WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

There's a new Peter Parker cuz that's the way Feige wanted it.

The SONY Spidey flicks under performed and the entire continuity got ditched.

It's not a big surprise that they went pretty young given Garfield's Parker was a HS graduate.

They only went that way because Garfield wasn't on board anymore. Let's not act like Sony didn't have a say in this either Zik...

You're telling me?! Bro that scene conveyed so much emotion. Especially when you see all the kissy mushy things that Pete and Gwen did in the movie. It's like you didn't think that they would play out the whole "Death of Gwen Stacy" arc that soon. So when it's coming and you see the web reach out for Gwen :smh: :wow: very touching and great cinematography from Marc Webb.

...but then you have NT where they think a Racoon that didn't have any clout with comic readers until Bendis' run is so amazing because he curses and grabs his crotch. Told NT everyone would be team Spiderman when he finally becomes part of the MCU and was labeled crazy, blah blah.... My how times have changed :D

Andrew Garfield was originally suppose to be Peter Parker in the MCU but slighted the Sony CEO and Sony chose to go another direction which I think was ultimately for the best BUT Andrew Garfield as of right now was the best on screen interpretation of Peter/Spiderman. Yeah he wasn't as "nerdy" as he should've been but he was actually funny. He wasn't a crybaby like say Tobey Maguire

I've always told people that Garfield played the Peter that's more realistic of this generation. The nerds of today looked like him in ASM1. I completely love and respect Tobey but he never really did it for me. The story and filming of his movies were iconic (1&2 specifically) but Garfield embodied it for me. And he was a 100x the better Spider-Man that Tobey was.

But yeah, Peter and Gwen's relationship was brought together so well on the screen. Great chemistry. I remember just dreading the scene. I didn't want it to happen. Especially because at the time we were anticipating a ASM3 and I was thinking that the movies wouldn't be the same without her. I was thinking man.. What if they'd make Emma Stone Mary Jane too? I would've pegged her for a great MJ before ASM1 came out. I was thinking some weird stuff like maybe they could make her MJ because Peter being so distraught over losing her that all he sees is Gwen in MJ hence basically seeing Gwen with red hair. I just wouldn't accept her not being with Garfield on screen as Peter/Spider-Man.

Maybe the bad guys weren't built up so much in the films (to some people) but the Peter and Gwen aspect kept the movies as favorites to me. Even though it's not MCU, I still keep it in my top 10 of Marvel films simply because of Garfield and Stone. I honestly can't think of a better scene in all of superhero films

 @ Garfield wasn't on board after saying he wish he could be apart of the MCU.

He was getting cut loose regardless. They were never merging the events of the Amazing movies in to the MCU. Word to all the times you got hyped at a OsCorp building being in Avengers or Osborn being in the Iron Patriot suit or fake pics of Garfield on set of a MCU movie  :smh:

The Amazing movies did not do what they were suppose to. SONY was in a desperate situation which is why they're rebooting once again.

It's only your love for Garfield that makes you think he was still going to be apart of it despite the official announcement and the hacked e-mails.

wish we could've seen garfield in the MCU. but I think a fresh start is what is needed. he was a great spider man though.

I'll b honest with those spider man movies...... How does a kid dunk in hush school and shatter the back board and got suspended I believe when he should of been put on the team

The Russos on why we haven't seen Spiderman in promotions yet

"Part of the reasons of what was so secretive was that the deals were always lagging slightly behind how we were using the character" said the directors. "We were always in danger of upsetting the deal—there were still sensitive issues going on between the two studios that they needed to agree on. When we were casting Tom Holland, when we were screen-testing him for the movie there was a whole very involved kind of process that was under the radar and secretive, because of the fact that it was still a sensitive business issue." They went on to highlight why they can't discuss Spidey's costume: "The reason why we still won’t talk about [the costume] is that Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There’s still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals."

I didn't find garfield funny in the spiderman movies.
Good point but he was still a good Spidey.

The real question is if Spider-Man is funny at all? :nerd:

I liked that he mocked his villains while beating them up but I never thought he was funny. I just enjoyed the levity he brought to his adventures when it came to that. It says a lot that just about almost every other superhero finds him extremely annoying and his jokes painful except for like maybe a dozen or so exceptions (and that kinda speaks to what the writers throughout the decades feel about Spidey "cracking jokes" and if they're funny while crime fighting).

 No money contract made movie wise and there still all this bureaucracy to the deal. That it may have been in danger of going south goes back to my point on why it always seemed so unlikely.

To think if those masterpiece ASM movies didn't all suck we wouldn't even be here right now.

Oh now yall like Garfield tha gawd? :smh:

I'd like it noted that i was a Toby fan for Peter,
but Gar-field fan for spidey.

yea spidey was never slap stick funny, but he wasn't suppose to be, lol he's a reformed geek turned superhero. i think his humor is appropriate.

That's the point of Peter Parker's character.

Peter was an awkward, science-y dude, but he always was a good looking kid with yambgawd potential, and he didn't realize that potential until he became Spider-Man and broke out of his shell.

Which is why I disagree completely with Tobey being a dork for all three movies

Peter didn't always have his powers in the asm series and I don't remember anything remotely geeky about him

The perfect Peter would be somewhere between Tobey and Andrew's take and something tells me that Tom Holland is going to nail that

Toby's Peter Parker is obsessed with an average looking girl who gets her back blown out by a high school jock who bullies him, his bosses son and his best friend twice

He also cries when said average looking girl breaks up with him....Not because he watched her fall to her death and failed to save her...but because she broke up with him

Y'all don't know spiderman

Bruh spent 3 movies being friend zoned by the love of his life

LOL what? Son could've had her anytime after the first movie if he'd just made a move and wouldn't have kept blowing her off because his life was too dangerou.

This is true and i've said the same.

Bryce Dallas Howard was so damn sexy as Gwen.

But on crip, Pete had MJ starting directly from that funeral scene at the end of SM1. Son had the yambs on command

^^ so why she run off and go get engaged to an J. Jonah's son while Peter couldn't even get the full payment for the pizza he delivered.

Raimi made Peter Parker too much of a loser when I'm reality he's suppose to be an average guy who's in way over his head in superhero drama

i still think toby has the nerd ugly duckling thing going on.

yea smart kids of this generation could look like garfield. but peter is a super nerd.
he was easily a Lenord holfstetter (big bang theory)
