You got to specify what style you're looking for but if divers is what you want, look into Oris. Really digging the Aquis Date, it's only 43mm but it looks bigger.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm currently wearing a stainless Tissot Seastar chrono automatic so would prefer a leather or rubber band.

I'm in need of a good everyday work watch and came across this on sale for what I think is a good price.
It was $1,475. Maybe you guys can help with determining if it was indeed a good buy or not?

If not, what are some other options of something similar around the same price? Hamilton Jazzmaster, maybe?

My list of expensive luxury watches that I want to buy eventually is extensive but my lower end watch knowledge isn't as extensive, unfortunately.

I can't say it's a great deal, my business partner bought the same watch in Australia for around $950
 
jomashop usually has pretty good pricing so I would imagine that was a decent price for that Tag.

Try not to let it drive you crazy if you're happy with the purchase.
 
Weekend warrior, different, but I love this watch. 

I have a PO on my winder, but really want a sub one day. 
 
Nice B&R, their watches always interested me. Their regular round cases are nice and simple and I love the aviation influence but their square watches are the ones I always wanted to own, sadly it's just way too big for my puny wrist.

I always dug the skull watch, far from classic but it's just one of those novelty watches I liked.

Thanks @RFX45 yeah im also a sucker for rose gold, I'm thinking about picking up the Omega Seamaster 300 rose gold and ss, omega calls it senea gold or something like that, but it's pretty much rose gold, I think theirs has a more pinkish/Cooper hue to it that I like

Yeah i like the bell ross cockpit inspired pieces also, takes me back to my days working on the F-15E

It's a Chinese-made watch with a $50 Citizen movement. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those things (though the Miyota 9015 has a reputation for being somewhat noisy), but neither of them warrant a price that starts with a 6 (or 5, or 4 for that matter). With that said, if you like it go for it.
 

Yup. Basically an overpriced Chinese Catalog Watch marketed as a "micro-brand watch" assembled using off the shelf parts available at a particular factory while some "kickstarter micro-brands" gather various parts from different factories ala carte.

For the price of some of these "kickstarter micro-brands" $500-600, you can get a nice JDM Seiko, JDM Orient Star, Citizen with their own high-beat movt, something Swiss from Hamilton, Tissot, Certina, even Oris used which have a better resale value than most of these "kickstarter micro-brand"

Other things to consider about these watches: re-sale value, availablity of parts in the future, service issues, future of the brand, R&D, prestige/history, inflated prices (ala pre-order price vs MSRP), long wait times, etc.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily go that far. Companies like Visitor are doing Kickstarter "right" in that they are offering something new and fresh (at least in terms of design). If you want to talk about catalog designs marketed as original designs, look no further than:

(they were kicked off Kickstarter because someone reported them)



You can't expect a micro-brand to start out by offering their own in-house movement, doing their own R&D, etc., when you can simply contract an OEM in China/Hong Kong to take care of this for you.
Also, please do keep in mind that the "Swiss Made" label in 2015 is complete BS since companies like Tag Heuer buy all their parts in Asia and ship them to Switzerland for final assembly, allowing them to label their watches are Swiss Made (http://www.ablogtowatch.com/swiss-made-mean-whole-lot-more-watches-2017/).

In terms of resale value, unless you are purchasing a Rolex or something along those lines, expect your watch to have next to none. Availability of parts will not be a problem because these OEMs have no shortage of parts. Future of the brand/history is a big question mark for these micros, yes, but older watch manufacturers are not immune to this either. Maurice Lacroix was just put up for sale today if I'm not mistaken ().

At the end of the day, buy what you like and do not write off these micro-brands because everyone has to start somewhere, but please do educate yourself with regards to your potential purchase.
