Harry Potter, Avatar and everything else isn't competion for SW, I'm sorry man lol. That movie is going to torch every record and I'm not even a fanboy

Man what???

I love me some Star Wars but even saying it'll pass Avatar is pushing it imo. I'm sure it'll probably surpass 2B but 3-4B is straight up unheard of and way unprecedented. That would warrant the movie being a true phenomenon in the truest sense of the word worldwide.

They paid 4 billion for the franchise.

First movie will do 2.5
Then add toys, books, clothes, costumes, comics, etc.
Anthology film a year later. 1 bill low estimate.
Ep 8 year after, another 2 bill.

By 2020, 4-5 movies, cartoons, merchandise, etc, could approach 10 billion. Those are SAFE estimates. If they nail the films, truly nail, pfffff, 12-15+. Stupid money.

I never understood the hype around Avatar. Thought it was garbage...

It was never about the story man , all about those ground breaking cgi effects. It basically started the whole 3D craze and brought IMAX filming to the mainstream. Still the only movie I've seen still sell out weeks after release  :x

**** the effects...It was garbage

I don't know who you're trying to convince man ,I already feel the story was lacking heavy but it was a pretty amazing cinematic experience in IMAX imo.

Avatar was like ninja turtles lol it was like a theme park ride.

Not really a great film tho

No problem with that,to each their own *salute*. Seeing the effects the first time is one of my more memorable movie cinema moments so I'll always have a small soft spot for it even with all the plot holes

Hate 3d so the effects did nothing for me, and the story was nothing special. Avatar wasn't worth the hype.

Finally saw AoU, it was really good. Just seemed like they were individually never in direct danger from Ultron. But, not sure that's a legit complaint seeing as Ultron is just a souped-up(droid) Ironman anyways. Plan to see it again though because I felt like I couldn't follow some of the action scenes. Anyways, I give it 6.8/8.

Looks like crack has worked it's way into corporate culture.

EDIT: assuming they meant box office from ep VII

I'm positive it'll be a theme park after the sequel trilogy

No surprise at all. Disney makes over 1/3rd of its $6.1B income from theme parks. That is income not revenue. For those who dont know the difference, income is the money you have in the banks AFTER taking care of all expenses.

Im also 99% positive i read somewhere that net income from theme parks is more than net income from movies. That means after expenses they make more money from Disney World than they do from all these Avengers, Pixar, and Princess movies. But that means very little considering the creative accounting that is allowed in hollywood. Disney will probably write the Avengers off as a loss

Ant-man is coming out in 60 days. I expect it to be a GREAT film

(trying to get this conversation back on topic)

Ant Man should be a solid film. I don't think it's going to blow my mind, but I don't think I'm going to dislike it. I expect to be entertained.

I don't know what to expect from the film box office wise. It has zero hype.

I think every marvel movie since A1 has done at least 700, but they were sequels, with the exception of GotG ..

But they advertised the hell out of GotG more than they've advertised Ant Man.

The forecasts for it are gonna be tempered down in comparison to other Marvel properties. I see Ant man making around 400m worldwide which would be a new benchmark for a non sequel/ensemble Marvel movie. Maybe even 500 if it has good word of mouth.

That should be more telling than anything, that they didn't put a huge push into the marketing.
