WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Wouldn't all this net Disney some billions and they could just buy out Sony and etc for X-Men and Spiderman by the time they reach Phase 3.

Fox has a death grip on their characters.

Sony on the other hand, while I'm not a mind reader, they have to be wavering.. *cue jack nicholson gif

Though they expected/wanted more from the ASM2, it still made plenty of money for them.

Unless Marvel buys it for a crazy amount that it saves Sony from it's financial problems or they get a good enough percentage by lending Spidey to Marvel, I just don't see it happening.

It's still a cash cow and adding popular fan favorites like Venom or Carnage to the mix will still make them bank.

Keep in mind that ASM isn't doing Green lantern numbers.

They bought all of Marvel for 4 bill and all of Star Wars for 4 bill. By 2016 they will be making 2bill + a year off three marvel movies. Why would they buy Spidey, also valued at around 3 bill (tho it is likely less now with all these mishaps). Compared to all their other investments, Spidey would be trash in comparison.

Marvel's Spiderman wouldnt be trash tho..

didnt they just kill wolverine in the comics. wonder if they stay killing fox owned movie characters and force their hand a few years down the road. i think sony will fold eventually and give spidey back.

Xmen is still one of their best selling comic from what I read and they keep crossing over with Avengers so I doubt they'd kill those books anytime soon.

Wolverine isn't going to stay dead, if anything his death just makes him bigger especially his return.

Im talking about investmentwise. The return on Marvel Studios is ridiculous. It will probably go down as one of the best of all time. Star Wars return is also going to be ridiculous. I wouldnt be surprised if by 2030 there are more Star Wars films netting over a billion dollars than non star wars films

Then for almost as much they should buy spidey for 3 bill and make 700M-1B every 3 or so years?

IMO if Marvel Studios had control over Spidey their return would be much more than what SONY is bringing in. Id say buy him.

Marvel doesnt do year after year sequels. Even if they net 1.5B each spidey movie, it would be a good return but it still wont be touching Marvel or Star Wars.

Other than Avengers, Marvel is doing about as well as spidey at the box office with their other properties, save IM. Doubt they would net much more than what Sony is.

They already got all the merchandising rights for Spidey and they are making bank off of that w/o investing hundreds of millions on the film that may or may not flop. Risk is pretty low and money are huge on toys and merchandise.

I mean just look at the slate of films Marvel has and each guaranteed $500m to a bil on the box office at this point before merchandising and product placements money.

I'd really rather Spidey just stay where they are right now and let Marvel roll with what they got (especially introducing lesser know heroes/properties), they clearly know what they are doing.

Good point. The reason to buy Spidey would be rights to the Merch, which they already have. Spidey aint going nowhere.

The good thing about this for spidey fans is if Sony gets their act together, which is a possibility, you'll see a good spidey movie every year. That would not happen at Marvel

So what do you guys should come next after Phase 3 is done?

I mean Infinity Wars 1 & 2 has got to be huge and amazeballs but what can Marvel do afterwards to top that?

Civil War is going to be done before before IW, probably the second most popular?

Secret Wars? Annihilation? World War Hulk? That last one might be inevitable.

Other good arcs are centered or heavily involves Spidey, XMen or F4 so those might be out of the question.

I am drawing blank atm so I wouldn't mind seeing a discussion on it. I'm talking about a universal event/storyline though, not singular hero arcs.

What do you guys think or would like to see?
Other than what you mentioned they can do their own version of Secret Invasion, Dark Reign (with the Kingpin in charge instead of Osborn), Siege, they can definitely do Fear Itself, they might be able to make a way better version of Maximum Security, etc.

Plus there's a chance they can take singular hero arcs and blow them up like the Avengers involvement in the Kree/Skrull (or add in alien race Marvel owns) war.

I think we already clarified that Disney couldn't buy SONY cuz they're based in Japan. Plus if they could I doubt the Japanese would even be selling. As already said they got everything they wanted from SONY Spidey wise, doubt they shell out billions for movie rights.

I've been rooting for secret invasion. Also a Masters of Evil arc where Baron Zemo sets up an anti-Avengers group. I thought they did a good job with that in the cartoons.

Get Enchantress to face Thor
Baron Zemo for Cap
Some armored villain for IM
etc etc etc

As for the next big event or whatever, they could include something that involves clones. I should add that clones are one of the weakest gimmicks in the comic book world. Cheap drama.

Strongly agree. This may just be my but for someone reason clones make my stomach turn. I remember as a kid I stopped watching the Spiderman Cartoon because of the Gwen Stacy clone. There's something so unnatural about it that it sickens me

Lowkey think Annihilation will be done in Phase 4.. Think the MCU will be more comic orientated by then.

Do you think they could run two of these type of events simultaneously?

It'll prolly be something cosmic. Earth (New York) needs a break from the world ending threats
