Either way, it looks better than I imagined.

Probably more of a suit as it is functional?

Technically in the movie world none of the things they wear are considered costume? Most are functional or can be considered more of a uniform like Shields suits. IMs is a functional suit, Thors battle armor or just typical Asgardian clothes, Caps looks functional and provides some protection to him, and same with BWs spandex. Even Hawkeyes dress can be considered as some protection of sorts.

Only Winter Soldier/Heroic Age Cap suit is a uniform. Every other cap suit is a costume and a clown costume at that. To bad they are going back to costume cap in Avengers the only place Cap's costume can be considered a uniform is a theme park

I'm definitely glad they kept the suit from the test footage. I loved it since I first saw it and didn't think they really needed to change anything.
