JAMES BOND movie thread: RIP Sir Sean Connery - NO TIME TO DIE 10/08/21

Movie was solid. Never was big on Craig's "stone cold" portrayal of Bond but he did well here.
Waltz was not used to his fullest here though, the screen time was very minimal and we really got nothing out of him until close to the end of the movie. He killed it of course though

I'm laughin at everyone bothered or upset about it bein predictable, or havin a checklist to run thru.

It's the TWENTY FOURTH Bond film, of ******* course you always know he's going to win, or they'll have taglist lines, setups, scenes etc. That's what James Bond movies are.

Bond. James, Bond.
Shaken, not stirred.
Licence to kill.
007 is on his own
Multiple beautiful women.
Wearing an impeccable suit during a fight.
Gadgets.
Insane cars.

Car chase, plane chase, helicopter, boat, train, multiple countries, snow, desert, city.

EVERY movie has that **** guys.

Stupid complaints to be complaining about what the entire franchise is built on.

I liked a lot of it. Not a perfect film, but still very well done.
LOVE connecting all four films. The photos, the cameos by White and M, the mentions, tying all of the orgs to Spectre, Blowfeld, all of it. That is your unique angle within the Bond universe. The way they've tied stories/scripts together.
Loved the scenery. The locales they used were only surpassed by Royale.

Royale of course is the best, but to me, Spectre was every bit the equal to Skyfall. And I think Solace is very, very underrated. All 4 are very, very good.

I hope they do a 5th, but I understand if they move on as well.

7.5/8

I feel the same way.

I'd watch it again in theaters TBH.

Like I said, I was thoroughly entertained. I'd give it an 8/10

If this is in fact Craig's last Bond movie, he goes down as the best Bond , to me at least.

Couldn't agree more greatest bond of all time well for me that is. And I need to see it again. Went to dinner ate a huge steak and movie showing at 11:15pm was so tired couldn't concentrate and dosed off for a minute or two smh need to see again

i hate when people say this  Everyone knows the hero wins, but how the hero gets there is what keeps everyone invested in the story.

I dont mind all the classic Bond quotes, gadgets, action. Thats not what i'm disappointed with.

Basically the 3 main things that had me like :rolleyes and took me out of the movie

  • The Bond x Swann relationship was forced. Really they love each other already?? Nah, im not buying it. I've seen a legit Bond relationship already and that was with Vesper. That CR Vesper shower scene alone shows how genuine their bond was (pun intended).
  • Blofeld was talking about how he was the mastermind and i wish they showed me. I planned everything from the very beginning Ok filmmakers, i know you can make Christoph Waltz say that and y'all think that's good enough, but i want to see it. No flashbacks, no foreshadowing. Show me how badass he is, don't tell me. And his connection w/ Bond seemed forced and out of nowhere. The meteor monologue was great though.
  • MI5/6 "C" subplot was unnecessary tbh. Used up screen time that could've been given to other important things (showing how badass the Blofeld/Spectre really is)

I liked it better than skyfall. Not the goat bond movie but I didn't think it deserved reviews as bad as it has been getting.

Cp, you my dude.. But ummm, how you going say all of this?

And then go on about everything when comes time for Star Wars?

We all know certain things are to be expected in both movies.. But that doesn't mean they have to be lazy.. For that whole list of things you came up for of the bond franchise, image if they did the same thing for Star Wars (because they can.. And I'm sure George Lucas thought he did)

Saw the movie today in IMAX. Caught the early matinee showing and paid $13.50 instead of the regular $19 for IMAX at night.

I can honestly say I really enjoyed this Bond movie. It's far from being the best or that it doesn't have it's faults.

Everyone is their own critic when it comes to movies. I didn't pay attention to the bad reviews or hate being talked about it in here.

It's like really c'mon. I don't get how people go into action movies expecting them to be Oscar worthy

Skyfall and casino royale are farrrrrrrrrrrrr better movies than this..

Like quantum of solace, this left a lot to be desired.. But unlike that movie, this easily felt like there was a hell of lot better movie there to be made

To me, this is almost up there with Prometheus.. There was a far better movie in there, even with what was shot.. Because visuals were amazing.. And the actions shots were amazing

This is how Michael bay has been allowed to ruin the childhoods of many..

Inclusive of my own :smh:

People want a good movie regardless of genre. We have to learn not to settle for stuff that isn't good. The last action movie that really impressed me was Mad Max: Fury Road. Besides that it's hard to think of other recent good ones. I rarely go to the movies anymore because I'm not going to waste my money on stuff that doesn't deserve it.

Same. Almost everything I can wait for a couple weeks until a decent quality "stream" comes out. Never thought I'd say that TV is becoming better than movies. Many Netflix, HBO, and Showtime originals are much better than anything youd see in theatre these days. Even non premium cable channels are stepping their game up (FX, AMC, etc). I just dont see why I should pay to see a **** movie. Especially at close to $15 a ticket

Not even same realm.

Bond entire series is a formulaic movie by numbers. We've seen half a dozen reboots, the same jokes/quips across multiple films, hell, Austin Powers comedies are based off Bond films.

Star Wars prequels were complete misses on key plot points from previous movies. Be like Lucas doin Bond 25, "Bond. Jim, Bond. I like my martini with a lil ice and a lemon twist."

Complete failures to translate a script to what's already been written/said.

