As the initial means of breaking the news to the families though? No way.
I'm glad they cleared up that SMS wasn't the first method. That would have been horrible.

I have a hard time believing that bro. You're sitting at home watching TV, at work in a meeting, or in the car and you receive a text that your family who has been missing is dead. That's ok with you?

If my family member was missing in a plane crash that was part of a worldwide media frenzy, and I got a personal text from the organization handling the search, I would have no problem with an authorized message regardless of what format it came in. I would have no problem, just as long as I don't hear it first from some douchebag on CNN.
