Marlon Wayans & Lord Jamar Twitter beef over Omar Epps rocking a leather mini Skirt

Because it's the discussion at hand it just so happens that Vlad is using him to create buzz around said discussion but you know damn well nobody is there to discuss anything involving Jamar.

Your post are full of hypocrisy. If his opinion isn't worth talking about. Why did you come in a thread clearly labeled Lord Jamar? I don't care about Lil Boosie. I don't go in the Lil Boosie thread. It's pretty easy.

What were you hoping to discuss? All you did was get emotional and rant and rave about Lord Jamar and not even discuss the topic. Do you even know what this topic was in reference too?

So you believe men should wear skirts? Because that's what you're defending...odd. At least some NTers stated their opinion on him and added a but. regarding the skirt subject.

Sorry to the other posters for interrupting this thread, but this will be my last response to Magic anyways.

1. The thread is clearly only about "whether men can wear skirts" for you, but people are discussing larger and different related issues about race, sexuality, and the hip-hop community as well. If you don't want to take part in that conversation that's fine with me, and if that makes me a skirt supporter to you that's fine with me, but that's not really what I'm discussing so I don't care.

2. Although I specifically mentioned Lord Jamar because this conversation was started by his actions, my real point had to do with older OGs of hip-hop that have faded from the limelight, using every interview chance they get to insert their name back in the news with controversy and hating. Lord Jamar personally has done a lot of this in my opinion, in multiple instances like the one I noted about his feelings on white people in the rap industry.

I'm still not looking to debate anything with you, because you are clearly just worried about whether I fit into the "support skirts" or "don't support skirts" group. As I stated earlier, if my comment doesn't seem to belong in this thread to you, you can either ignore me, or send me a PM and I'd be happy to assist you in blocking my further posts.

Breh you know damn well if this was named the official Lord Jamarr thread nobody would be in it it's clearly labeled that a beef between two black men was started because of a comment on skirts... Lord Jamar is easily the least important thing mentioned in the title lets keep it a buck.
I disagree with you there champ.  Many of Lord Jamar's comments and videos have been posted here on NT and have gained interest in the past.  That's why you see so many posters in here trying to insinuate that Lord Jamar is "irrelevant" and trying to downplay his contributions to hip hop and Brand Nubian.  It's not enough that these same posters don't agree with him or his message, they want to try and tear the man down for his views in the process.

Why do you think Lord Jamar is concerned with controversy or hating??  Maybe, just maybe he is giving his honest opinion on the question or questions that are being asked to him.

You don't think it's a coincidence that every Lord Jamar thread people come running in all emotional about his opinion? I hate Lord Jamar. He needs to shut up. He's washed up...blah blah.

I don't know about you, but people I don't care about. I don't even care enough about them to read their opinion.

People went in on twitter on Omar Epps. Why did Marlon respond to only Lord Jamar? Because he's gained a popularity lately with the Vlad vids. That's why Vlad keeps posting more.

Do you think NT would devote this much attention to what Brian Pumper thinks about skirts?

Why do you think Lord Jamar is concerned with controversy or hating??  Maybe, just maybe he is giving his honest opinion on the question or questions that are being asked to him.

Exactly. It's crazy people give their opinion on message boards all day, but then get upset when someone else gives theirs.

I do think it's possible that he's giving his own honest opinions. But honest opinions can also be controversial or driven by hatred/jealousy.

I think Lord Jamar probably does have some legitimate qualms with hip-hop changing from the time in which he was relevant, but I think he also has found out that the more controversial or attacking these comments are, the more VladTV interviews he gets signed up for. The evolution of style in hip-hop is a common topic due to it's constant changing as trends come & go. It's my opinion that with his new found popularity due to controversy stirred up on the internet, Jamar has crowned himself protector of a bunch of old ideals which he feels are 100% essential to hip-hop. The points he has made and the way that he explains them, often lead me to characterize him as a person that has become almost obsessed with the life and changing cultures of others & trying to hold them back. I'm not saying that wearing skirts is "moving forward", but just because it isn't moving in the direction Jamar would like it to, doesn't necessarily mean that it's backwards either.

In 2014, I'd love to see an interview with Lord Jamar about the days he loved so much & his great memories with Brand Nubian because they were a part of the foundation that all the skirt wearers have built upon. Unfortunately 9/10 interviews he does are specifically about his negative feelings towards current day artists and trends because that is the reason he has gotten himself relevant again. As a fan of his music, I wish it was on other terms, and think he is intellectual enough that he could've chosen to approach his honest feelings in a different less combative way, if that is what he's really trying to do.

Before I address the rest of your points, I just want to be certain of something because it seems like the sentences I highlighted above are a contradiction to me.  Just for clarity, do you feel as though wearing skirts is moving forward/evolution of style in hip hop?

When i say "evolution of style" & "forward", I don't mean that it is necessarily progress or better. And "no" is my answer to your question when phrased that way, because I think the skirt thing is far more of an offshoot trend that I doubt will ever hit with a vast majority of hip-hop fans. However I do think that it is a small part of the entire "constantly changing fashion scene in the hip-hop world". One that clearly has people wanting to share opinions. I don't think it warrants becoming Lord Jamar's most discussed topic though, even if it disgusts him. I'm pretty sure I've seen the topic of "Rappers/Black Men wearing skirts" come up more in the last few months because of Jamar than due to the people actually rocking them.

....and btw let me be clear: You would not catch me dead in a skirt. You also wouldn't catch me discussing it and valuing my opinion as being any more important than yours or even Lord Jamar's. I also wouldn't start a media tour trying to stop it like it's the plague either....I just wanted to join in on the discussion w/ my NT fam.

no you don't have to be homosexual. my question is do the guys defending men wearing skirts wear skirts themselves. would make a lot of this thread make sense if they did.
Yea, if I had a one track mind I'd see how jumping to this conclusion would make sense. Not everyone thinks like that, thank goodness.
think like what and what conclusion did i jump to? you seem confused. i asked a question. in order for me to have jumped to a conclusion i would have had to say something i thought was a fact. again i asked a question. i haven't jumped to any conclusions.

Thanks for the clarification on your viewpoint on the "evolution of style".  As far as Lord Jamar goes, I honestly view his comments on this matter and others that he has recently spoke on as him just trying to help the culture/community that he is apart of.  I don't see it as hating and I don't see it as him trying to stir up controversy.

The problem that WE have in our community IMO is that hardly anyone speaks up these days, as everyone has just gotten accustom to just letting things slide.  We have let things slide so far back, and haven't spoken up enough that some things have actually gotten worse and not enough knowledge or education is being spread.  As Michael Irvin said on the NFL Network on a totally different topic......"We're losing recipes".

So between Lord Jamar, Marlon Wayans, Omar Epps and a leather mini skirt, Jamar is the "least important"?

man i miss them days when nh would deuce all over deuce and put him in his place
Let me tell you something champ, if you actually believe that then you probably believe NH was just a few pennies short of finally purchasing the Jesus piece.

noody got time for all that angry black dude noise
It's amazing how whenever a black man speaks his mind, particularly in a mature and calm manner he's always labeled as some sort of angry/militant black man.  Gotta try to keep those stereotypes alive I see, SMH.  It's always an attempt, and in this case as it pertains to @Blue Lion a rather cheap attempt at best to try and label a brotha and try to portray him in a negative light.  If you are going to try and emulate NH and mention his name the least you can do is do a better job with your responses, try to be more ignorant the next time around champ.  Make him proud.
