NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

^

I am kinda sad. I was just thinking about our young pitchers. When they hit the market, they might get ridiculous offers from other teams. :frown:

Im underwhelmed at the 2 moves we've made thus far.
We've gotten 2, at best, average middle infielders. But what have we done for our offense? It looks like we're opening the 2016 season the same way we started 2015, with minimal offense.

We need more offense dagnabit!
I dont want to see another bunch of loses decided by 1 or 2 runs. Or us not scoring at all. Lets remember, our lack of offense was a HUGE issue during the 1st half of the season as well as our post-season.

I like the Neil Walker move. Even though I like Murphy better because of his low strikeout rate. Only 38 strikeout in 130 games. Neil Walker had over 100 k's last season. Walker's defense is definitely better than Murphy for sure. Walker is an expiring or has one year left on his contract. Murphy might costs us a lot of money.

I don't like the Cabrera signing. I liked the old Cabrera in Cleveland. Scouts warned that his arm has got worse. Flores got hurt. It's no surprise that Mets went after a shortstop. I just hope Flores will be our primary shortstop.

the way I look at it, it keeps our pitchers sharp haha

I would've paid zobrist that same amount

cespedes is not coming back

We actually offered Zobrist more money. 4/60. Cubs offered 4/56. Maddon is the reason why Zobrist signed with the Cubs.

ugh.  The arrogance.

I like how it's shaping up so far.  assuming wright could stay healthy all season

Im betting against a healthy wright this coming season. Can we at least re-sign Uribe? A bat that can play a decent 3rd base.

This scares me. So our defense has improved a bit, but our offense is now possibly worse? :smh:
Next season does not look very promising right now.

It's not that the offense is worse per say but we lost a guy who puts the ball in play so situational hitting may lose some ground. Aside from the K's, Walker and Murph have similar output.

With the additions of lackey, zobrsit and now Heyward, the cubs look like the team to beat in the nl

So, Murph went to DC and supposedly the Mets won't resign Cespedes. Forget about the World Series, Mets might not make the playoffs.

I think it's more of what we haven't done. I still believe we need a big bopper in the lineup and Cespedes would be perfect as we already know what he can do here, but they are not going down that road so it seems. Our starting pitching is absolutely off the charts, but still need some help in the bullpen as well since that was a glaring weak spot last year.

We replaced Murphy with Walker who's better all around and just as good offensively (sans the K%). We added competent bench bats that give us legit depth in Cabrera and De Aza. Just need to sure up the pen and ideally bring back Cespedes. But to sit here and think we aren't making the playoffs or haven't done anything to improve is foolish.

They're already saying no negotiations are happening with Cespedes. Seems highly unlikely we resign him.

Well he's represented by Rocnation, so realistically we never had a chance. I'm still annoyed with his WS performance also. :smh:

that 12.5 mil from cuddyer retiring is huge; money for cespedes :nthat:

The Wilpons pockets.

They'll literally pocket that money, along with the World Series and playoff bonuses. They will not use that money to win a chip, they are penny pinchers. We'll make the playoffs, but def not getting back to the WS. See the Cubs?
