Supposedly Asa is now out as Spidey:

In today's edition of Meet The Movie Press, The Wrap's Jeff Sneider gave listeners an update on the casting of Marvel and Sony's new Spider-Man. According to him, it's now a 3-horse race as the actor that was favourite to land the role, Asa Butterfield, is no longer in the running. Apparently it's taken so long to settle on someone because both studios are clashing over who they want to see take up the webshooters: Sony want Holland, and Marvel want Plummer. There's speculation that Butterfield might have messed up his chances by going on Reddit and discussing his potential casting.

So, if it is indeed down to 3 and no more contender emerge, it's safe to assume our new Spidey will either be Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer, or Matthew Lintz.

Stupid that Sony has the balls to clash with Marvel over the casting.

Just trust in Marvel.

Just seems counterproductive to go to Marvel to rescue them from desperate times and then proceed to fight them every step of the way.

They are very, very very, very stupid

I don't believe this.

Feige has Sony firmly under his boot.

 if Asa is out though cuz yall were running with that confirmation hard a week ago.

 @ Carl from TWD even auditioning.

Now it's down to two, really hard to believe this because almost all these reports said Asa had it locked so take it with a grain of salt as usual.

While Asa Butterfield may now be out of the running to play Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Birth.Movies.Death reports that Marvel and Sony's hunt is now down to just two actors. Those are Tom Holland (The Impossible) and Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go). The latter wasn't mentioned in the report from earlier today, but was said to be testing for the role last month.

The site adds that there is actually no real dispute between Marvel and Sony over the casting; instead, both parties are just "exhibiting a lot of caution" when it comes to finding the right actor to introduce as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War. A reporter from Variety appears to have also confirmed that it's down to these two, so here's hoping we hear something official soon.

Why do "men" run their mouths like that? Dude deserves to have the role taken from him.

This generation of "men" raised by ******* I swear :smh:

I'm saying this as a guy who thinks the standards of masculinity and machismo in the black and Latin community is jacked.

Why would they take away a role if someone talked about it though? If he's the person you want then keep him.

He proved he can't keep a secret. He will be trusted with a lot of them. Keeping plot details under wraps is far more important than his current career.

^^ Yeah now thinking about it notice how all the other actors joke about how Marvel keeps things under tight lids and now we see someone get sniped. Maybe next time he'll know better

Probably won't be a next time.

Better hit up Fox for an X-Men role

I thought about that aspect that they would not trust him being tight-lipped about movie plots and stuff. But legally these actors sign stuff anyway and would get sued to hell.

On something related, my friend works for a company that does Star Wars merchandise. His co-worker's high school scumbag son was doing an internship. He walks into the art department and takes pics of SW characters that haven't been revealed yet when no one was looking. Posts them on reddit. His dad gets fired the next day and the company gets a call from the Disney / Star Wars people.

You will not be able to recover the money spent on advertising as well as recover (or even quantify) lost revenue if an actor decides to go rogue. The confidentiality agreement punishes the actor but doesnt put the studio back to the same position as it was before.
