NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN

#Mets will have a ceremony at 5:05 p.m. Thursday in a conference room to present retiring #Yankees captain Derek Jeter with a gift.

Dont know what to make of this. Part of me is appalled, the rest is saying at least its not on the field.

Well, I have no problem with Derek Jeter. Chipper Jones also received a small gift and nice farewell. I'd love to have a player like Jeter on our team. We could always use a leader with clutch in postseasons.

Montero is looking good as far.

If the Sox and O's can honor Mo and Jeter, then Met fans should have no qualms with that

Collins wasn't too bright leaving this kid out there with something like 70 pitches through 3. IDK how you guys tolerate him most of the time.

I disagree. Sox fans and O's fans dont have to live surrounded by all things Yankees. Im still sore about 2000. You guys wanna honor him fine. But i want no part of this lovefest. Sorry just how i feel. Dont wanna have to sit through a ceremony of a yankees player being honored on met soil.

Agree to disagree then. O's fans are outnumbered by Yankee fans when they're in town and it's nearly even in Boston. Rivalries that have gone on for decades and IMO this isn't even some kind of intense rivalry. At least the way I see it from the Yankees side. O's/Sox and even TB have countless heated and intense battles and still managed to have no issue honoring either one of em.

This farewell Jeter tour is sickening. Think the same for Mariano. This is the standard that we live with in this day and age though. Pathetic.

Every team has their ups and downs. The Mets aren't going to make the playoffs this year(real fans know this), but I'm sure they'll have another winning streak.

The real question is, how many real fans are going to see the Mets play, even when they are doing bad? I'm going to the game on Wednesday after work this week, hopefully they'll take two from the Dodgers. (wishful thinking)

I'll still watch as often as I can, go to games whenever even if they're losing and it's not like I don't want them to make the playoffs but it was just funny to me when we were 26 games and had a winning streak and it was like things had really changed.

I've watched every game except obviously if i have prior engagements that are more important. I've stuck by my team and brush off the negative comments by my friends that are mostly Yankee "fans" but dont even watch their team till August/sept. I'm ecstatic that we have a bright future.

Haven't been yet, tryna change that by the end of the month hopefully. Still positive for this team's future, the caliber of the pitching we should have in a couple of year could be really ******* good. Bats are so poor right now, we need to somehow change that. Citi field has pretty much sapped any pop our team would have to nothing. Ugh.

Gotta get Wheeler right soon. He looks hurt. Can't locate anymore again. Wouldn't be surprised if a shoulder injury pops up :smh:

Been to four games already, aiming for ten this season.

Well on your way.

I am ashamed I have not yet gone, but looks like tomorrow will be the first game since my buddy got tickets from his previous employer. Added bonus is I will see deGrom!

What is consensus here about Harvey making 5-7 starts like he told SI earlier this week? So much pressure on the organization to not mess this up, and I have no faith they will succeed.

IMO there is no way he should start any games this year. And I believe the front office feels this way to. But he is adamant about doing so. We shall see what happens

Mets organization really need to do something about Citi Field. They are 9-14 at home. I love Citi Field, but I am not blaming Citi Field for Mets' awful numbers. They simply need a new attitude.
