Kang would be to the Avengers what Apocalypse will be for X-Men.

Marvel would be so on point with Kang.

Marvel is entering dangerous territory though.

As much of a fanboy as all of us are, if they get too deep into their plotlines ripped from the current comics, they could lose the "uninformed" audience. If they don't go deep enough they could lose us.

They really gotta play their cards right with these upcoming movies.

It's already been shown that they don't have to adhere to the comics 100%. Take certain elements and do their own thing with it.

Not very familiar with the comics but is Kang considered below or above Thanos in terms of threat level?

I forget his origin, but it's nothing fantastic. Time travelling gawd is how I'd sum him up.

He was born in the future as well. I believe he just like travelling to different time periods and conquering the world in that period. Hence his name Kang The Conqueror.

Just off the top of my head...

Kang is a time traveller from the 31st Century and wanted to either shape the world to his favor by time travelling back, and/or destroy the avengers because of something they do/create that ruins the future.

Kang is a super interesting character because he potentially could be on par with Thanos as a threat because he understands the time stream, crazy intelligent, and has 31st century weapons.

He had 3 incarnations I know of: Kang, Rama-tut, and Immortus.

Rama-tut is interesting because I believe Kang time travelled back to ancient Egypt to become Rama-tut and enslave the egyptian civilization. Also interesting is that En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) was coming into power at the same time and posed a major threat to Rama-tut(Kang).

Immortus is interesting too because he becomes the custodian of the time stream because he's basically Kang who lived until all time stopped. He's actually in one of the X-men TAS cartoons where Bishop ends up in the time stream trying to stop Apocalypse and meets Immortus.

Anybody interested in this type of stuff I highly recommend the Avengers Forever Trade.

The Avengers had nothing to do with it from what I remember. He traveled back to this century and met up with Dr. Doom for whatever reason. He sought to go back to his time in the 30th century, and some Stan Lee science occurred and he ended up in the 40th century. He conquered the people of that time and got bored (the 40th century was a barbaric, dying world), so he wanted to travel back again and he eventually met up and got washed by the Avengers.

Depends.

I'd say slightly below but not by a lot.

Kang went through phases to become as great and powerful as he is. Son basically conquers whole timelines. He has and can be defeated though. Took over all of America in the comics once. In other timelines he's taken over the whole worlds. He can time travel on a whim so it's close to impossible to kill him.

Story wise though, there's just been more and better stories with Thanos which is why it isn't a surprise he's getting the first shot in the big movies.

In an Agent of Shield ep.

So there's potential to use him.

Solid Agent Carter episode. Getting a little worried about the outcome of the season though.

Only qualms is it looks like they tried so the hard to make the movie look grounded that it doesn't look like a superhero flick

It looked to me like they wanted to do Sci Fi with it, which is the only thing it has going for it. Which now that I think of it might be part of the reason it looked like the first Interstellar trailer.

Time travel flicks are too easy to mess up tho. Too easy to have you thinking "why doesnt he just do x, y, or z instead". But I believe in Marvel so I still want it

Graviton was introduced somewhere in the first 7 episodes. Was a solid early episode.

Yeah they could be easy to mess up, but like you, I believe in Marvel. Also, they wouldn't even have to explain all that time travel stuff. All they gotta explain is that he mastered the ability to do it. I just want a smart story coming from Kang. They could have Stark & Banner discussing all the science behind it and stuff. I'd love to see Stark suffer with the idea of not having the most up to date tech, and seeing what he could do with tech he doesn't understand. With Kang, we could see some futuristic weapons and all that. What the MCU could look like in his future. Endless things. And he doesn't have to be stretched out as long as Thanos is.

Its not usually in the explanation that they mess up anyway. Its usually that they take one action when they should've taken another.

I also wanna see Korvac too. Seems like Marvel is more concerned about setting up Cosmic Universe than A3 with GotG. Wouldnt be surprised if they have seperate big bads at the end of Phase 3. Korvac for CU and Kang for the Avengers. Also that would avoid the repetitive nature of bringing CU down to earth at the end of every story arc.

I think Fox own the rights to Kang.

Nathaniel Richards, a scholar born in the 30th century, becomes fascinated with history and discovers the time travel technology created by Victor von Doom.[2] Richards then travels back in time to ancient Egypt c. 2950 B.C., aboard a Sphinx-shaped timeship, to become the Pharaoh Rama-Tut, with intentions of claiming En Sabah Nur—the mutant destined to become Apocalypse—his heir.

He was F4 villain first.

Hopefully its shared rights like SW and QS.

Kang designs an armor based on Doom's using 40th century technology, and again travels to the 20th century, thus creating an alternate timeline: Earth-689. Calling himself the Scarlet Centurion, he manipulates the Avengers from this timeline — the original team — into apprehending all heroes and villains (following their first encounter with the Space Phantom). The Centurion transports the Avengers from Earth-616 to his timeline, hoping that they will defeat their Earth-689 equivalents, and can then be disposed of. They are able to force the Centurion from this timeline, after which Uatu reveals that he is Kang. He battles the Squadron Supreme on an alternate Earth. The Centurion returns to his home century, and reinvents himself as Kang the Conqueror.

People are saying she's Yelena Belova. In the comics, she's the second Black Widow. In this show, she may be the OG Black Widow. She could've been the one who shot the agent in the last episode. She could also be a Russian spy or whatever and she's sent on a mission to track down Stark. Nobody really knows yet.

No they don't. They might own the rights to Rama-Tut though. So that could be like a QS and SW situation.

Kang's first appearance as Kang was in Avengers books. There's 5 versions of dude though; Rama-Tut that faced F4, Scarlet Centurion, Kang, Ironlad that debuted in Young Avengers, and Immortus.

I read that and thought "You mean characters that havent been introduced yet would have no meaning to moviegoers? You dont say indifferent.gif

Still I wonder how the comics would retcon this to match the mcu

hell I am still wondering why the MCU and the comics have to match. If you think anything will be exactly like the source material you are an idiot. Even GoT is taking liberties

A lil info on that chick that stole dudes gun in the Agent Carter episode

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

IGN: It is safe to say that Dottie is a Black Widow?

Michele Fazekas: That’s correct! She is a product of the Black Widow Program.

IGN: Let me get the second big question out of the way that comic book fans familiar with Black Widow’s history have wondered. Might Dottie also go by the name Yelena Belova?

Fazekas: No.

IGN: Okay. So just Dottie for now?

Butters: She’s Dottie for now. And the fact is, the great and exciting thing for us is we’re showing the precursor to the Black Widow Program, as you will see in the upcoming episode, 105.
