OFFICIAL 2014 Oscars Awards Thread March 2

I'm putting all my cookies in the 12 Years a Slave jar. Pharrell- Happy. And Jonah Hill for best supporting actor. I want him to win just off the strength that he took a pay cut to be in that movie

Leo ain't winning

It's all Matthew.

I slacked hard this year.. usually I've seen a majority, if not all, of the big contenders but I only saw a couple this year. Not to mention I'll be working and miss the first half :smh: which has me bummed. Despite the Academy being old and out of touch and the ceremony running long and all the negatives associated with the Oscars and award shows in general, I always liked watching.

Got mad movies to try and watch today.

Cuz I know myself. If I don't watch some of these before the show, it's never gonna happen.

I absolutely love movies. I go to the theater 3-4 times a month, and watch tons of Redbox flicks. Ellen will be great. What makes her unique is that she has a really good relationship with most A list actors. Here are my picks in the big categories.

Best Picture- 12 Yrs a Slave

Director- Alfonso Cuaron

Best Actor- Matt McConaughey

Best Actress- Cate Blanchett

Supporting Actor- Jared Leto

Supporting Actress- Lupita Nyong'o

Shout out to #QuanFlix for keeping me up to date with these movies.

As much as I feel that MM was outstanding in DBC and has just been at the top of his game lately, I'd still love to see Leo finally get the monkey off his back. Hopefully we're in for a surprise tonight.

I'd say my picks are

Best Picture- 12 Years a Slave

Director- Steve McQueen

Best Actor- Mathew McConaughey (fingers crossed for Leo)

Best Actress- Amy Adams

Supporting Actor- Jared Leto (pretty much a guarantee at this point but I wouldn't mind seeing Jonah Hill or Cooper get it)

Supporting Actress- Lupita Nyong'o

MM better win best actor and my twin jared leto win best supporting

Best picture: WOWS

Just finished Dallas Buyers and Blue Jasmine. Seen Hustle, Captain, Gravity, 12 Years, Midnight, Killing and Wolf, so I think that checks off all the big ones. This year ***** on last year. Personally, I think the best movies of the year were Wolf of Wall Street, The Act of Killing, Before Midnight and Fruitvale Station. But as far as who should win the Oscars:

Best Picture: 12 Years a Slave

Best Director: Gravity

Best Actor: Chiwetel Ejiofor

Best Actress: Cate Blanchett (well, damn)

Best Supporting Actor: Jonah Hill or Michael Fassbender

Best Supporting Actress: Lupita N'yongo

Orig. Play: Blue Jasmine, Adapted Play: Before Midnight

Best Documentary: The Act of Killing

hoping Jennifer Lawrence looks like 2010 era Jennifer Lawrence tonight

Jared leto dropped 30 pounds and acted in character off set during filming. Pretty nuts to act like a ****** in public and whatnot. That dedication is crazy

in, underline is what I want to win, regular is what I think will win

Best Picture: 12 years/???

Best Director: Cuaron

Best Actor: Tossup tbh, I can see Matt/Chiwetel/Leo all taking it.  #teamleo

Best Actress: Blanchett

Best Supporting Actor: Fassbender/Jared Leto

Best Supporting Actress: Lupita N'yongo

Best Animated Film: Frozen

Best Original Screenplay: Her

Best Original Song: Let it Go/The Moon Song

Gravity probably gonna take home a lot (visuals, sounds, etc.)

^^^ Nope.

But it is a good sign for Chiwetel Ejiofor. Leo always loses to black guys at the Oscars when he has been nominated as the lead.

That's why his Calvin Candie was so believable. I know ole boy is harboring bad feelings towards the homies

If Fruitvale released this fall it would have been a major contender.

All 9 best pictures nominations were released fall/winter. None spring/summer
