Cosmos A spacetime odyssey 3/9

I'm a bit cynical towards mainstream science/astronomy.
Expand on this.
Just like many religions/beliefs are full of beautiful worded "truth" that often leave people in awe without questioning it; one can also think same goes to mainstream science and astronomy. If NDT told the truth, he wouldn't have a job right now.
tin foil alert

you must be privy to some other truth so unless you share "the truth" with everyone here, these kinds of statements are empty

this is on HULU by the way if you all want to catch it

the original COSMOS is too ill. carl sagan had a way of speaking that just captivated you and made you ponder your existence and connection to everything.

ndt doesn't quite do the same, but he's knowledgeable and a more familiar type of personality that i think a lot of the newer generations can look up to

I'm with @papageorgeo510 on this. It's easy to fall victim to glamorized interpretations of our existence. For the most part though, all this stuff physics is "proving" has already been explained in ancient texts. Alternate dimensions? See the Kabbalah. Anti matter? See melanin. Jesus Christ? See consciousness. Because western philosophy disregards everything not parallel with its train of thought, or hijacks it and passes it off as it's own it's easy to get put in awe mode.

I haven't watched the show yet so I won't pass judgement. I'm just going in weary because of the passive propaganda that usually comes with these type of shows.

wuuuuuuut

I'm not trying to derail this thread. I'm not sure if you're actually inquiring about the highlighted portion either or being sarcastic. If you are serious take the journey and don't look back.

PM me whatever the hell you're talking about

Recorded the first episode today, started to watch and it was nascar

Personality aside, show me the similarity.

Anti matter has no concept of color. It is a particle, one thats colorless at that.

Melanin's properties extend beyond the pigment in skin color.

It exhibits chaotic behavior difficult to track and understand much like the aforementioned antimatter.

I can see the confusion in my post If it seemed I was making a physical connection, I was speaking more so from a spiritual/metaphysical point of view.

First impression:

Why start the show off with depicting that our history of pursuing the stars starts with a "European" hunter gatherer. I get this is a small piece of the show but it already sets an undertone for a specific agenda to be pushed.

I remember reading about melanin's cosmetic properties, when I was big on esoterism and I think Tariq Elite tried to make that connection in one of his Hidden Colors videos.

Either way I don't like the amount of commercials the first episode had, so I'll prolly catch it on DVR or something

Again

NDT blatantly says ancients had no knowledge of Uranus, and wasn't recently discovered until the telescope.

Taken from an ancient sumerian tablet. Won't even go in the kemetic understanding of the universe. Personally, this why it's difficult for me to watch stuff like this. I understand this may not be common knowledge, but for someone of his scholarly background it just doesnt add up. He's still saying light is the fastest thing in the universe, yet sound has been proven to travel faster. Not downplaying his intelligence but like anything pushed from the big networks it comes with an agenda. With that said theres been some beautiful visuals for this so far.

need to catch that first episode before the second one tonight, heard great things about the show

Some would argue that 10th planet is Nibiru, and that far 11th dot is Sirius. I'm not educated enough on the subject to connect the dots so I wont open the can of worms.

For the discussion of the show's sake, how can they reach back to a man's dream which has no scientific merit and then make it the segue-way for Copernicus's portion. Even if the ancients didn't have everything figured out completely, it would seem like that would be a better starting point then a man with a dream.  Noticed that they slyly introduced the idea of the correct interpretation of the world came from Europeans. So far this show seems like nothing more then an attempt to push the agenda of Scientology with fancy visuals.

just caught the first vid and I could see why there would be complaints

that whole segment with bruno reading the book, having a dream, etc. :\
