Planning a weekend to Chicago..

i mean wearing that hat isn't the bestttt idea but its not that bad. especially where he is staying. Downtown won't be a bother. Cocking of the hats too.... But chicago is a blast and worrying bout that stuff should be number 20058834383 on your worry list. just have fun.
Cool ill probably be wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins hat like always, especially since im going right around when playoffs start. Im not really worried tho i heard its a beautiful city so i cant wait! thanks for all the tips in this thread def checking some of these places out.

What's the significance of the hat? Is it gang affiliated or something? I don't wear hats so it never concerned me on my visits but I can remember some dude from my office telling me to be careful what baseball cap I wore when I went

i honestly just wear it because i am a fan of the team

left or right is basically what side of the fence u are in the gang world. Doesn't hurt any of us in the city. if you are downtown and wrigley and areas alike its a blast. you more than likely wont see even a minute of the "violent" chicago.

Gangster disciple's use a pitch fork as one of their signs. That old mariners logo is basically a pitchfork upside down so wearing that hat is basically asking to get ran on by some gd's. I wouldn't really worry about it if you plan on being downtown though.

Gioradonos pizza :smokin

Must go to Garret's for popcorn no matter how long the wait is. Chicago mix all day.

Also if you have time go to the museum of science and industry. a lot of fun interactive things to do there the place is huge you could spend hours there and not see everything.

Downtown dog is good it's a few blocks east of the gioradonos that we go to

got back yesterday...

I envy you CHI Nter's..you guys have an AWESOME city with very friendly people...can''t wait to go back

feel like we did a ton and still didn't scratch the surface...thanks for all the suggestions !

cliffnotes go like this...

friday

checked in, walked about a mile and had a few drinks @ stocks and blondes..very cool local place, and packed up quick for the cubs game...walked over to rock bottom, didn't even grab a beer because we felt we were at applebees (spot on NT, I should have listened)  walked over to Monk's pub, had some goose islands and a spicy turken reuben, again very cool place.  Headed to willis tower and did the skydeck experience...tried to get into gibson's steakhouse but a table was not available so went over to blue agave for some maragritas...

saturday...brunch @ hutch...walked over to wrigleyville, had a few beers at a bar (can't remember name) then headed to the Cubs game, stayed for about 6 innings then headed to goose island...then we took a cab to the bean and walked to garrets then back to our hotel to shower...tried to get into gibson's and signature room but no tables available until 10:30 so we went to gino's east and got a deep dish...delicious...

iphone pics..

Love Monks and Stocks n Blondes. Looks like you enjoyed it. Next time you're in town, I'd recommend hitting up the West Loop restaurant scene. The great part about Chicago? I've lived her for 6.5 years, and I've still got stuff to see.

Thanks for the re-cap...can't believe you struck out twice at Gibson's...maybe its gotten more popular than normal over the years. No matter, the deep dish you had was just as satisfying  and probably $100 cheaper

I was there last year and Second City for sure. Really talented people there. One of the girls there is now a writer for SNL.

I just caught one of their side shows and dont want to sound like a hater but, this revue was really underwhelming...the actors were very talented but the material they covered has been done to death (bro culture, gen x/y heavy smart usage, online dating, absurdity of over using social networks, amongst others)...i chuckled a few time but just couldnt get into but 95% of the audience seemed to love it, just wasnt for me

I was in Chicago last summer. Went up both the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Building, caught a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, went to the house from Home Alone.

I can say that I had a good time in the Chi.

As far as food spots go, I went to the following places...

Hash Browns (Breakfast joint)
Twin Anchors (Great ribs. A scene The Dark Knight was filmed there, didn't know until afterwards)
China Doll (Random Chinese takeout joint)
Harold's Chicken Shack (The one on S. Wabash in the Loop is probably the most famous one)

Lou Malnati's
Ed Debevic's (It's since closed)
Nando's (Chain restaurant, but they're not that big in the U.S...yet)
Chicago's Dog House (Had an alligator dog)
Pequod's (The best deep dish pizza in Chicago)
Strings Ramen (Not the type of ramen you buy at the supermarket either)
Mash Kitchen (It was okay)
Brasa Roja Restaurant (Colombian joint, they serve rabbit)
Gibsons Steakhouse (Expensive, but my uncle paid for it
