The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

It's posted on the first post, JYabbz has done a great job consolidating plenty of information in that very first post.

I don't think he mentioned the price, probably because it varies by brand, but he mentioned all the maintenance needed for each movements.

Price-wise, Rolex tends to be in $400-$500 range which is high but after a service, they give you a new 2 year warranty so it's a good service. IWC does the same iirc, I am not sure about the others. Plus it's usually 4-5 years or when you see something unusual with the watches performance, which ever comes first. Chances are if something is wrong within the warranty, it's covered anyways and it'll get fixed for free.

Yeah, I really did not want to go to in-depth with service/maintenance costs as there is too many factors that determines service/maintenance per watch. For example, stock ETA movements should be cheaper to service than in-house movements due to the availability of parts. Likewise some in-house service/maintenance costs can be cheaper to service than some stock ETA movements from one brand. Currently, the Nomos alpha hand-wind movement seen in the manual Tangente only costs $260 to service from Nomos themselves. The next factor to consider in service/maintenance cost is the watch's service history, usually a well-maintained watch with great service/maintenance history will be cheaper to service than a similar watch that has been neglected. Another thing to consider in service/maintenance cost is the type and amount of complication in the watch. Usually chronos are more expensive to service than their non-chrono equivalent. Likewise, the more complicated the complication is, the more expensive the service/maintenance will cost. For example, a tourbillon is usually more expensive to service than a chrono. The final factor to consider in service/maintenance cost is the manufacturer itself, a Rolex/Tag/Omega is usually more expensive to service than a cheap Seiko.

Congrats, RFX.

I've been ready to pull the trigger on a new watch for awhile now. I've had my reliable Citizen and the cheap but awesome Timex Weekender, but I've got the extra cash to treat myself.

I'm torn between the Hamilton Khaki Field

or this Tsovet

I know the Hamilton is the "better" watch and I like the style a lot, but I've just loved the look of that Tsovet since I first saw it.

I'll probably go with the Hamilton in the end, but I'm still back and forth a bit.

That's really nice.

And I probably will end up with the Hamilton, I do like the Tsovet's look... but at the price I think I'd rather spend the money on a quality watch and one that looks good.

The khaki field has 2 sizes 38mm and 42mm. Do yourself a favor and try to see them at a local AD to see the one you like more, then order online. Also checkout the khaki king so you have 3 different sizes to choose from.

I'm addicted to hammies, I have five myself. So many different designs coming from that brand. Also nice it has some American roots with Swiss backing.

Please post pics when you get your watch papi.

For sure, it's been something I've wanted to treat myself to for awhile. I need to do a couple of car repairs, but after that it's the next thing I'm doing. Might be next week or might be next month or so  but it's coming.

Nice lume RFX45. And i say go for the Daytona if offered. A definite must have in the Rolex collection. Nice recent pickups also. I'm still deciding on what to pick up next. I want either a sub or the tudor pelagos or even the sd4000.

Nice lume pics. Anyway we can get a pic of your updated collection? I need to see the IWC Portuguese again.

Elitetime (elitetime.com), if you want a watch. Family has done business with him in the past. He can get you ANYTHING you want.

Jackthreads is currently having a watch sale. Not sure if we can post invite links but mines is below in the spoiler.

Looking clean RFX, and i appreciate the advice the other day, which led me to do some research and go watch hunting, then ultimately making a decision :D

Did you change your screen name? You're using Kush_Dry_Goods Flickr pics but I could have sworn there is a user of that same name?

Anyways, did you pick-up the 16613? They're are nice and much better in person too, many are underwhelmed when they see them in pics.

I'm a sucker for black and gold combo myself but I love rose gold and black even more, wish Rolex released a SubC no date (prefer no cyclops otherwise the 2tone GMT II Master -116713LN- would be great) in their everose gold with black dial. They have that combo in a Daytona but it's $37,500.

RFX - Yea man, I originally had plans of buying some other jewelry then began looking at watches because I knew I wouldn't get much wear out of the chain etc, and once I realized my options with 3-3500 I decided to just buy something I really wanted than to settle.

The watches are definitely underwhelming in pics, its a whole different story once on your wrist.. :x

Thats me also bro.. Pimp is my original SN, Kush I use to promote RL/RRL etc, same Flickr account

That daytona is SUPER clean

Al Audi/TsamShox - Thanks for the kind words fellas :smokin

Gotcha, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

And yeah I am with you, my original plan was to get a Cartier Love and Juste Un Clou bracelets but both those would have cost more than the two watches I got, no regrets.

As I was looking at brands, and realizing how well the Rolex watches keep value it became a no brainer, the only other watch I would have preferred to have was the 2 tone date just II, but it was going for about 9.9/5.. It is a thing of beauty!!

The love bracelet was $1,500-2000 in 05 when I heard about it and wanted to buy, but now they are :x. Regret it till this day.
