WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Nobody knows who the **** Miles Morales is do you realize that casual viewers have associated Peter Parker with Spider-Man their whole lives? It's just not smart business wise, especially since it's Peter Parker that is involved with Civil War. Introducing Miles after Peter would be fine.

How did we get to that?

EDIT: Honestly I don't see it as any different than them always using Bruce Wayne as Batman.

Aside from **** Grayson's brief stint as Batman, Bruce Wayne has always been the perennial Batman.

On the other hand, Miles Morales is very much touted by Marvel Comics writers as a worthy successor to the Spider-Man identity. He's appeared in the animated series and has already met both the 616 and Ultimate Peter Parkers, who have expressed their approval wholesale.

Miles Morales IS Spider-Man. So to not cast him as such when you have a golden opportunity to do so, and after two well-acted Peter Parkers, is dumb as hell.

Mile's Morales is only Spider-Man in an alternate universe. There have actually been two other, official, Batmen in the main univese. Beyond that, just like Miles, there are then a number of Alternatve Univese Batman. In terms of being worthy, i'd say that DC's done everything to make it clear that both Grayson and Terry McGinnis are worthy heirs to the mantle, even being allowed to star in their own comics wearing the suit and bearing the name, just like Miles. Terry even had his own tv show before anything else. They're both longstanding, popular characters, who numerous fans know. Basically, they have just as much right to be on the big screen as Miles, in the Batsuit, but most likely never will be. I'd also say the casual person knows **** Grayson over Miles Morales, and that the casual person thinks Peter Parker=Spider-Man, just like Bruce Wayne=Batman. For a venture such as this, his first appearance in the MCU, Peter's the obvious choice, and racism isn't needed at all for them to choose him. That's silly reasoning.

From a writing standpoint it's also just as good to bring Miles in later, just like its good to bring in Bucky as Cap later.

No one knew who guardians or Ant-Man were yet Guardians made more money than ASM2

Cap is Miles' mentor in the comics. Spider-Man is slated to appear in cap's next movie.

Demolished opportunity :smh:

Honestly I think there are good reasons for them to go with either Peter or Miles, but that it can be successful either way and isn't then stupid for them to not choose Miles.

Yeah but neither are established mainstream characters. We grew up with Peter in the cartoon/movies our whole lives n

Not having Parker be the spiderman to be with the avengers would be weird. Never even heard of miles morales until nt was talking about him. People would probably be wondering who he is.

I don't like how Hank Pym isn't the Antman in the movie. So disrespectful for one of the founding Avengers.

It's simple why he's not going to be in the film. Peter Parker is simply better. When your whole existence is based off of another character, you're just not worthy.

Guys, if I went to a packed movie theatre to see Age of Ultron and only seven people got the Cap lifting the hammer or the Crimson cowl reference imagine how many people are going to go "What the **** is this?" When someone not named Peter Parker is spider man.
Not just because he's black or mixed, but because he's not Peter. It'd be the same if we had a Jim Johnson as spider man or a bjorn bjornson.

School me?

The writers realized they ****** up by revealing Peter's identity (among other stupid storytelling decisions) so they wrote an arc where Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to change things back.

Which, incidentally, was one of the worst Spider-Man arcs in history.

One More Day/Brand New Day was trash.

So every DC character is trash? Good to know

Hal Jordan aint Alan Scott
Barry Allen aint Jay Garrick
Kal-L aint Kal-El

And we can go on and on

Damn wtf...and here I was reading Civil War thinking that Peter unmasking was a profound event

Good thing Spider-man will have a solo movie to answer those questions.

Such an important announcement that they reversed it a few months later.
School me?

They reversed it a bargain with the devil

Different people have been Thor (There's even a different person wielding the hammer in the comics right now), different people have been Iron Man, different people have been Captain America (Last time I checked that name's being used by Falcon right now), we've got more than one Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk, yet Marvel chose to go with the classic versions the majority of the time. Why should Spider-Man be any different?

In terms of Marvel events, Civil War is trash anyways fam, so don't feel bad.

silverbackhoney silverbackhoney Both DC and Marvel can be trash, but aren't always trash.
