All of the royal family are cousinsExcept for Medusa and Crystal being sisters, Black Bolt and Maximus being brothers, and Triton and Karnak being brothers. Gorgon is the only one without a sibling.
That keep it in the family stuff to keep the royal lineage going is prevalent in just about all royalty in human cultures especially if the focus is having a son. I figure Kirby was just going for that feel. Definitely GoT worthy though
In the GOT thread I was posting about how European royalty was into that incest / royal bloodline ish and how no one ever talks crap about the Targaryens keeping it in the family but crap all over the lannisters for trying it out.

The European crowns are all so disgusting. People were marrying and having kids with their first cousins all the way until about WWI and it was frowned upon if you DIDN'T keep it in the family.

During WWI, the monarchs of the three warring European superpowers (Kaiser Wilhelm -German Emperor, Tsar Nicholas- Russian emperor, and Edward- king of England) were literally cousins.

@ Whedon being so bitter.He did the same thing when he started writing comics for Marvel and got his check for Astonishing X-Men. Said he showed it to his wife/gf and they both laughed.
