, yet infinitely higher than spidey and Avengers merging.

Out of boredom at work, I googled civil war and marvel cinematic universe, and this was one of the results:

Is Marvel Building Up To A ‘Civil War’ Movie?
Though there are a variety of factors preventing a Civil War movie, none are insurmountable, according to some fans.
Among fans of Marvel’s cinematic universe, there are few questions that will stir more debate than whether the studio plans to address the iconic Civil War storyline. While many consider it an impossibility, some are detailing the roadmap by which it may be possible.

Writing for MoviePilot, Alisha Grauso lays out the main points for why a Civil War movie may be a reality. First, the point that is so often cited by fans: Marvel doesn’t own the rights to all of the key characters. Yet, as Grauso points out, they own the rights to the two who are most indispensable, Captain America and Iron Man. Many of the secondary characters in the storyline can be either left out (as in the case of the X-Men, who were neutral in the comic), or have their roles assigned to other superheroes that Marvel owns. All except, that is, for one other key character.

The rights to Spider-Man, around whom the Civil War storyline turns, are currently owned by Sony, yet as MoviePilot notes, the two studios already enjoy a healthy working relationship. While Marvel and Fox have at times endured an acrimonious relationship over properties like X-Men, Sony was a key player in bringing Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s summer blockbuster, to the screen. The groundwork, therefore, it already laid for a partnership between the studios.

This is worth reading! Awesome! http://t.co/xqUTRWcfLr @moviepilotnews @AlishaGrausoMP pic.twitter.com/8IiuQlLaPM

Sony also doesn’t plan to bring Spider-Man back to the screen until 2018, while Marvel has announced that it intends to up its yearly output to three films annually over the course of the next few years, as The Inquisitr has previously noted. In this, Grauso sees a split between the Marvel cinematic universe and the Marvel cosmic universe, of which Guardians of the Galaxy would be the first film.

The deduction made in the MoviePilot piece is that the current Infinity Gauntlet storyline, which has threaded its way through previous Marvel cinematic offerings, will be moved to the cosmic universe, with upcoming films like Dr. Strange, The Inhumans, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 taking it up. This would open the Marvel cinematic universe, which takes place on Earth, for a new storyline. Add to this the rumor that Captain America will be forming his own, new team of Avengers after Age of Ultron, and the character divide that drives Civil War seems to be in the works.

Anthony & Joe Russo say a #Marvel Civil War movie is “highly unlikely” Read more at http://t.co/A4aPg3YZa6 pic.twitter.com/95hqFaVPfC

Idigitaltimes asserts that rumors suggesting Civil War as the basis for Captain America 3 are false, though in quoting Joe Russo, co-writer and co-director of The Winter Soldier, they point out that the movie will have a “big idea” at its center that alters the Marvel universe in an interconnected way.

According to Russo’s interview with CinemaBlend, however, that idea won’t be Civil War.

“It’s complex. There are a lot of characters. Marvel doesn’t have ownership of some of the key players in that. [...] I don’t run Marvel, so I can’t say that it won’t happen, but I would say that it is highly unlikely.”

While the possibility that Civil War may be the long-term plan at Marvel is still conjecture, fans can check out Grauso’s full assessment, and decide for themselves exactly where they think the Marvel universe is headed.

Interesting read

Cliffnote:

Rumored partnership between Sony and Marvel

Marvel will divide into a marvel cinematic universe (maybe something similar to civil war) to marvel cosmic universe (inhumans, gotg, thanos, infintiy gauntlet)

I didn't know Sony was "a key player" in helping make GotG happen. I will read more about this.

^ I'd actually like some details when sites just say stuff like that. How were they a key player? I mean I could imagine a different article saying some other company was a key player in the movie happening without explaining it at all. Universal was a key player. Hell, go hard for confusion and say Warner Bros. was a key player.

