JAMES BOND movie thread: RIP Sir Sean Connery - NO TIME TO DIE 10/08/21

I had a chance to catch the screening but missed out. not a big Bond fan so I'll catch this when it hits DVD/Blue-Ray.

I won the free tickets on the thing posted here but I already have IMAX tickets to see it. If my niece and her boyfriend don't take them, anybody want the code?

Will def be watching.:nthat:

Until then to avoid any spoilers..

Man this movie was ******* dope. Much better than Skyfall and it's not even close man. Action scenes were on point, man..this might've been my favorite Craig led film of them all. Idk what the critics were watching..although my one gripe was the Bond girl was pretty meh compared to the earlier chick in the film he smashed..

Edit: Also to add I didn't like the 2nd half of the film. First half was pretty amazing and the 2nd was very subpar, I guess those emails were spot on. The villian as well was underwhelming..still I liked it more than Skyfall and it was very enjoyable to watch

2nd half of the film and the ending just didn't do it for me...

The storyline...really? LoL

B-/C+

**** rotten tomatoes. We live in a society where people can't make up their own mind whether or not they like something. They read the reviews, let that dictate their feelings, and go into the movies with preconceived notions of whether or not it's good. if they like something that goes against public opinion, more times than not they will convince themselves it's not good in order to follow suit. That's the problem with places like RT/Yelp. Bunch of ******* sheep.

I actually agree with this 100%, they let the opinions of others decide if they enjoy s movie or not. If you go into the move knowing it has a low rating, you likely won't enjoy it as much as if you had gone in clean

I'm disappointed after watching Spectre. I get what they were trying to do by connecting all the Daniel Craig movies together but it just didn't hit for me. Waltz's character could've been much much much better; wasted opportunity imo. i also didnt see any chemistry between the blond chick and Bond. It's still better than Quantum though.

I really think Idris will be the next Bond.

Idris Elba is probably one of my top 5 favorite actors...maybe even top 3.

but i just cant see a black james bond.

its like a white shaft.

They could just do a spinoff movie. Make him 006 or 009.

What number was sean bean? 008? Give him a movie too.

As long as it's better than Quantum, then I'm okay with it.

They need to re-capture how fun Casino Royale was. I can't watch Spectre this week so I gotta wait another week. I didn't know the Aston Martin in it was made for just the movie.

Was it made just for the movie? I was under the impression that they let Sony have the concept version of the car and the release version would be coming out in the future.

Skyfalls replay value is low to me

Kinda boring on subsequent viewings

I agree. Even the first time around I didnt think it was as great as everyone said it was. Liked it. Didnt love it

I saw an interview with Daniel Craig where he said that model of Aston Martin was made for the movie but I dunno how accurate his info is or if it's changed. He did say they were auctioning off some of the cars for charity.

Daniel Craig at this point should walk away and not do another Bond movie. If he comes back it will clearly be only for the $$$ which will be huge amounts thrown at him.

If the producers of the movie franchise really want to make the next Bond great they should somehow get Chris Nolan to direct it.

There was a far better movie to be made.. Even with the stuff that was shot, just felt meh

From what I've read the producers also basically forced Daniel Craig & Sam Mendes to try and add some schtick & humor in this one and get away from the edgy & dark tone set in the last Daniel Craig Bond movies :smh:

I will admit, the opening scene in Mexico City was great though. And i did like Q's involvement within the movie. Train fight scene was good too, except for how it ends.

the biggest things that didnt sit well with me:

- From the very first time he was introduced, it was obvious that C was a snake.

- they couldve easily wrote out Monica Belucci's part to give more screentime to Waltz's villain

- The big bad turns out to be Bond's stepbrother. Straight out of an Austin Powers movie :x

- Bond and the chick are already "in love" after just 2 days together :x

- its like they used tired, classic Bond cliches just to throw them in there (could be why it feels like its going through the motions because we all know all those tropes already):

  • car chase (meh, suspense wasnt there for me). check
  • henchman that doesn't talk. check.
  • villain hiding in a secret lair in the middle of no where. check.
  • Bond willingly walks into the villains lair where he is outnumbered. check.
  • Bond torture scene (he wanted to erase Bond's memories or something?? idk). check.

Does Spectre feel like a part 1 in a 2 part movie or is it just me? but now Craig isnt even sure he wants to return :smh:
