Haven't been on NT for a good minute, glad to see you're still doing well RFX. That GMT II is mean:smokin. That's what I'm looking to get this year, but waiting on a good deal or waiting on my buddy to get tired of it. Also want a stainless steel Yachtmaster II, but I know servicing won't be cheap because of the complication.

rfx45 rfx45 GMT looks :pimp: Cartier has some classic pieces. I feel they are sometimes overlooked as a watch company or maybe just overshadowed. The Santos is one of my fave non-circle watches.

Keep killing it fam.

The only reason they are overlooked is because of their quartz offerings.

I like the Santos as well. I cross-shopped it with my first nice watch (Breitling Super Avenger), but I wanted something way bigger. In hindsight, I can't ever believe I wore a 48mm watch with my 7" wrists. Heck, most days I find myself wishing my Sub was 38mm instead of 40mm.

Stoked on your GMT, RFX. I lusted after that thing from the day it was launched at Basel in 2013. That lust fade though so I'll be curious to hear your thoughts in a few months.

Nice, I got SS Tank Solo on my wish list. Can't go wrong with the iconic look and low maintenance cost of the Quartz. One of the few Quartz watches I wouldn't mind spending that much for.

Thanks all for the compliments!

And yeah, Cartier gets a bad rep because most see them as a jewelry company and their deep watchmaking history has been mostly ignored. First wristwatch for men, all the storied century of history and all their achievements in creating complications and in-house movement offerings along with plenty of classic designs are just a few reasons why Cartier should have more respect.

Tank is as classic as it gets and it's one of the non-round watches that actually works great for my wrist.

This really is a great watch and I don't think I'll change my heart anytime soon. As you know I am not a big fan of the cyclops and avoid date if possible but this one got me. I was waiting for the pepsi but wasn't really happy with the shade of blue and red on it, more like cranberry & purpleberry and that really just pushed me to go for the Batman. Got my fingers crossed that they release a coke version next year in steel and that the red is darker than it is in the pepsi.

I think you should check it out in the steel again and rekindle that long lost love.

I really like the beveled/ contoured look of the hublot classic fusion 42mm. I also think the screws on the bezel are a really nice touch and I like the no-nonsense dial.

I am in absolutely no position to drop that kind of money on a watch though lol - do any of you know of an affordable option with similar characteristics. (Less than $500?)

Friends don't let friends wear Hublot

ehh... ive heard the brand in general is not a favorite of traditional watch collectors, especially with its obvious AP influence, but these opinions really have no significance to me. I think the classic fusion is a great looking watch.

I think Meister makes the Hublot rip-offs.

Not really interested in a rip off or a homage. Just something that shares the sort of no-nonsense, machined look that is still versatile.

That's a bit tough without other point of reference. If you could post pics of other style watches you like then we can narrow it down further. Right now I am just thinking you are looking for a porthole inspired watch. I don't really consider Hublot having that "machined" look either so more pics from other brands would help a lot.

Your right, "machined" isn't quite the word I should have used - it just comes to mind when I think of the flat bezel/ brushed steel. I guess you could say that I am looking for a porthole inspired watch that does not look like a tank lol. Maybe it is just the classic fusion that I want haha. Oh well. Thanks for you input though.
