That time of year, even with Harvey out I would like to see the team reach a .500 record and have something position to build on going into 2015. They went 50-50 their last 100 games, it is a goal they can reach. D'Arnaud was excellent controlling our pitchers, and if everyone slightly improves in the staff with the rest of the guys near MLB ready.....filthy :x

Today's lineup:

C Young 7
Tejada 6
Granderson 9
Davis 3
Satin 5
Duda DH
Flores 4
d'Arnaud 2
Lagares 8
Montero rhp

If Lagares can hit at least .260 I'll gladly take it considering his defense, guy is special in CF.

Flores will have a big role imo.

Sharing much as I can from PSL and Orlando.

Sandy is willing to entertain Drew at around $8-9M-per.

'Thor" nickname sticking for Syndergaard. Wicked curveball, "hook from hell" according to Terry. Showed the heat. Premium velocity facing Heyward.

Yes, Lagares is a defensive wizard but he needs to hit like he did from early August to early September to fend off at-bats from Chris Young and Eric Young, Jr. Justified or not, Chris Young will get first preference because of the contract. You don't pay upwards of $7M to sit on the bench. Eric Young swipes a lot of bags and he's no slouch with range, speed, and defense in the OF either.

den Dekker has been relatively nice in the field.

I think Ike will mash, if the concealed injury and trade talks can muster up any type of motivation. He's talked about patient at-bats all spring, seeing the ball well.

Ike's too talented to hit like he has the past season and a half.
How quickly we forget Ike mashed in 2010 and 2012. This is the year for a resurgence. Lucas Duda is not a very good baseball player, let's face it. Josh Satin is Sandy's insurance in absolute emergency, a pleasant surprise.

Wouldn't be surprised if Lagares is relegated to super sub in a defensive specialist role, if he can't get the bat going. Chris Young has ten times more power than Lagares and Eric Young combined, and the latter has premium speed to manufacture runs. That is, if Sandy Alderson is serious about the 90-win goal.

Interesting to see how the organization handles Noah, Montero, and Wheeler. Common sense would suggest cautious optimism and unleash the dogs in 2015 with a healthy Harvey.

Met fan here checking in.

Hope Flores will flourish! Looks like a young Miggy (not saying he will become).

He could be the centerpiece of a Nick Franklin trade, Seattle asset that can play multiple infield positions. Unless the brass believes Tejada can return to 2011-2012 form, which is entirely possible.

Really want to see us upgrade at Short, I don't believe in Tejada at all.  It feels like we're fairly solid (not as if there isn't room for improvement) so many other spots if not for 2014 then for next year.  Murph isn't the best defensive 2B but he can hit.  At 1st, I don't know...Ike has shown how good he can be but also how lost he can look and how bad he was didn't really justify his upside but I think he can turn it around if he gets his head right.  Maybe not the best comparison but he reminds me of Pelfrey, has the ability but got threw off track so easily.  I wonder what would've happened with Ike without the freak ankle injury plus the valley fever situation.  Looking forward to seeing what d'Arnaud can do too.  OF isn't all-world but I think it's good enough with Grandy, Young & Young, Legares.  They all should give us something.

Pitching should be great for the future, Wheeler looked great and if/when Harvey is as good as ever a top 3 of them plus Thor alone could be nasty.  Add in Mejia, Montero, de Grom, etc.  I mean, something's gonna happen where one of them doesn't pan out or at the very least is just a bullpen guy, it's how it goes but I'm gonna guess at least one gets traded for a bat.

"Thor" is a perfect nickname for Noah. We can call his disgusting curve "Mjolnir"

YOU WANT ME TO PUT THE HAMMER DOWN?!

Growing pains with Noah yesterday. Learning curve of a young, promising pitcher. If Lagares consistently hits like he did against the Tigers, he's your everyday CF and Eric Young relegated to super-sub as a pinch runner or even late defensive substitution for Chris Young or Grandy. Lagares was 2-3, R, SB. .265 AVG in '14 and Terry is more than happy.

still think he should get some reps at 2B as a backup option and i think still think Flores could be a Hanley/Jeter-esque defensive SS if given a chance you need that bat in the lineup

life-long Mets fan checking in.

I think we can make the playoffs this year. I'd love to see us in the playoffs as it feels like a liftetime since our last appearance.

I see Andersons work coming to fruitation. Its been a long painful process, one which is still on going. But we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with these young pitchers we have. Im more excited for the 2015 season, this year is kind of like the prequel to great things for us.

.500 record with this roster would be over-achieving imo, just want a competitive team and something positive to build on going into 2015.

.500 or better even if its something along the lines of 82-80 would be a positive for me just so I can be like "at least they didn't have a losing record".

2015 is when everything should fall in place but I'm all for some positives being shown a year early.

81-81 would be a great season. 2015 is the year when things should happen, but with so much time in between, who knows what could go horribly wrong. I'm optimistic about the future for the first time in a while, but we need a couple of the younger guys to have that breakthrough this year, even if it's not at Harvey's level.

I was born in 88, I need to witness just 1 win in my lifetime. Don't want my playoff thoughts to always be Armando Benitez blowing game 1 and Beltran not getting the bat off his shoulders. Wright is my favorite player of all time, and a hometown hero where I'm from, and I will be disappointed if we never win it during his career. 2015 is our time, but it starts now.

i'd gladly take a .500 record for us this season... along with that, i would just like to see them stay healthy & compete all year.
