eyes.gif Have you heard it? You can clearly hear the similarities, especially the use of the tambourine.

lmao, do you know mow many songs use a tambourine let alone use a tambourine in that rhythm? you do realize that the marvin gaye song didnt originate that? the blurred lines lawsuit only ended in favor of the gaye family because of the use of the lyrics "everybody get up".

you can clearly hear similarities in most popular music... does that mean its lawsuit worthy?
Here's a link of the story with a comparison vid of the two songs.

IMO, they sound very similar. And I never stated it was lawsuit worthy. I'm disappointed the family is doing this.

yea dude, ive heard it. not the same.

go ahead tell us what exactly pharrell stole or copied. all you've come up with so far is a tambourine.
Rhythm is similar but the lyrics are a lot different so it more people gonna make money now?

You seem like you just really want to argue about this. I respect that you don't think it sounds the same. IMO, I hear similarities in both beats, and others that listened with me agree. Just say you don't agree.

it will be interesting if this lawsuit goes through or even if the gaye family will file it because im pretty sure marvin didnt write or produce the song happy is being compared to. it depends who owns the master and etc.

just say that you dont actually understand how music law works.

ive said there are thousands examples of things that "sound similar", nobody is disagreeing. but when i asked you a logicical question, not to argue... you cant even answer it.

Some interesting word origins

Clue
Quote:
from the Middle English word clew, or ball of thread. That's actually an allusion to the story of Theseus, who followed a trail of thread to get out of Minos's labyrinth. Eventually, clue started to mean anything that hints at a solution

Amok
Quote:
As in run amok. It's an old Indonesian concept where someone becomes possessed by extreme anger and goes on an indiscriminate killing spree with a machette.

Kindergarten
Quote:
Kinder" in German is children, and "garten" is garden. The word kindergarten is really "garden for children", or " garden of children", symbolizing it as a place where children will go to grow.

Pandemonium
Quote:
from Milton's Paradise Lost, in which Lucifer builds a big fortress for all of his demons, and unsurprisingly it's rather raucous and disorganized as it's filled with demons. It is described as pandemonium, which comes from the greek "pan-" meaning everything or "all of", and 'demonium'. So it was a place filled with all of the demons. Now it means a fracas or a chaotic situation.

Hermaphrodite
Quote:
from the Greek mythological story of Hermes and Aphrodite's son who was melded with a woman.

The word boondocks is originated from the Philippines
Quote:
From the Tagalog (Filipino) name Bontoc, a city in the northern mountain provinces that is also the name of a native tribe in the area. The area is very remote (like a 12 hour bus ride up switchback trails from Manila), has many rural/subsistence farmers.

O.k
Quote:
Etymology = 1839, only survivor of a slang fad in Boston and New York c.1838-9 for abbreviations of common phrases with deliberate, jocular misspellings (such as K.G. for "no go," as if spelled "know go;" N.C. for "'nuff ced;" K.Y. for "know yuse"). In the case of O.K., the abbreviation is of "oll korrect."

Barbarian
Quote:
There were no such people as barbarians. It was a term used by the Greek to refer to anyone who didn't speak Greek. To them, any outsiders who didn't speak their language were inferior brutes whose language sounded primitive, like "bar bar bar bar" to them, hence the term barbarian.

Your whole point from the beginning was that it didn't sound similar, stating I needed my hearing checked. But now you're agreeing it sounds similar? I don't care about the lawsuit or how it works, that wasn't my point. I just stated you can hear the similarities in the beat, and maybe the family can win another lawsuit. If it takes more than the rhythm sounding the same in order to win a case of such, that's all you had to say.

Your initial statement was something like "looks like they will win again" cause the similarity was a tambourine.

Don't take what I said to fit your ignorant statement. I said there are similarities, not that the songs sound similar. Like I said before, thousands of songs use tambourines.

Thousands of songs use pianos and guitars, those are similarities which are not the same a songs sounding similar due to key and is using same chord progressions which pharrell didn't do, which is why I said your hearing may need to be examined.

There is no need for you to get bent out of shape cause you made a statement about something you have shown you know nothing about and then got questioned.
No, I said they may win, that's it. Instead of giving a mature response I guess you went for the laughs. I then stated the tambourine pattern sounded the same. Your prior response should've been of a question, asking why I felt they would win. From there, you should've then tried to school me on music lawsuits. Simply stating, the rhythm and pattern may be similar but it will take more to win a lawsuit of such.

I done with this argument, **** sounds similar to me, I hope the family doesn't go through with the lawsuit.

I get a lil annoyed with those "these people were both on the same year" type of thing. They aremt connected t oeach other in many ways for the most part. For example Anne Frank and MLK Jr were born on the same year should i be excited or something? lol
