NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

I just don't have any company to go with, plus early meeting Wednesday morning.

It would be bad to show up hungover from the celebrations.

i'll gladly take out a new, 15 months interest free credit card to pay for playoff tickets if we clinch tonight and the prices get stupid. waited 9 years for this ****.

Mets are selling their own tickets on Mets.com. The cheapest is $180.

Edit: Seems like they are gone.

Well damn. Onto game 5. Kershaw was filth tonight.

Having to go to Chicago for work on Thursday is such a bummer.

Great batting approaches tonight. Hacking away for the fences instead of aiming for base hits to drive home the runners on base in the eight.

looking for a silver lining here.

all the pressure is on the dodgers thursday. if god forbid the mets take the L, ultimately they can look at this season as hopefully being the first step and look at it positively after 6 straight losing seasons. they overachieved after everyone picked the nats to win the east and were pegged as .500 team or so going into the season.

For the Dodgers, the goal for them the past 2 seasons has been world series or bust. they have a track record for underachieving in the playoffs with the current group they have. mattingly is managing for his job. if they lose, big changes in LA are inevitable. The choker, playoff failure label will be in full effect.

the mets are starting their ace on full rest. the same ace who shut the dodgers down in their building in game 1.  thor is on full rest and ready out the bullpen if needed.  they need to come out loose and ready to get the job done. grienke is great but beatable.

its been a helluva season but its not time for it to end yet. i want baseball being played in flushing queens saturday night, not chavez ravine.

Our loss last night makes me wonder if starting Matz was the best approach.

I hate Kershaw. He makes our lineup look like little league. I find it amazing how D.Murphy is the only hitter to connect for 2 homers against Kershaw.

Honestly, Im a bit disappointed with Wrights performance this series. Offensively, not much going on there but his glove has been reliable.

Matz isn't the reason we lost. Guy gave 5 innings of 3 run baseball. How much more can you ask? Not his fault he was up against the best pitcher in the world. This loss falls on the bats in the 8th inning against Hatcher and Jansen.

Idk how you can be disappointed in Wright when he had the go ahead hit in Game 1 that even gave us a chance to play a 5 game series.

Yeah, loss definitely is on our offense. I think Matz did well. Can't say I am surprised about Kershaw's performance. He is one of the best pitchers in the MLB history.

Wright walked twice last night but his batting average this series is terrible. 0.083 is totally unacceptable for our Captain. He must step up big tomorrow.

Dodgers' starting 3rd baseman Turner's been killing us this series. It's hurt to see former Mets player damaging our team in the postseasons.

Losing Uribe hurts us. We could use his passion and leadership.

I may not feel good about game five but I still believe in our team that we will win game five. LGM!

Truth all around. That 8th inning was yours for the taking. Could have had this wrapped up and onto the Cubs.

Grandy and Wright did their job that inning, worked walks. Murph made decent contact, but it was one of those in between balls, too hard to drop, too soft to sail.

I'm officially over Lucas Duda at first. I want him gone and replaced with someone consistent. Don't have time for a guy who will hit 10 home runs in 10 games and do nothing for 3 months.

I'm in full agreement about Duda. When he goes cold, he goes cold and it is hurting them at the worst time of the year. At least David Wright won the game for them with his two RBI single. Duda is flat out struggling. I'd rather have Murph at first and Kelly Johnson at second at this point. Mets are really missing Uribe's extra bat too. I don't have the utmost confidence going into tomorrow's game. Feels like they had to win last night. Although people are saying the pressure is on the Dodgers because of the expectations, the pressure is on this team as well. At one point they were the hottest team in the League and they led this series 2-1.

His issues are bad enough that manager Terry Collins admitted the Mets “desperately” needed him to pick himself up.

“There are times when he gets himself in situations where he thinks he’s got to hit home runs instead of just getting some line drives and getting some base hits and right now he’s not getting good pitches to hit,” Collins said. “And when he does, he might foul them off.”

Duda struck out twice Tuesday and flied to center to end the game. The fly ball was a positive sign, according to Collins.

“He finally got a ball off the plate that he hit pretty good,” Collins said. “But he’s a piece of our lineup that we desperately need to produce runs for us and right now he’s struggling.”

Sounds like Ike Davis had the same issue. :smh:

wright has been working the pitchers very well.  Matz - it sucks to give up all those hits with 2 outs.  I see good things for duda against greinke coming!

not worried at all with degrom on the mound.  and we have Murphy!  LGM!

Im disappointed with his 1 hit this entire postseason. Yes, 5 walks is good, but 5 strikeouts isnt good. Any he's hit into at least 2 double plays this postseason. his .083 avg is terrible. Especially when hes the captain and highest paid player.

Matz isnt the reason we lost, obviously our lacking offense was the reason. But Matz is lucky the Dodgers didnt score more.
