I never said the effects of racism and stereotyping are irrelevant. That's simply stupid. I meant, that when judging whether or not something is racist, the effect is irrelevant. It either is or isn't, regardless of the effect. If I said all asians are smart and all blacks are athletic is that not still stereotyping? Those are largely seen as positive stereotypes and have undoubtedly benefited many people but they're still racist statements.