Spider-Man is Marvel Comics biggest character. Makes total sense he'd be front and center. Marvel Comics owns Spidey and can still do w/e they want with him. Has nothing to do with the movies. The art is for the 75th year anniversary of Marvel comics. Has nothing to do with the studio.
So you gonna act like SONY didn't sign away all of the Spidey rights (animated, merch, etc.) that aren't the movies to Marvel so that they could basically keep the film rights forever?

I mean what happened to that weak rumor about an Oscorp building in Avengers? :nerd: I'd be disappointed if Marvel studios allowed themselves to be involved with that weak *** Green Goblin SONY is trying to sell.

Can you quote somebody about that whole working close with Marvel? If anything sounds like they're reassuring fans so that they don't get anywhere near the debacle that might be the Fantastic Four since they're not working closely at all with Marvel. As it stands now the current incarnation of the Marvel cinematic universe can't mesh with SONY's Spidey world in the least. There'd need to be a reboot on both sides and there won't cuz dudes are planning movies well in to 2020. At best you might get a crossover the way one universe of heroes meets another and right now that's still a stretch.

Keep dreaming bruh.
The box office #s aint really showing that though

As things stand now, being affiliated with Marvel studios is more important than any one hero.

His appearance wouldn't triple earnings of anything  You talking like the ASM movies made a billion each on their own  Compared to Marvel lets be serious.

Zik, I urge you to look at that 75th anniversary pic in depth. That is the main picture. Look at the characters on the picture, these are characters that Marvel has planned films around.
There's nothing in depth to look at. Marvel comics used some of the movie characters, other Marvel heroes, and Spidey for a poster.

If the picture was based SOLELY on popularity black bolts wack *** wouldn't be there, Falcon, Ms. Marvel, Groot, rocket, star-lord over Wolverine, cyclops, the thing.
I think you should pay attention more before you go on with this nonsense reaching theory. Black Bolt has a comic called Inhuman (there's a huge Inhuman comic push going on right now that's coming before any movie), Captain Marvel has a solo comic, Groot is in GOTG and one of the main talked about stars, Falcon is the new Captain America with his own solo comic, Rocket has his own solo comic too. Not to mention Wolverine is dying this month and the X-Men are about to go under a huge change story wise by next year.

But even if I were to go with they used the movie characters to promote the comics anniversary so what? That doesn't mean a Spidey merger with SONY is coming or any sort of crossover. Like I said which you keep ignoring, SONY sold everything back to Marvel but the film rights so that they could keep it without that whole reverting stuff. With that agreement in place, unlike with the X-Men and F4, Marvel can go hard on once again promoting their most popular character. You have to understand the relationship Marvel has with FOX is one of the main impediments to what you're reading too much in to.

But they are and the characters on there are all involved in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project right? Iron fist, check. Black bolt, check. Avengers, check. Ms. Marvel if you've read avengers 2 rumors check. So I ask you where does Spiderman fit in? ...
Again this has more to do with Marvel not going out of their way to promote X-Men and F4 in a group poster than anything else.

I want you to keep in mind you're entire cockamamie theory is based off of an anniversary poster. Not even a credible rumor.
As for the oscorp tower appearance I thought it would've been great.
You miss my point. It didn't happen cuz it never was going to happen. It was a bull **** rumor. Just like the rumors that Osborn was gonna be in IM3 in the Iron Patriot armor.

And if these early rumblings of a civil war (which I've been clamoring for since forever) are true then like you know civil war along with the rest of the Marvel universe can't really happen without spiderman.
Yes it definitely can. BTW all these civil war "rumblings" are fan generated or by comic/movie sites that are strictly speculating.
The reason ASM and ASM 2 hasn't made "huge" money is because of viewers still being obsessed with the Raimi version and feeling like the same story is being rehashed but both ASM and ASM2 have made 700 mil world wide each.
This is just more bull **** and doesn't help your argument at all. According to you, Spidey fans still hold the Raimi version in higher regard than the current version and have decided not to come out in droves and support it.

That is not an excuse. You've just admitted ASM is simply not good enough. If all it's done is got you to be obsessed with the Weber version why should Marvel bother with this when they'd do much better if they simply owned the Spidey rights?

