NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

Just when you think they got some momentum and feeling good going into a series verse a very bad cubs team, bam reality hits and we get swept. Smh hopefully this kid they drafted today pans out and seeing how he's from collage maybe it won't be long before we see him!!

You should never feel good about this team at any point, they are simply not that good. Look at our lineup. It is pathetic.

I don't even see how this lineup drastically improves next season, the options aren't even that great and this team is operating as a small market club now.

Even with our pitching, I don't see a positive sign.

One of the Mets' biggest problems is the lack of consistent power from Duda or Davis, prior to the Pirates trade. Need some pop behind Grandy to drive in runs, Murph - Wright - Grandy - Davis/Duda (ideally, before everyone realized neither 1B is any good).

Looking at the rough market for 2015. Could overpay on a Butler, Zobrist, or Headley.

And none of their skills are going to do anything. Terry'd still trot Tejada out there and keep Zobrist on the bench

It's not going to get better until Bud is gone and the new commish forces the Wilpon's to sell. The absolute worst thing that could happen, injuries aside, is sustained success right now.

Collins isn't the manager of the future. He's gatekeeper.

This team I'm at times excited to see what future holds but than I'm hoping it's not same garbage we see out there at times smh

Gonna have to be some serious changes before we see anything but garbage.  Even with Harvey back and a great 1-5, we don't have the ability offensively, not even close actually.

Even if TC is just a placeholder, how many quality coaches would choose to work for the Mets over most other teams?  Unless the Wilpons open up their checkbook and pay them enough to entice them, they'd just be walking into a dead-end.

deGrom looks promising. Getting hit a bit more lately but let these young guys go through growing pains in a year that they are not expected to do anything.

Still not sure what year we should expect anything though. 2017?

The mets will spend when the time is right.  maybe even this year.  the NL east is terrible and still have plenty of time to see where they stand  before trade deadline and suh.

Niese has become very reliable.  hope he keeps his injury free streak going.

spend the money when the players there are worth spending on. don't be dumb and give mid tier players contracts because they're the best option that offseason. i rather sit on the money and lose than spend it on chris young types and lose.

There has to be a balance though.  This is still NY. you need to put a competitive team out there so people still come watch.  Good thing is they are not signing long term deals.

Ehh Chris Smith was like 8 million dollars for two years, thats not even real money anymore.

IMO, they have to be prepared to throw the house at one of the big guys coming up in the next few years trout, harper, puig, stanton.

I disliked the Grandy signing. Why make a splash to show faux competitiveness? That's fraudulent on Sandy's behalf. Stick to your guns, adhere to the long-term strategy if you believe in your plan of growth so much.

Most recognized Grandy would not bode well in Citi Field's dimensions. He doesn't hit to the gaps anymore like he did for Detroit. Low BA, strikes out a lot, not making good contact. All for $15M-per.
