The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

They sell Rolexes in the Costco near me. Costco actually just won a lawsuit from Omega, they have the right to sell those watches but consider them grey market.

And speaking of Rolex, everyone's dream has come true, ceramic bezeled Daytona.

Also new is a 40mm Air-King (34mm was discontinued) and probably their most aviator-esque looking watch?

And an Explorer with fully lumed markers (including the 3, 6, 9).

Rolex killed it. I really dislike the Yachmaster, but the new steel dial with the blue hand is stunning:

The 41mm Datejust w/ jubilee bracelet is probably the most intriguing release (in my opinion). A great, contemporary update to a classic watch.

The dial on the AK looks weird with 5, 10, ...Wish is just had the lined marker.

If they put the typical markers, it'll just be a 1mm bigger version of the Explorer.

While I have no interest in getting it, it's still a nice change.

That's true. I read somewhere that the numbered markers are inline with aviation inspired watches.

That cerachrom Daytona and Yachtmaster are

Frank i know times are fought at foot locker, but you still looking into the patek?

Hell yeah, if you want to buy some elite socks or sneaker cleaners it'll barely help me out.

The Patek 5980 is nice, but then AP released the new Perpetual Calendar last September and it's looking better than PP. Plus at almost the same price range of 90k it'll be heavier and have more useful functions so I can tell when have to work or when it's dark outside and I have to take the safe route to my car and avoid all my co-workers.

I would go with BLNR or 116610LV for a Rolex under 10k.

I have the green sub and it's a great watch. If the green is too much for your liking get the BLNR. I was toying with selling my sub and targeting the white gold blue sub, but that new ceramic white face Daytona is the business. Called my AD to get on the list.

Damn my name is first at my local AD for the ceramic Daytona but they got robbed last week. I hope it doesn't affect things.

My watch, might have to pic up the SS ceramic Daytona but didn't like how the previous version felt really small on my wrist

Ben Bridge in Topanga?

Yes that's my spot. Jackie is an awesome person to talk watches with and I believe she's pretty high up in the Rolex chain. Actually on my way to see her now and find out what the deal is. I'm sure it's still another month or two before they even get the Daytona in. It took them 2 months to get the BLNR after it was announced.

Hah, Queen Jacque(line)? She still owes me a free winder.

She's nice to talk to but she can be a typical sale person at times, she got me with the "Rolex prices are going up in a few month" routine.

Let us know when she expects the Daytona-C, though it might take longer, someone reported in another forum that the London boutique is getting the prototype for viewing for one day in May so chances are it'll probably arrive in stores closer to fall to late this year.

October!!! And it will hit EU markets before US. But she said today 5 people put their name down on the Daytona-C. As for her tactics lol I wouldn't ever buy from them unless it's a high demand watch and I'm prepared to pay MSRP or close to it. I purchased my Hulk from her for near msrp. Other than that all my watches are purchased elsewhere with steep discounts. Hing Wa Lee and Bhindi are my go to. But so many people go to them that the chances of picking up something high demand are slim to none rfx45 rfx45

Interesting just watched the video on the dj41. Not a fan of how they kept the oyster clasp on the jubilee bracelet. But other than that it's sweet.

I'm like 10th on the list at mine :smh:

What's the ticket for the Daytona-C? 11,800 CFH (Swiss retail) is like $12,000 USD. Are you going black dial or white? I think white is the move, personally.

Damn you Rolex for temporarily hindering my Patek plans. Definitely getting rid of the Hulk to offset some of the cost though.

I usually have several sources to get some usually harder to find pieces (Rolex-wise), Saint Cross in LA and Polachecks (where Jacquelyn used to work too), was actually offered a Nautilus here which I am glad I passed because then Patek lowered their prices.

There's also David at RF but to be honest I like the face to face interactions.

It's tough to tell can anyone find a price list for CHF and Euro retail on Rolex? Then we can kind of get an idea. I wouldn't sell that hulk though, that's one of my fav rolexes.

What deal was Polachecks giving you on the Nautilus? Brent gave me 15off on a nautilus a few months ago and I didn't bite, it was a 5726a. Honestly as amazing as the nautilus is I can't wrap my head around buying one, but I want one really bad. I'm going to have to wait for a steal to pop up on RF. Reason why I don't want to buy one is for some reason the sport Pateks depreciate heavily, while the others can appreciate by double easily. That coupled with the fact it's so hard to get a good deal from an AD.

I loved the Hulk until I bought my 15400. I haven't worn my Hulk since. Maybe it's a phase, but I doubt it.

Why can't you wrap your head around buying a Nautilus?

Also, IMO, the Nautilus needs to come on a metal bracelet in lieu of a leather strap.

It was for the 5711/1A, which is (was?) the most popular Nautilus that actually doesn't depreciate so discount is almost non-existent, was just there at the right time. It was very tempting but just couldn't pull the trigger, size-wise it was a tad bigger for my wrist too. I wasn't even looking for it and just happen to ask if they have one on the safe and low and behold they actually had one.

It is funny though, I know these guys have wait lists for these things but if the first guys (or first couple) in the list doesn't rush there quick they'd try to sell it as soon as they could. Understandable but a bit shady.

When I am ready to pull the trigger, I'd probably go with DaviSW, he had one for sale at a slight discount about a year ago. Not really sure if the interest in the 5711 has waned though, haven't been keeping up much.

That's a sick watch. Regarding your comment about the wait list I am fairly certain stores have favored clients that they'll gladly sell to before giving us plebs the opportunity to put money in their pockets. I'm first on the list but I am not getting my hopes up on actually getting the watch first. At best I'm just trying to be part of the first wave. I will readily pay 1k over msrp, worst case scenario, from someone online. This is just something I have wanted for so long, the Paul Newman is my Rolex grail and the Daytona-c reminds me of it so much and the price is irresistible for a high end chrono. Only wish it had date function lol.

15400 is a great watch, I don't own an AP and had this Daytona-C not been announced this year I'd have definitely gone for a ROC panda dial instead. (In fact I still think the roc is just as beautiful). I'm just basing my opinion on the nautilus on wether or not it's a sound investment. I really would love to own one but for that kind of dough I just don't know if I would get a nautilus. Statistically speaking, although the nautilus line of watches hold their value, other pateks tend to appreciate a lot, due to much more limited production. My ideal Patek would be the 5960, and any variation of the nautilus would come second. Just gotta find the money somewhere haha.

I agree I wish the Daytona would have a date function but I doubt it would ever happen.

I like the new white dial and bezel better than the old one, which is why I sold it last year. I like the triangle markers much better than the dots.

Going to call my AD later today to try to get a realistic time frame on the watch. Will probably work on trading up on the sub in the meantime which certainly won't hurt the time frame on the Daytona.