It has nothing to do with SONY rebooting after a short period of time right after they canceled SM4 & 5? or with the movies simply not being as good in comparison or that good superhero movies compared to the competition?
That is still a successful film franchise but still a little shy of the money the first spiderman films were taking in.
An Avengers and GotG movie will make more money than an Avengers and Spidey film at this point. Don't lie or come with hyperbole when you're talking. 3x? You sound delusional. If the current Spidey flicks were that good they'd be making a billi on their own.

All I'm saying is that Sony and Marvel have a good relationship.
Cuz SONY gave up those merch rights.
They were already one step away from having Avengers and ASM in the same universe.
According to who?

Both studios are working with each other for Spiderman expanded movie universe (can't find the quote but someone has to know what I'm speaking of)
No they're not. SONY is working with Marvel the same way FOX works with Marvel. Marvel has guys to consult with these dudes when they're ready to reveal what their movies are about to be about. That's been common practice.

Marvel studios is not working with SONY in their Spider-Man movie expansion. As of right now, there have been no reports that they're involved with ASM4, Venom, S6, or the female solo movie.

marvel even canceled EMH to make a new Avengers cartoon just so it can take place in the same world as The ultimate Spiderman cartoon.
Marvel canceled EMH so they could make a new Avengers cartoon more like the movies. Due to SONY giving up those animation rights, Marvel launched ultimate Spidey which isn't ANYTHING like the ASM universe. Please stop reaching. Now that they own both and are doing shows for both it only makes sense that they're in the same universe. Same goes for that Hulk show and the upcoming GotG cartoon.

He's an honorary Avenger in that show. He's met the guardians about twice in that show and I think there's an episode with the inhumans coming up soon.......this isn't a coincidence. In the least....
It isn't coincidence that Marvel wants cohesiveness with their cartoon shows. That doesn't mean Spidey is gonna be in the Avenger movies. Only way that happens is if Disney buys SONY and gets the rights back that way.

At this point though, I can see like you're irrational love for ASM2, you won't get off this poorly put together theory until somebody directly asks Feige if Spider-Man will be in Avengers movies and he says no so consider me done here.

Nothing you have said has been convincing in the least and it is literally based off of nothing.

Apparently part of Sony's team worked with Marvel on the visual effects

CULVER CITY, Calif., August 18, 2014 – The onscreen universe of Marvel Studios' August 1st release Guardians of the Galaxy appeared more expansive, immersive and complex, thanks in part to the collaborative efforts of Sony Pictures Imageworks—the Academy Award[emoji]174[/emoji] winning visual effects and digital character animation company—which completed 88 shots for the film while working in tandem with lead VFX facility MPC. The VFX shots—which included creating and extending CG environments, both interiors (the engine room of the Dark Aster spaceship) and exteriors (deep space and encountering atmosphere during entry)—were worked on by Imageworks teams in both Culver City and Vancouver, B.C., all under the leadership of Pete Travers, Sony Pictures Imageworks VFX Supervisor on the project.Travers says, "Our work on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was probably the quickest we've ever turned anything around for any of our clients—it was also some of the most artistically satisfying, because of our continuing collaboration with both Marvel and MPC, which deepens with every project. I also think this is one of Marvel's boldest projects, and it was really fun to work on."Imageworks' shots are concentrated in the final reel of the film, and were all completed inside of eight weeks, during May and June of 2014. Travers comments, "With such tight time constraints, there was no room for 2D experimentation. Anything that really needed a full 3D build, got one. Our experience with Marvel was great, because they perfectly prepped our files, and their notes were always on point and easy to implement. The whole time, we were in sync with MPC, because we worked on everything together."Victoria Alonso, EVP of VFX & Post Production at Marvel, says, "We continue to come to Imageworks for not only the artistic expertise and talent, but also because we've developed a professional rapport with their VFX teams, which comes in very useful during those last weeks of post-production. We know that they will deliver quality on-time."
