2021 ANGELS SEASON THREAD

Blanton Gone :pimp:

About 16 months after he signed Joe Blanton to a two-year $15 million deal, Jerry Dipoto cut his – and the Angels’ – losses.
The Angels general manager released the embattled right-hander Wednesday morning, a quick and somewhat predictable end to his tenure with the club.
“It’s regrettable,” Dipoto said. “It’s a mistake on my part. There is no one else to blame. I made the call on signing Joe Blanton and bringing him in. Obviously, this isn’t the way he wanted it to work out. It’s not the way I wanted it to work out.”
Blanton went 2-14 with a 6.04 ERA in 2013, the worst season of his nine-year career. Despite better conditioning and numerous changes to his delivery, Blanton had a 7.08 ERA this spring.

It's time :pimp:

Let's start it off on the right foot.

Gary DiSarcina :pimp:

Vladdy :pimp: :pimp:

Man, Vladdy is my fav player ever! Had a chance to get this authentic Vladdy jersey two years ago but passed on it. Went back a few months later and the damn store was closed! Still want one and Im still looking :smh:

Funny thing, Trout's first AB my lil nephew said he was gonna hit a double and I said nah i feel a HR coming on...Boom..lol. He liked at me like I was magician or something lol

Anyways, looks like our bullpen picked up where it left off....

 we are flat-out awful. Things can only get better though, right?

Just checked to see if the Mariners had homered again this morning or something, while I was eating breakfast.

Scoscia's bound to get the axe if this season goes like the last 2-3.

And I'm not saying that's what I want; I love Scoscia. But we all know how it is in sports when a team sucks, ESPECIALLY when it's a team as loaded as we are. Trout, Pujols, Hamilton, CJ, Weaver, Freese... and we have an opening series where we're giving up 8 or 10 and only scoring 2 or 3? Yeah, he's gone if this is gonna be how it is.

I agree. I've already seen Angels fans calling for his head ln twitter. And when he leads another team (Dodgers?) to a WS victory I hope he wears a "**** Arte Moreno and the city of Anaheim" shirt underneath.

Our rotation stinks.
Bullpen sucks.
Situational hitting sucks.

Sosh can't hit and pitch for these dudes

I hope we turn it around for his sake.

Completely agree.

He'll be successful elsewhere if he's canned.

Please, dear God, not the Dodgers or Yankees.

GET US A BULLPEN, ARTE!!!

It pains me thinking about all the big name OFFENSIVE players we've had since '02... Vladdy, Abreu, Hamilton, Matsui, Pujols, rented Teixeira... but like NO FOCUS on the mound, especially the bullpen.

Agree with what both of you guys says. All comes down to pitching yet again. Sucked seeing Trumbo go but they made a smart move going for pitching but the bullpen still sucks. I really thought we were gonna start hot too seeing how the offense was the last 3 games of the pre season. If they don't turn it around Sosh is gone before the All Star break.

Back-to-back solid pitching/hitting performances. It's against Houston so I'm not too excited about it but at least we won a series faster than last year

Thankfully Texas and Oakland are starting off slow so we're tied for 2nd.

Hamilton is RAKING out there. I'm not expecting him to have an MVP type season but .275/27/90 would be great to for the team. If we can get a steady bullpen we will be able to survive bad outings. We'll be putting up a lot of runs this season so our starters don't have to be great; just don't be terrible.

I love baseball, man. Games damn near every single day :pimp:

what up brahs

not expecting an MVP season from josh either, but i'm glad he's getting comfortable at the plate
Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton was selected as the American League's co-player of the week Monday with Chris Colabello of the Minnesota Twins.

Hamilton batted .500 (11 for 22) with two home runs and five RBI for the week.
The weekly honor was the third for Hamilton in his career.
and should i be concerned with jered weaver? i heard his velocity is down, but i haven't seen him pitch this season

I think Weav will be fine. If I had to pick a pitcher to have a rough outing against HOU, I would have picked him. I think it was a must for Richards and Skaggs to come out strong in their first starts.

My brother and i have this disccusion almost weekly. I've always been pro Weaver and lately he's been down on him. Regarding his velocity, he's been saying that for two seasons but his location has always been good. We need him to bounce back.

Honestly, I'm more concerned with Pujols.I feel like thats the guy we need to play like the player he use to be. Although I will say that i'll feel better if by this time next week he has 3HR's and some RBI's lol

^ You an Angels' fan, or just... really like red?

Glad to see Pujols heating up! I was calling for it earlier this week lol.
Sucks about Hamilton getting hurt. These players need to stop sliding at first. We'll get a little more speed as a team with JB Shuck getting called back up. Hopefully he can get on base and help out the dynamic of this team.
