NT, convince me "cutting the cord" is a good idea

No problem man and its the Performance 25 Internet I get from them.25 mbps and I live by myself so its more than enough. Even when my girl is over and she is streaming and im streaming as well no slow down or buffering whatsoever and its no data restrictions too.

Ok thanks.

Man I`m
there is actually data caps now with comcast, I have the 75 mb but I pay 78 bucks since the promo period is over. I`m ready for these Google fiber rollouts to start next yr.

I have xf preferred, and I'm planning on getting rid of it very soon. If I only keep internet it will be 80+tax for 150 mbps. 3 of us in the house and we all use at least two devices. We don't use the house phone at all anymore, and barely watch TV shows. There is a handful of shows that I watch some of them I can get on HULu. I'm really starting to see how much of waste this plan is for me and the family now.

Between work and school we barely have the time to get in real tv time. I catch up on shows over the wknd, then I watch netflix. I definitely need to get rid of this bill, too bad we aren't eligible for new promotions. The bill is in wifey's name, and I thought about cancelling then starting an account in my name, but that seems like too much.

I was gonna say, there's a 300 gig cap with Comcast now, unless you get the unlimited plan which is an extra like 30 I think. Or 10 for every 50 gigs you go over. I gotta check my usage but I know I've been over the past couple months. Need that Google fiber asap.

I heard about the data caps but it hasnt hit Houston yet. The first thing I wanted was Google Fiber but it wasnt offered in the area smh. Im ready as well.

Yea I`m ATL.

What sucks is people in the Burbs get more options than intown because I assume it cost more to roll out stuff. Like my mom in the burbs has ATT Uverse Gigapower offered on her street. Google Fiber is currently under construction right now and sign ups are to start next yr.

Got a lil problem here, been through 2 different hd antennas for picking up over the air channels, and with both i only get cbs and 17 other crap (ion, qvc, etc. channels.first one was a cheapo $20 joint from target, and second and current one is the 1byone from amazon. I tried various locations and even got it taped to the window. Could i just be in a dead zone? Im about 15 miles from the broadcast towers so i dont think thats the issue. Any input is appreciated.

This weekend I'm going to put my antenna in my attic. Growing up my parents had their (analog) antenna in the attic, and it worked great. The signal is generally better the higher you go, but it's protected from the elements compared to putting it outside on the roof.

I don't know why yall bundle your home phone services with your cable tv/cable internet/home security plans.

How the hell you gonna bother you gonna contact your service providers if all your services go down?  Don't tell me your smartphones b/c yall really think it is worth it to spend your damn cell phone bill on a damn service phone call with an Xfinity call center agent that will not do jack**** to help fix your problem.

I can never understand people's rationale in bundling phone service together with anything.......that is probably the one thing you want separate when any of your **** gets any outage.

If anything, that is where you can begin the cord cutting right there and flip your phone service over to a separate provider at a cheaper price

the real question is who the hell still uses home phone lol
**** is cheaper than those smartphone plans you get from T-Mo/AT&T 'doe  LOL

But on the real yeah, that is where people need to stop getting screwed over by ISPs on bundling a phone line you would rarely use or don't use at all (or won't be able to use when all your **** gets an outage)

not if you have homE Phone AND a cell phone which is pointless.

The issue is there is literally no competition in America when it comes to ISPs

You'd be surprised how foolish many people do this on a regular, hell.........look at some of the really old posts in this thread for reference.

It literally took my fam 7 years to realize how stupid it was to keep a home phone bundled with Comcast's tv and internet plan (and b/c of that **** gateway modem we are forced to use ), and they had their own individual cell phone plans to boot.

I have a phone phone because it is the cheapest way for me to call back to my island.

My grandma's house don't have internet, so not magic jack action

Posting for research.

My comcast bill is enormous. For 3 people...we have 2 DVR boxes so cable with hbo, internet, home phone, and our home alarm is through them ($30 a month). Monthly total is $296 :smh:

Comcast has a monopoly over Baltimore city basically unless you want dish. And i am about done with them and their terrible customer service
Damn :smh:

They don't have direct tv out there?

Ok, I JUST got my FireStick.

What is everything I need to LEGALLY do before I start using it?

Please respond

If you're not using Kodi your fire stick is good to go out of the box. What are you using it for?
So what I plan on doing.

WWE Network

UFC Fight Pass

NBA TV

NBA Gametime

ESPN

Travel Channel

Food Network

Netflix

Hulu

Live Basketball

How do I get the bolded items, because that is what I am clueless about.

I can follow the KODI directrions and get it running fine.

So you're essentially looking for live TV?

Yes Kodi itself is legal, but those addons that allow live tv, movie channels, ppv, etc are ILLEGAL. Just an fyi for people who's jobs require them to be on the straight and narrow lifestyle.
