WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

Of all the movies listed, as saddened as I am to say this I think Black Panther has the highest chance of failure.

I was watching the movie yesterday and thought to myself "didnt the Game of Thrones creators say that purple eyes (like in the books) on Khaleesi and her brother wouldnt look good? I think that looks fantastic"

from all those movies from phase 3 which one you guys think will bomb  ???
If we get a bad movie, imo, it will be between Dr. Strange, Thor, Inhumans, and BP.

I think Civil War, Guardians, Both Avengers, and CM have no chance of being bad.

Are you tahm bout financial failure or the movie itself sucking. I love the Inhumans but honestly, that movie could easily be the worst. Off course I am hoping is great. In terms of financial failure I think Captain Marvel has the highest chance of failure but not much worse than BP. Hollywood and TV has said time and time again that female lead action heroes are ridiculously unlikely to do as well as male leads. We could have a good movie that still flops with CM.

Ant Man

Dr. Strange

Inhumans

Captain Marvel

Black Panther

are all pretty high risk movies.

ej. untested characters, black lead, female lead

I have to think that Captain Marvel and Inhumans are going to do well just from releasing so closely after the Infinity War movies.

Ant Man has a summer release date and following up Avengers II has that going for it.

Dr Strange is following up Civil War

Black Panther is releasing in November with an untested character and a black lead, played by an actor who isn't really that high profile, following up Thor, which isn't as high profile as the Avengers movies. So it has a lot working against it. Even if it's a pretty good movie, hard to say if it will reflect in the box office.

I was talking financial.

I think Thor 3 will do for the Thor franchise what Cap 2 did for the Cap franchise. But now that I think about it, BP will do poorly financially just from the black lead. Emily Blunt did $370M for Edge, ScarJo did $458M for Lucy. These are all successful female lead superhero movies. I have no doubt that if they get Emily blunt the movie will do at least close to $600M.

Black Panther is the movie directly before Avengers, which I think helped Guardians but there is no proof of that. Boseman aint no Will Smith. If you take away Will Smith movies, successful black male action hero movies are slim pickings if any.

Just realized that the Black Panther character is in Civil War.

So if fans like him in that movie, that will help, obviously.

If Black Panther was the movie right after Civil War that would help the most.

Mannnnnnn there are no more risks. If people are sold on a walking tree, a talking racoon and a green chick, they can get behind almost anything.

People complained that a Norse god was black. Do you think those same people would complain if the norse god was a tree? >D

According to the executive editor all those comics of other characters being worth of mjlonir were out of continuity and didn't count. Most were carrying fake hammers or different ones.

Eh, I'm still going with these are movies made by Marvel studios so it's a guarantee 300 mil box office.

None of those other details are even gonna matter.

Marvel is definitely guaranteed 450 at the box office except maybe BP. I'll give him 370.

Which movie do you expect to be so big it will be guaranteed a sequel (like Guardians did)?

Breh, you gon have you regular followers of comics, along with the general pub who sees these movies, and a bunch of black folk coming out to see it. TIH barely made $300 mill. You don't think a marvel  movie, in this age, can make more than $370 mill?

Anybody read those Fantastic Four plot rumors?

If we're talking domestic numbers, the numbers being thrown around are too high

If we're talking overall, including international numbers, we're talking too low.

Marvel movies seem to be going into the 700's overall

Of the phase 2 movies, Gotg was the only one to cross 300 domestically

Iron Man 3 actually ended up making over $400+. You could say that Marvel's been averaging at least $225 mil domestically per film and at this point $600+ worldwide.
