NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

Mets organization really need to do something about Citi Field. They are 9-14 at home. I love Citi Field, but I am not blaming Citi Field for Mets' awful numbers. They simply need a new attitude.
Is it my reading comprehension or did this make no sense?

Harvey needs to start this year so he can get the jitters out from being injured. Let him build his confidence back up

So our rotation next year will look :pimp:

The problem with the Mets is the have to many swing and miss guys. Also trotting out Tejada everyday. They never use the park to their advantage, use those got damn gaps

Lagares is so underrated. I love having him on this team. That bunt single was a thing of beauty.

I don't think we need to worry about his confidence. It makes no sense to bring him back this year. The rehab is 12 months. Not worth the risk. Wether they're in playoff contention or not.

Yeah, I don't see the benefit to having Harvey pitch this year other than appeasing him.  Too much risk there and unless we had a legitimate shot at the playoffs (I still wouldn't be for it) it would be an unnecessary move.

I love that Harvey is such a competitor but you know he would be overthrowing and putting that elbow at risk prematurely if he pitched in the bigs this year.

I wouldn't say Lagares is underrated, but you could see his potential.  if he lives up to it and not getting recognized then maybe yea.  I expect good things when he plays though.  you hear keith and gary always hyping him up too which is nice to hear.

Kevin Burkhardt had a crazy statistic. Since 2011, Mets are 41 games under .500.

In comparison, one game over .500 on the road.

Sidenote, where is Burkhardt going next season? I know he has been doing NFL on FOX, but I think this is his last with the Mets. KB will be missed for sure.

EDIT:

He will be the primary studio host for Major League Baseball (MLB) telecasts on FOX and Fox Sports 1 beginning with the 2014 season.[3]

From Wiki. Good for him!

After his gig with SNY, it doesn't feel right seeing him in studio.  it was weird seeing him in studio for football

Big fan of Burkhardt. Dude really seems to enjoy what he's doing, and I think he's a good fit not only for baseball analysis, but the NFL as well.

Joe Buck on the other hand...

Its good to see the front office make some moves. I'm sure it won't really help, but they are trying to change it up.

This organization is such a **** show.  Some good pieces but as a whole, it's a nightmare...constant missteps and so poorly handled.

There really need to be changes from top to bottom and like most, if not all, of us have said before it starts with the Wilpons.  It's getting to the point where there's no way we can be a NY team, specifically this one, and not spend money.  They can't just scrape the bottom of the barrel for relievers and gap fillers and expect it to be a successful product.  We have the potential to have incredible starting pitching but the bullpen is bound to consistently ruin it.  Yeah, they'll have stretches where they're fine and no bullpen is going to have a 0.00 ERA but they're awful overall.

We don't have enough offensive firepower, lack clutch hitters and don't have a true leadoff hitter.  There are no gamechangers offensively.  Wright's good.  Grandy has been a lot better since his awful start but strikes out way too much.  Lagares has been solid and is great in center, hope he can continue.  Murphy can hit and had been fielding pretty well (all things considered) but it's like he can't get out of his own way sometimes.  Who knows with d'Arnaud, has the potential and was looking better at the plate so hopefully he rebounds from this concussion.  Duda is disappointing, the Youngs are very mediocre, Tejada is absolutely terrible and shouldn't even be in the majors.

I don't care how good our starting pitching can be, that is nowhere near a postseason caliber offensive (probably even defensive) team and we can expect young starters to consistently go 7+, let alone do it for a full season without blowing out their arms.  Dave Hudgens is right, speaking from a hitting standpoint, in that unless they're willing to spend some, we'll just have very average players at the plate.

Lagares needs to lead off. I'm liking Eric Campbell and Duda at 1st.

We need that clean up hitter in the lineup. That's what's missing.

Oh and Travis needs to start getting it together. Plawecki been balling in triple A.
