Real Talk the 90s RnB Bench riders could wash every RnB cat out right now

As a far as what happened to the genre all the labels closed their r&b divisions. Then  so called super producers "learned" white acts are more lucrative.

Me and my sister still say " Going to the afterparty" like Horace brown to this da because of that song.

Hi Five ain't bench riders. But I don't disagree with the thread at all.

Rome
Blu

Those guys were bench riders

yea I was watching Tariq Nasheed and RL from Next touched on that, your timbalands and etc saw the White cats were where the money at, so if you notice Justin Timberlake and company have a more true RnB sound than your Trey Songs and them.

R&B production and content is too rap/Hip-Hop influenced. 90% of R&B acts today also rap too.

The liner notes on Justified are an R&B Dream Team. Look at all the clowns lining up to make joints with "Bieberveli." ****'s disgustin.

R&b dudes have always rapped. Look at New Edition even. "Cool it now" had a rap verse. Bobby Brown stayed rhyming on tracks. Usher rapped on "Nice n slow." The problem is dudes now genuinely can't sing. Chris Brown is a dancer with a microphone and he's considered top shelf right now.

Yea playa was dope Static Major was suppose to be a legend man smh, it's wild he essentially fathered Pleasure Ps style.

IMO Llyod and Bobby V should be running the game they made some of the best Rnb in the 2000s then just got lazy or something

Neither of them have the "image".

But yeah, Bobby V especially had some major heat.

Tim & Bob FTW.

If Bobby V wasn't 5'4", he'd probably be a star.

The Muder Inc. G-Unit beef killed Lloyd's career. Bullets aint got no names and he got caught out there. Plus, Irv kept on betting the house on Ja Rule instead of putting more money into Lloyd which is part of the reason he ultimately left the label. All of his albums fizzle out midway through due to the drop off in production quality which relegated him to a B class level.

R Kelly literally stole that Mans Soul like Soulja and then dropped the style when New Jack swing era ended smh

Without a doubt. People love arguing about rap being dead but nothing has flat lined like R&B. Such a shame too.
