Has anyone successfully landed a job (or even a interview) from this site?
If so do you have any tips on getting a call or email?
I have been applying for multiple jobs for years to no avail.

Got hired for TSA. But quit shortly after... they were only giving me 24-32 hours.

*Raises hand*

Landed an EE internship right out of high school and then a co-op after my sophomore year.

Best tip I have is to look through the listing and try to cater your resume to each job you apply to, because from what I hear they only use a keyword search due to the amount of submissions the receive.

Sometimes it has contact information on the job posting too, if it's actually someone's email address it wont hurt to write that person an email letting them know you're interested

I landed a Computer Science Air Force Pathways Internship last May and didn't have an interview. I was surprised I landed it, I applied to 19 jobs on there received nothing but "this vacancy has been canceled" or "sorry you were not selected" emails. Honestly just keep applying... only takes 5 minutes to complete an application.

Veterans will always get first priority over civilians. It's really a tough avenue to gain a position if you're a civilian.

Don't waste your time on this website. If you're not being hooked up with a government gig, forget it.

been with the Feds for going on 13 years now.

did a military stint
worked for FEMA for 8 years
then landed back in DoD working for the Air Force in 2013

apply
apply
apply
apply
apply

then apply some more
seriously

i also suggest using an impact resume format

at one time my FEMA location was doing major layoffs, i didnt want to be on the outside looking in so i adjusted my USAJobs email alerts, switched up my resume and went HAM on the applications.

one day i got an email to report to work at x time on x day
no interview or nothing
just show up

that was a year ago
still working

even tho im a vet
dont be discouraged if you arent one
you just gotta keep at it

In the process of getting hired. Its taking forever but we'll see what happens.

be patient and stay on top of them

it took damn near 2 months from the day i got my email to start

they WILL drop the ball
so make sure you call them, if you wait on them to call you you may lose the job

the HR person that was assigned to me to give me my appointments for inprocessing couldnt have cared less
it was up to me to stay on top of it

Recently, I applied for the US Capitol Police(Here In the DMV) back in November and in January, I got an email that I was selected for the next phase. I had the assessment back on 2/22, but I had to let the recruiter know that I couldn't make it that day for personal reasons, but they let told me that it is another assessment sometime next month, so things looks to be going good. I was super surprised that mines went through as well because I never get through USA Jobs.. Federal Law enforcement is what i want to do, so hopefully I get in with them.

Yup took about 5 weeks to completely finish the process, god it was so slow. Just stay on top of the HR person, best to do that with any job. I feel if you don't show enough interest they will forget about you.

I'm doing this now.

Been applying the last two weeks.
I will be a vet tho, plan on getting out the AF this summer.

Shall see, hired a resume writer who writes resumes catered to landing Govt jobs.

+1. I interviewed and was offered a position at the end of Nov. 2013. I didn't actually get hired until Jan. 2014 after sending weekly emails to my interviewers and HR contact.

They don't care if you get hired or not. In all likelihood, they probably want you to not get the job

i applied for a Legislative Information Specialist opening with the Library of Congress a few days ago...found out my coworker did as well

Got an interview for an internship back in 04-05. Funding got dropped so didn't get the job. Haven't had any luck since but I don't apply for much. On the hunt now though so we'll see..

This. I have been  told this by many gov't people, every time I ask if there are any openings they say "are you ex military? If not it will be rough". Might depend on what field you are trying to get into or the position level that may give you a better chance, I wouldnt solely depend on jobs from this website the process takes forever, and right now it may be tougher than ever due to budgets.

civilian, landed a job a little over two years ago. Landed another job last year with the same company, but the location is here in Japan. Here ever since.

the upsetting part is it really IS that HR persons job to have all of your appointments and paperwork lined up

they are ASSIGNED your profile and it is literally their job to move you through the process once you get that hire email

to put it all in perspective,
you have to get a physical before you start right?

i call my HR person a week before my start date (mind you, its been close to 30 days since i got my letter), suddenly she *gasps* because she forgot to set up my physical

she puts me on 3way and calls to make my appointment

how about when they picked up the phone they told her it was at least a 45 day wait on physicals

not only that but they pretty much told her that the 45 day wait wasnt new at all and that she knew better than to wait so late in the game

they had to push my start date back another 30 days because of this chick

i ended up offering and paying for the physical myself instead of waiting

Never got a job through them. Only applied for summer internships when I was in high school though. Been getting a crap tone of messages to interview on LinkedIn though. Not direct government work, but contract jobs that will have you working for them anyway.
