im a history education major. ask me anything.

  At those that disagree. History is simple memorization. Just like undergrad psychology. That's why 95% of people with those degree's don't end up doing anything with those degrees. Hence, my first question.

Now if this dude actually thinks he can get outside the curriculum, and teach stuff that's not being taught, props.

You got it.

Do you OP. If it ain't STEM, NT doesn't respect it.

Doesn't deal with your studies, nevermind.

Was leaning towards that. Last time I studied ancient Egypt was like four years ago. Need to start reading up on them again.

Yea man, I feel the same. I'm also always tryna learn more.

Btw Sumer was a region in southern Mesopotamia and the Assyrian empire was in the north of Mesopotamia so it encompasses all 3 empires but they had their zenith at different times in history.

I had one influential high school teacher, and he didn't teach by the books. I will always remember and appreciate that dude for opening my mind. Hope you're as inspiring with your teaching.

That whole area is now a cluster-**** in my head now lol. But, fortunately I do have a general history book that covers the most influential battles of most empires so I'm going to get into that now. The only people I remember from that area is Cyrus the Great and Nebuchadnezzar.

What the hell is "nugget nectar"? Is that a euphemism?

Nope.  You'd have to be a part of the NT Beer thread to know what's up.  This is Nugget Nectar:

but I digress...

Cyrus the Great was Persian, but yea a somewhat similar area. You should read up on the greatest, and my personal favorite, King Darius the Great.

Now Nebuchadnezzar II was a true Mesopotamian King, dude built the hanging Gardens at Babylon. :pimp:

The entire middle/near east to western asia area is mad confusing but so interesting and theres soo much to learn.

Can you tell me how the Israel/Palestine Conflict relates back to the Crusades ? I always hear people say this but I was wondering if there was any merit to this

Bruh you hatin', plain and simple. And it's out of a lack of awareness of all the things that make a society great. One being scholarship and knowledge of history.

Scholarship isn't just knowing stuff. It's analyzing, understanding, figuring out what is the truth versus what the people in charge decided to say happened, and even more than that.

Historical scholarship influences politics, religion, science, legislation, the military, the media, art, the list goes on and on.
Choych

teach your kids history and inspire them to a level that you cant

Dray here

I had one high school teacher, he always told us to think outside of the box and not conform to what society tells us we should think.
Everyone liked the guy, he kinda looked like brad Pitt. We didn't even really use the text book and he taught us real biology and not that living environment crap they teach the underperforming schools like mine.

Then he got caught having sex with multiple of the baddest birds from my school, one time in his car in the parking lot.

So yeah don't bang the high school girls, even though they be looking fireeeee.

Teaching is HARD, respect to you man. I'm currently volunteering teaching SAT classes to some high school kids and man is it tough to get through sometimes. You realize that most of these kids lack the basic foundations to continue onto some higher end mathematical/english concepts and its frustrating.

Props to you again OP :smokin

Props on becoming a teacher, hope you're aren't boring like some of my teachers are. Don't let the kids push you over but don't be militant at the same time too if you know what I'm trying to say, best wishes.
