WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - XMEN97 release 3/20

No I mean it's good to discuss it and I always see these films on midnight so I rarely get hit with spoilers and even though spoilers are unavoidable, it's still easier to avoid it since people just go crazy and do not black out their posts once the movie it out.

Worse comes to worse, I'll just change this thread to a general MCU/Avengers thread and just bump it but still make independent movie threads. Plus even those can't be avoided sometimes, people just start the thread anyways even if you have an existing thread about it already.

Oh my bad, I misinterpreted what you said. Anyways, nine films in development is exciting. I hope we actually get surprised with something, and not just sequels

It's not the fourth director, it's just the second. The other directors said no to the project, they weren't on it and then left so technically they were never the director.

Honestly, 10 years ago I'd be making fun of an Antman film too and would think his power will be ridiculous on the big screen in a bad way but these days, they can pull it off and that test screen from a few a years back looked pretty good.

I never said they had four directors, only that the director they have now was their fourth choice.

Idk, it just seems like a mess. Ant Man hit pre production before the first Iron Man, and it kept stalling and starting over again. And I'm pretty sure it went through three rewrites.

Not sure why try so hard to release a solo ant man movie if it's going to be like this *shrugs

Ant-man stalled because of the technology to create those effects, and because it wasn't the right time. The film would've absolutely flopped big time. Now is a perfect time to introduce obscure characters.

Technically, it wasn't in pre-production before IM1, Wright was just attached and scripts were being written. Pre-production didn't really start til October 2013. The problems before then weren't big and it didn't cost Marvel much, just hiring re-writes and conversations for whether the film gets a greenlight.

The bigger problems didn't start til pre-production last year and by then Marvel was already committed to the project, they had a release date and film/production was greenlit.

Antman will be great, I just wish Paul Rudd was playing Hank Pym as opposed to Scott Lang. Why do they have to focus the story on Lang? Pym is an awesome character...he just beats his wife from time to time, that's all :wow:

I didn't know that pic up there of Ant-Man was official. Looks good, but fan made.

I'm a Paul Rudd fan, I have faith Ant-Man will be at least solid. Still wish Edgar was involved though

Aye not knowledgable at all of marvel history, can someone please give a quick summary on Thanos (had to look it up) because I just realized the Ultron pic is not the same dude from the after credit scene in Avengers. Are they saving Thanos up for like Avengers #3 or something? or Thanos is the one pulling the strings behind Ultron? I'm confused. :nerd:

So basically, Thanos

is a mad being from the moon of Titan

is in love with the entity of death

gave Loki the Chitauri army in Avengers

is hellbent on destroying everything in the universe to please Death

Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy is his daughter. The Guardians are not in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so we can expect the Guardians and Thanos to be featured in Avengers 3, along with all of the Infinity Stones that have been compiled since Phase 1.

Ultron will most likely be a product of Tony Stark, since in IM3 he did create self aware and protecting suits. My guess is that it turns evil by itself or is influenced by Hydra (since Hydra holds Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch hostage, and has destroyed SHIELD from the inside)

You gon be in Hall H for any of the events?
Most likely not haha, how about you? (if you're at SDCC this week)

Nah, not there. I wish.

I really like that they more or less went the test footage costume with a few added accessories. Marvel is crazy in how they can nail something so early on before shooting even begins, it's amazing.

And I liked the MK XLII from IM3, one of the few things I did like about that, but with it's colors reversed for AoU, I absolutely LOVE it. It's gonna be so weird going back and watching IM1 after these two movies and seeing how "normal" the world used to be

There's a Jessica Jones series included in that Netflix package right? I know Luke Cage will have one as well but Jessica used to mess with Scott Lang right?

I think one of those dates is gonna be a defenders film, especially with Feige love affair with Doc Strange and him wanting to be the new cornerstone of the MCU. They'll start with defenders television film but I know it'll transfer to the big screen. I could see hulk switching teams to keep everyone intrigued (because the defenders are the lamer team) and to keep some overall continuity between the avengers and the defenders....

And didn't marvel get Namor's film rights back? :nerd: I think I'm on to something....

Looks like they gave her super strength or something. Ultron in the background looks like it got knocked back by her fist.

Looks like Quicksilver is running through them. I'm thinking that's what the blue streak is. Hulk's arm is in the front too. Thor's hammer on the left.

And for good measure, one of Hawkeye's arrows in chilling in the brain of one of Ultron's many sons.

She's got Stark power arms or whatever. Dudes need to stop being treehouse boys club goofy about black widow, she is what she is, and movies need to make money.
