3rd Gen Acura TL Owners Enter

nice! i used to trade cars with my buddy just for kicks when we would grab food and his manual TSX was pretty fun to drive

when I first got my Type-S i went a little mod happy: XLR8 quad exhaust, AEM v2 intake, HID foglight kit, interior LEDs
but long drives with that exhaust on got annoying after awhile so I sold it. i still miss it sometimes
my favorite was when my gf would take my car out to run errands while i was sleeping and I got to hear it rumbling down the street while in bed :frown:
At 28 years old, I got tired of it. It was troublesome driving on lowered cars with thin tires. Next nice car will be a 911 S in a couple of years.

I had to stop and take a break and walk around with the Evo if I was driving more than 2 hours

Aw man. I unno if I'm down with that. What "luxury" vehicles take unleaded?

I can't think of any dip set

With only $2k, I would get a Civic or Accord. Both take 87 and the 4 cylinders are great on gas.

Hmmm I like cheap gas.

a fully loaded accord v6 or maxima lol

semi srs

Hmmmm... I like Maxima's.

I think he means what car does not take premium gas. Lexus takes premium

Ohh okay.

Man u wanna roll luxury but crying about a .20 difference in gas prices? Foh.

 real spit, right there

How much did you end up paying for her ?

I went thru Carmax, so it was $13,500, a tad higher than a TL with my options and mileage (117K) would usually go. If you cash in hand and/or good credit score I would go thru a private owner or dealer. You'll get a MUCH better deal. My situation was different, but in the end I got what I wanted in addition to the peace of mind I had a clean car and a warranty.

All these TL's take premium gas?

Hey OP, I have $2000 on me and a 635-680 credit score, could I get a TL too?

Yep! I only put $2500 down and from what my CU was telling me I didn't even have enough established credit to get a loan.

OP what's your interest rate looking like? You went through the dealer right?

6.95 which is higher than the 4.95 I was quoted when I was looking at a non-Navi a few weeks prior to my purchase. I'll probably refinance before the year is over though

For now my only "mod" I'm doing is tint, I just have to start calling around making sure I can get the moleskin installed as well.

I had an 04 Accord coupe V6 in 2004 and I loved it. I sold it because I wanted a manual. It would probably run well to this day if I kept it

My Bimmer gave me major headaches after it hit 70k miles so I sold it quickly after I did a little cost and benefit eval.

What specific problems did it guve you?

Somebody school me on the TL i have 6k saved up so far im thinking about getting an 05-07 was looking for a type s but that might be too much , and i wanna know how it is on gas premium down here is 4 dollars  and i drive a suv i just need a car for school and work nothing too flashy tho .

Those TL has terrible gas mileage....my 1996 impala gave better mileage than that.

I was looking at one but I opt out for a Toyota. carvana.com is the way to buy a car!!!

i get bad gas mileage... not everyones gas mileage will be the same.. its always different... mods, rims, tires, driving style, city, freeway... how the car was/ is maintained, hell even the gas you get...

just came back from the dealership , went to see a 05 TL car had 90k miles on it everything was fine the only flaw was the crack dashboard it was badly crack and they're asking 8200 for it with dealer fees and everything included .

I replaced my whole HID Kit last night, so I had to unplug the battery. Now when I turn on my radio it says "ENTER CODE." Any suggestions??

Of course I can't find the owners manual. Is there a universal code I can use or do I have to call an Acura dealer for assistance?

open your glove compartment and check if there is a sticker on the left side (outter surface)

should have your code there

Not a 3rd gen owner but have the ilx. Love this car , gets about 35mpg and the white with black windows looks clean.

Is that supposed to be the new version of the Integra?

I still want a 3rd gen Tl type S.

Wife just got her license and she is starting to hog my g35 coupe. Too bad a red light runner totaled my maxima :smh:

I need to get her into something.

Ok, did some research and figured out how to find the code. If you don't have the sticker in your glove compartment here's what you can do:

For Acura TLs 2002 and up.

-Turn your radio off.

- Turn key to the ON position. Do not start, just leave ignition in ON position.

- Press and hold the numbers 1 and 6 on your radio with one hand.

- Using your other hand, turn the radio on while keeping 1 and 6 pressed.

- Ten characters will appear on the screen, usually alphanumeric. Write down all the numbers you see.

- The display toggles between two screens: U with the first 4 digits of the serial number (U2200 for example,)

- And L with the last 4 digits of the serial number (L0055 for example.)

- Ignore the U and L and record all 8 digits

In my case, I didn't have the U or L in front of the serial number, just the digits.

Go to https://radio-navicode.acura.com/ and select the "GET CODES" tab. Enter your VIN #, Zip Code, Phone Number, Email, and the 8 digit Serial Number you wrote down from the display screen. Hit submit and your radio code should pop up on the next screen.

Hope this helps. :nthat: :nthat:

Don't think its the new version of the Integra. In fact, don't think they modeled this off of any of their older models. They are trying to introduce a new entry level luxury car. I think the Integra was more focused on sport. They are trying to compete with Lexus IS, BMW 1 and 3 series, and a few others.
