WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

A few people predicted that. With how succesful their own showing was I am not surprised. Having their own convention made sure that they were in the news with no real competition.

Also isnt their biannual D23 Expo this year? They'll prolly want to do it there

The Mk XX Python should've THE main movie armor and not a House Party throwaway :smh:

I agree but I feel like they will stick to red being his primary color. But that would definitely be sick!

Maybe in a nonavengers movie?

New Spidey?

All speculation of course but let's get the rumormill started this early Monday morn!

Obviously this could turn out to be nothing to do with Spider-Man, but it's worth a bit of speculation for a quiet Monday morning. 21-year-old British actor Sam Strike (formerly of UK soap Eastenders) has landed a big US movie role, and many seem to think that it could be our new Spidey. There's no real evidence to support this, but he's the right age, has the right look, and if you take a look at his Instagram page there are several superhero-related pics, including one of Strike in a Spidey mask with the caption "I'm Spider-Man".

21 is a very good age. He could theoretically be Spidey for a very long time and grow up with the role.

But, who is he? That the dude in the Kingsmen movie?

One of the most epic toys I've ever seen....there are companies that make amazing statues, like some of the transformers, but they are not usually articulated, this thing you can even open up the head and have a mk43 inside displayed....*****ing sick

Apparently, this says there's extra accessories and another battle mode they can't show yet due to spoilers. I wonder what it can be.

Nah, different dude. Eastender is supposedly a very popular soap opera in the UK and I think he just left the show and all of a sudden this "big US movie" news came about so they are kind of making a big deal of it, probably more so over in the UK and it just picked up steam from there.

It really could be anything but the working out and supposedly his posts on Instagram/twitter shows he is huge comicbook fan and even posted himself in a Spidey mask last year (though that was way before the Sony-Marvel Spidey merger) so who really knows?

I see I see. Kinda surprised to see a rumor that doesn't involve Logan Lerman or O'Brien but I'm open to it.

According to LatinoReview, he might be going to Fox but what big role would it be?

.@SamStrike probably got cast in either X-MEN: APOCALYPSE or DEADPOOL because (cont)...

They also said marvels looking for a Super young Spidey, 15 years old, which might be too difficult to pull off by someone in their twenties to late teens? Like even Logan Lerman doesn't quite look like a 15 year old. Might even be a stretch for O'Brien? He looked kind of old in the Maze Runner.

SPIDER-MAN is still actively casting & reading a lot of teen actors to play 15 yrs old. Yes, they're going that young per agency sources. RT

Hmm. It's going to be a tall order to find an actor closer to true age like that. Even on these teen TV shows you got twenty yr Olds playing 16 year olds.

*edit

I just realized, the one channel where they do have teens playing teens is Disney Channel, or Nickelodeon. Disney owns Marvel.

Hmmmmmm

I don't think they are looking for that age of actor but an actor that actually looks like that unlike the MTV teens that has six packs and full grown c-cups.

I think Obrien just looks too old based on Maze Runner. That's him right?

The only one I can remember that looks like a legit lil-kid is the dude from Enders Game and Hugo, Asa Butterfield, currently 17 yrs old.

Dude is tall though (by Hollywood standards as he towers Emile Hirsch?) but still looks like a lanky little kid (pic from just last year).

Nah, no to the dude from Enders Game.

But if that's the age range they are looking to cast, Disney will be able to find someone. That's what they do.
They regularly cast in that 12-19 age range. Occasionally, you'll have some 20 year old outliers that act in their shows but that's really rare

15? Damn, O'Brien prolly can't pull that off. Glad they're making him young though.

I thought we at least were all on the same pg when they said they wanted a teen Spidey. I mean it wasn't going to be 19. 15 seems right in the middle.

Makes no sense rumoring about a guy who is 21 now. He'll be 22 or 23 when the movie comes out and all we've kept hearing is they want a teenage Spidey. Which is why I didn't get all the rumors for all those other mid 20s actors ppl kept going with.

Seen people compare this movie to Apple leaving MacWorld to do their own events and we all know how big they've become.. Comic Con probably benefits more from Marvel then Marvel does from SDCC at this point

Nah, SDCC will still be crowded as hell even without Marvel studios.

I honestly wish what you say is true because SDCC has become more of a Hollywood showing than an actual comic-book-oriented convention for comic book fans. Then maybe it'll be easier to get some tickets.

I a curious if Marvel just plans to have their own conferences themselves but that only really worked last time because they were announcing the whole slate of Phase 3 films. I am not sure they could do that annually when only promoting one or two upcoming films like they usually do at SDCC? I mean I am sure they can make a spectacle out of it but they're going to have to bring some substance, much more than they usually show at SDCC.

I was beating myself up about not being able to go to SDCC. I was thinking they'd tease some Spiderman at Marvel kinda stuff for sure.

^That bottom Spidey/IM gif is crazy. I wish I knew how to cut footage like that

Still dont understand the need to reacast for Spiderman. I thought Andrew Garfield was perfect for a young Spider Man/Peter Parker. How much younger can they possibly go without screwing the character up?
