Stussy? When i was drawing these i had no clue what Stussy was

My girl called it that as well.I remember this girl telling me in 2nd grade that it was called a "Surfers S'"....So I always assumed thats what it was.

Im from nyc and was drawing this in like 1984 or 85 the earliest. It has nothing to do with stussy or any other brand. I think its graffiti inspired and probably grew from there as hip hop culture became more and more mainstream over the years. Im sure you can find this "S" spray painted on walls somewhere in random 80's and early 90's rap videos or album art. We used to draw it a little different than I see it here though. Either way its pretty cool that people all over the country have done this.