You can say that Waltz was a little underused, or a scene or two were shot poorly, maybe it was a smidge long, etc. Those are reasonable complaints you can discuss.

Sayin Bond was never gonna lose, or how could they be in love in two days, uhhhhhh, Versper Lynn spent what with James?

What else should we ***** about, them using classic Bond music AGAIN? Oh the nerve.

^ cp, you're missing my point.. Hell, you're making my point

I'm talking about execution.. Everything was there for a very very good bond movie, the actors, visuals and action.. But it just felt meh.. Everything just felt meh

When stuff was happening or happened, just didn't have the significance that they should have had.. While the movie didn't suffer from the exact same things of the Michael bay transformers movies.. It had a similar problems, with all of the action pieces in those movies, with a far better director these pieces would have been given substantially more significance and given the weight that they should have been given

With everything that got blown up and all the action that happened in this movie, just never felt as much as it truly was

To you. You.

I was completely fine with how it "felt".

Was it perfect? No.

But I don't buy for one second your "they missed a movie they could/should have had."

Significance, and weight?

You were lookin for somethin else, that's all. I got what I wanted out of the film and was more than satisfied.

My only small regrets were Waltz not having a lil more screen time, and the compound in Africa blowing up so easily. That's pretty much it. But doesn't ruin 2.5 hours of film.

@ me bruh

Vesper relationship was well-developed and allowed Bond's character to grow. Spectre chick felt forced. Blofeld gotta off her in the next movie

I'll just agree to disagree though, not tryna get into it over an average movie

It did cause everyone I talked to felt this movie was bland.

SPOILERS

-Car chase scene didnt feel as exciting as I thoughtit should.
-Ending was so lazy with just a shot from a little pistol to the helicopter.
-Blowing up the entire lair in the dessert with a single shot to the pipe felt lazy.
-Overall pace felt lazy.

It had every element for a Bond film but it did it in a meh way. I needed to pee during the movie but I held it incase it finally picked up and it never did. Smh.

Wasn't speakin about only your complaints. Multiple people in this thread were complaining about similar things. I wasn't gonna @ people one by one for each complaint.

^ with the right boss villain I have zero issue with them actually have screen time.. Like silence of the lambs, Anthony Hopkins deserved his award.. Even though he wasn't even the film that much, his presence was felt throughout it

Hell, they just accomplished a similar thing in skyfall

But as I said above.. Just look at the laziness shown in the opening.. When they walk through the door the cameraman clearly closes the door.. Then bond walks out of the room gun in hand after kissing that chick and we have no clue if she is a cilivian or not.. So if she is a regular joe, he just hops out the window with that gun and she isn't suppose to make a call to the police.. Or she is an agent or some sort of cover and he just went through the whole be cool thing

Ok?

Cameraman closed a door. How that must ruin a film.

Bond played it cool just walkin out the window? James, Bond, just played it cool? *gasps*

I hate Skyfall, cuz he adjusts his tie getting on to the train, barely.........

I mean.......come on man.

everything you named are FRANCHISE TRADEMARKS, which makes the movie unique from other films, like in the oceans 11 movies we KNOW linus will have to steal something or the amazing yen will perform some acrobatic stunt or the bros. will play multiple roles in the heist. no one here is complaining about that

It's like no one is complaining that bond ordered his signature drink, or that he slept with dimes(thats why they call them BOND GIRLS)

people are complaining about plot points, the movie from the get had a PREDICTABLE PLOT, like from the moment C was intoduced and the combination of "smart blood" we KNEW they'd(spectre, hinx, C, etc) would always be where bond was, I mean everytime dude went somewhere Hinx was there, it was so Obvious, and that coupled with seeing the trailer ruined the scene where Waltz knew Bond was in the meeting, which gave me goosebumps during the trailer.

to each his own, if you liked it than you liked it, but to say every bond flick is predictable was is kinda foolish,in skyfall you knew the finale was going to take place in skyfall?? javier bardem planned on getting caught?? black chick was gonna be moneypenny at the end? judi dench would die?? you knew moneypenny sits behind a desk because she shot bond and got sidelined and then decided to stay there???

the effort CLEARLY wasn't there in this film and it shows with craig complaining and Mendes confirming he won't be back, the opening was nowhere near close to any of craigs bond films, nor were any of the stunts except the train sequence.. Craig is still CONTRACTED for one more.....so I don't even understand that ending....We got go through another Versper??

Again, doing that stuff in skyfall made Bond, bond

But in this movie, I saw that they just came in the room and never close the door.. Then the cameraman pans back to a shot showing the door closed.. I just assumed it was a slight mistake for the bigger picture/shot (hell I assumed they were going for a long shot on the whole thing)

But just seemed very lazy, with all things considered

Just thinking back on the movie makes me very very annoyed.. Like DOFP, where we are expected to just shut our brains off.. Like the camera which bond clearly sees when he goes to the supposed abandoned cabin

See, look at that video.

Someone on the train shoulda been callin 911........

IT'S, A, JAMES, BOND, MOVIE. They have 23 other films, nobody ****** calls 911 in them joints either.

That's just lazy complainin imo. If you don't like the movie, cuz James Bond wears a tux, or he fights big *** dude, but doesn't have a single scratch on him, you're just complainin to complain. Yes, technically its not clean movie making, but we in a world with smart blood locating, and bomb watches, and ejection seat cars that shoot flames, for a franchise 6 decades strong. If you didn't expect things like this, thas on you.
