Marvel leaving SDCC might do a lot of good for other properties too.. Marvel literally dominates the headlines of SDCC even when they have a down year.

And you can always announce castings, debut footage etc.. They didn't even touch on the Netflix stuff at their event, imagine how much time they could devote to that once the "Defenders" team is set.

Wow, no Marvel at SDCC :wow:

I think that's horrible.
I think it's smart.

It's just no Marvel studios at SDCC. I bet a few ppl from the tv show will show up like AOS guys and Daredevil.

Let the comic convention go back being for the comics. Maybe all those fans expecting some movie announcement will then go and check out new Marvel comics news.

The studio now has it's own platform to make it's own announcements, sell their own tickets and all that. Plus it probably doesn't even have to be held in one place all the time. Next one might be in the Chi then NYC, and a few other cities if they want.

They were only able to make SDCC appearance long because of the panel, without that it'll be like a 30 minute show max. Hell I think that Phase 3 conference was maybe that long, maybe an hour? And that had an announcement of so much films.

Agents of Shield and Netflix shows might actually be at SDCC come to think of it, they aren't really part of Marvel Studios? They'll probably plaster Agent Bewbs in all their banners and announce the second season?

Nah, SDCC will still be crowded as hell even without Marvel studios.

I honestly wish what you say is true because SDCC has become more of a Hollywood showing than an actual comic-book-oriented convention for comic book fans. Then maybe it'll be easier to get some tickets.

I a curious if Marvel just plans to have their own conferences themselves but that only really worked last time because they were announcing the whole slate of Phase 3 films. I am not sure they could do that annually when only promoting one or two upcoming films like they usually do at SDCC? I mean I am sure they can make a spectacle out of it but they're going to have to bring some substance, much more than they usually show at SDCC.
That's another thing. Now they don't have to do stuff annually or feel forced to. They can save up announcements for their own events and when they don't want to do what they been doing by announcing stuff and let the internet go wild.

I bet the cast of Inhumans and who is playing Cap Marvel gets announced all at the same time similar to how Boseman came out announced as Black Panther.

Eh, I like it that they are forced to do it every year. It's something to look forward to and at least we get something solid and confirmed than just leaks and here-says throughout the whole year or some dude telling us the slate of films based on who is drawn on a poster. :smh:

I don't think the length of the event even matters  Tickets will still be bought.

Just fill up time with new posters and art, then a sneak peak at GotG2 or Civil War or w/e.

The event they hold when they show an Infinity War trailer will be worth the price of admission alone.

I didn't like them being forced to do stuff and Feige probably realizes they're at point where they don't have to be forced to do anything. Don't want to go through the same ol same ol and hassle of SDCC, fine just don't go and do your own thing.

Plus the way I saw it last year, we didn't get a whole lot but there was always NYCC in a few months anyway.

True

That's a strong con.

New Spidey?

All speculation of course but let's get the rumormill started this early Monday morn!

Obviously this could turn out to be nothing to do with Spider-Man, but it's worth a bit of speculation for a quiet Monday morning. 21-year-old British actor Sam Strike (formerly of UK soap Eastenders) has landed a big US movie role, and many seem to think that it could be our new Spidey. There's no real evidence to support this, but he's the right age, has the right look, and if you take a look at his Instagram page there are several superhero-related pics, including one of Strike in a Spidey mask with the caption "I'm Spider-Man".

Observers review of Daredevil! Can't wait!

"I know it’s still early in the year, but I’m calling it now: The most beautifully choreographed fight scenes of 2015 will be on Netflix, courtesy of Marvel’s Daredevil. We’ve seen the first four episodes, and this show is like no other comic book adaption on the small screen yet. The beauty of Netflix is the freedom it allows—Daredevil gets as dark as the source material requires. It’s so dark, it’s almost a better Batman show than Gotham, and that show actually has Batman in it. If nothing else, Daredevil will rule the comic book TV landscape for years to come."

This was expected :smokin

Do they not watch Banshee? That show has some beautiful choreographed fight scenes too. Sex scenes as well.

At this point Marvel has to be Disney's best purchase. 7.16 Billion in box office (not including Big Hero 6), Odin only knows how much in merch sales, and they about to takeover Netflix as well :smokin. All on a $4 billion purchase.

If it ain't the best then Pixar prolly ahead in ROI thanks to cars merch.

Lol, wow the hype is real for DD

Hopefully it'll deliver

I'm not really a fan of the super dark, no humor stuff so I don't think DD is going to be a favorite of mine, but I will be watching.

Ganna catch up on Mark Waids run of Daredevil to prepare for the series. Bendis' and Brubaker's runs were god level,no disrespect to Frank.
