was trying arrange with my buddy when I would be able to go pick up for the last week.. but between work and the weather, yesterday was the first chance I got to go

my favorite is the white gold with the blue face/dial, but that's 20 something.. I'd go with a royal oak or nautilus if I was spending over 10.. this one:

My pops had a smurf for like 3 weeks and he ended up dumping it and picking up a Daytona. I liked it a lot, but he's into flashy **** and most average joes would assume it's some cheap sub :\

What are you guys buying in the $400-$500 range? Do you even care about the movement? Those of you paying $200 or whatever for a DW - how much more, if anything, would you pay if it were an automatic?

Tissot makes some nice stuff in that price range. Also Swiss Army and Victorinox are good options for sub $300.

From what I've researched, Steinhart might be my next watch I buy...

I really want a Type B pilot's watch and theirs might be the one for me. I've already got my Seiko 009 diver's watch, so a pilot is the next one I've wanted. There's a couple other brands I'm interested in, but right now it's that one.

White Gold/Blue Sub is a long term goal with the Platinum Daytona an even loooooooooooooonger term one

just copped the black/blue GMT rolex. Copped brand new from an authorized dealer, Bachendorfs at the galleria mall in Dallas. I just received it in the mail, and I noticed some scuffs on the clasp. When I went to try the watch on at the mall the dealer told me that they just got this watch in today and he pulled it out of a plastic bag and it had the stickers on it. There is still stickers on parts of the clasp, but these scratches kinda irritate me. There is no return or refund policy, and I was wondering if I should should even sweat it ...

That's unacceptable IMO. I'd get an exchange pronto.

I would definitely ask for an exchange or a refund or the least have them get another GMT and switch up the bracelet for a pristine one. I know you said told us about the policy but I'd definitely ask them to make it right.

If there are still stickers in the watch then why is the one on the scratched part of the clasp removed? It wouldn't have that scratch if all the stickers are intact, Rolex factory simply would not ship it out like that.

Second of all, Rolex doesn't come in plastic bags when shipped, it comes in a plastic coffin (like int he pic below) to avoid any scratches or rubbing during shipment.

(not my pic)

If it irritates you now, it'll just irritate you later but that is up to the kind of person you are. Me personally, it would bug me, I'm not OCD but I'd hate to know I paid for it scratched like that. I'd want it pristine and then I'll put the scratches on it myself.

Best of luck and let us know how it works out.

Those watches cost too much money to be getting scratched watches.

Even getting a display model is kinda iffy. The watch been tried on who knows how many times and could have been sitting in a case for 5 years.

Depends on what you paid if it was over 7k I'd be returning it

Hey guy thanks for the replies, you are right, it did bug me enough to post the pics, so it would only bug me more in the future. I paid full retail 8950. They would not budge on any discounts. I called this morning, and emailed some pics to them and they said they would get back to me later today. Also, does additional stuff come with the watch..like a cloth or pouch? lol just wondering...I noticed there was not a cloth..

I feel dumb because I didn't notice this in the store..I was just so wrapped up in buying it :smh:...I actually bought it in while on vacation in Tx to see fam...I live in AZ and it was shipped to AZ ..avoided taxes. So I can't really go back in store and have them do anything in person..hopefully there is something that can be done though and If not, I will just move on with life and just get it polished...

The newer models doesn't come with a cleaning cloth anymore. It's pretty much just the box, the plastic tags, manual, warranty booklet and authenticity card (all in that little booklet holder).

If you bought from a store and paid full price, the watch should 100% be in perfect condition. Now, if it was a display model and they gave you a discount I would tell you to suck it up.

With that said, those polished centre links are going to be scratched to sh*t after a few wears.

That is exactly where all of my watches are scratched the most and it's because they've been worn and the clasp scrapes against a surface when my hands are on it. Typing etc.

Suspect as ****.

Update:
The salesperson just got back to me, and told me I should go to an authorized Rolex dealer in my city and have it polished..and they will take care of the bill for me. He assured me that the watch was never purchased before and it was brand new and that the scratches must have occurred while someone was trying them on...idk..I really find that kind of suspect but at this point there is nothing i can do...I am not going to hop on a plane to Dallas and return the watch or ship it back to have it polished by them and deal with the hassle. They are firm on their refund policy and I already had the bracelet sized and removed 2 links.

I am new to this whole timepiece thing and I guess I should have been more careful but as long as the scratches are removed one way or another I will be happy....

do you guys think that a polishing will get the scratches out and how often do you all polish ur stainless rolexes??

I wouldn't eem polish it. You'll just lose more metal on the bracelet for something so minor that will get scratched again in no time. If I were you I'd demand some sort of partial refund.

I'd probably do what FrankMucus said above, I'd leave it alone and just ask for partial refund. It will just get scratched there anyways once you wear it and it is always preferable to the watches value to avoid having it polished though through Rolex it isn't as big of a deal since it's really a vintage anyways.

At least get the amount it would have cost to get it polished as a refund, go to the AD and get a quote for the polish and ask for that much I guess? If that store is smart they'd ask for a copy of the receipt if a written quote isn't enough.

Thank you RFX and Frank and all the others. I appreciate that advice, Ill just leave it alone , I will go ahead and get a polish quote and then ask the AD from where I purchased for that amount back in a refund.

If that's the route you're going with, I'd treat it as a car insurance claim. Submit your quote to the AD in Dallas and act as if that was a receipt of the polishing being done. They might not cut you a check unless you actually do the polish.
