So I sold a pair of Kobe 9 Allstars for $355, the guy receives them and says, "Have they been worn at all? Upon inspection there was much dust and a bit of dirt on the sole. What was more concerning was that there were scuff marks all along the midsole of the shoe, one in particular was relatively big and I snapped a picture."

Meanwhile I have no clue wtf he is talking about as the shoes were sent to him completely new, and he says that he wants his money back and is opening a case with eBay. This is the picture he provided:

U shoulda included dat pic in the listing.

Any little thing nowadays is a big thing.

Chances are he found a better deal or didn't want them anymore and needed the money for the new cool pair that's coming out and was just needing an excuse to return them. Just be happy you got them back :smh: eBay sucks

he didn't open the case yet (he still has the shoes), I'm hoping he'll realize he's ******ed and he'll end up being satisfied with what he got.

He's probably going to return his worn pair and keep your DS pair

he actually did ask for a "partial refund" in that message, or "some kind of return" but I pretty much ignored it and said that any damage done during shipping is not my fault and that the "production issues" are so extremely minor… dust and dirt? come on now

Tell him to return them in the same condition for a refund or kick rocks.

I wouldn't go that route bro. You're pretty much at his mercy with a charge back or "item is not as described + send you beat shoes.

If you have pictures in your auction of the heel without the scuff you might be able to win. Otherwise, these days ebay is just forcing refunds, they dont care who was right or wrong or what the evidence is. A buyer is unhappy, he gets his money back 9 times out of 10 regardless of the reason. Oh and what I recently learned is that if 0.4% or more of your transactions in the last 12 months result in ebay having to step in on a dispute, you're suspended for 30 days minimum. I was suspended for having 4 disputes out of over 1100 transactions. The 4th dispute was a package lost by the post office, didnt matter.

By now it seems as if it was just an empty threat; likely he found a better deal but doesn't want to go through the process of having case opened, waiting a week and having eBay review it. He has not responded or opened a case since.

Tell him "kick rocks, you ain't getting jack ****." Then finish it off with a "the only way you're going to get money from me is if you come here and neck me up"

ahaha, I would so do that but eBay would suspend my account and force a refund hahaaa

and thats why i rarely sell online. people trying to get one over on you... always

eBay and the monopoly they have with Paypal sucks so bad.  Their policies are so nonsensical that I've just given up this point though I still have some high value items I want to sell, mostly not sneakers and I've noticed it seems to be worse with sneakers than anything else.  No idea if it's a bunch of teenagers using mom & dad's credit card for an account who have no concept of money or good business practices or what.

Some kid bid at the last second on one of my auctions, ignored my messages and invoices and finally responded like 5 days later saying he's sorry for the inconvenience, he might be able to pay when he gets his check next Friday, I should try to sell it for more to someone else, etc.  "I didn't mean to waste your time."  I relist it and he finally pays that Friday.  Then we had 3 big snowstorms in like 5 days and I wasn't able to ship until the following Thursday...dude doesn't even contact me but instead opens up a case and leaves me negative feedback.

Guy in France bought an item for $750+ from me...sends me a message in French which basically translates to "I haven't gotten it", tracking says it's at the local post office and he opens up a case so my Paypal account is WAY in the negative and they reversed a big withdrawal I had just made.  He gets the package but I was without that money and couldn't use my Paypal account for almost a week.
