The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

What do you guys think about Cartier Tank? XL or L? Bout to get my dad one but wanna make sure it's the right watch. 2800 is my max.

I can't attest to Cartier watches. Is it his style? If so I'm sure he'd appreciate it. For that price you can find a nice speedmaster too.

I like Tanks and despite Cartier being one of the original watchmakers out there and their line is considered classic, I do feel they're a bit underrated or rarely talked about.

Thanks really depends on personal taste and how they look on your wrist and I do like it better on a leather strap than a bracelet.

Check them out in person and see if it speaks to you.

Love my Rose Gold Tank Solo!

I think I read that Cartier watches aren't taken seriously by "watch ppl" (whoever they are) cause they didn't have in house movements for a long time.  I have a couple of Cartier Pashas, I never cared about the movement I just always liked the design.  I snapped some quick pictures of the one I don't wear that much:

The other one has a dive bezel and the grid thing over the crystal.  It's really dirty and I don't have it here though plus the guy wasn't really asking about this watch.  Supposebly Gerald Genta designed a version of this watch but I'm not sure if it was the original one from the 80's or one that came out in 1997.

I grabbed the seiko skx007k, put an oyster band on it. Well worth the small amount of money.

I've been wearing mine since the summer and it's a decent daily watch. I have it on the jubilee but the oyster looks solid, I may look into that. Does it have a lot of play? I love how the jubilee looks but it comes so stretched from factory it cheapens the feel of the watch a lot.

The oyster is solid, no play at all. I ordered the k version because I knew I'd never use the jubilee.

Thanks that's what I'm looking at. Wondering if it's worth it over the BLNR I've been eyeing for a while. I know eventually I'll end up with both lol

Only one worth mentioning is an iwc mark xvi

I think the Rolex is a better suit. It wasn't until I had accumulated a solid Rolex collection that I made the jump to other brands. If you want both go for the Rolex first. My BLNR is my daily watch and takes the most beating but At the end of the day people still ask me about it just cause it's a Rolex.

BLNR vs 15400 is a tough one. It's honestly a coin toss and you can't go wrong with either. I'm not a huge fan of the BLNR and own a 15400 so you know what I would pick. FWIW, I've only worn my 15400 once since I bought my two-tone GMT. But I also wore the 15400 for 365 days straight previous to that.

I'm actually giving somewhat serious consideration to a 15400OR which I can get for what I think is a steal. Problem is I want a chrono but that's going to run me an extra $10k or so for a complication I'll never use. I also want it on a bracelet (I think) but I'm not even in the stratosphere of being able to comfortably wear a $50k watch. First world problems :smh:
