Getting your own Apartment for the first time?

you don't make enough to afford $850 rent. Rent+utilities should be no more than 1/3 of your monthly income. get a roommate. otherwise with you will be living check to check.

monthly rent and utilities wouldnt be my problem getting my own spot. its the money you spend on kitchen and living room stuff. how much average do you guys spend when you first moved out? im one to not take hand me downs or used stuff

I think you would be better off finding a roommate, getting a 2 BR place and splitting the rent.

I made about what you are making when i was right out of college.  My then-girlfriend and i moved in together, so we split the rent.  I would have been able to swing it by myself, but i wouldn't have been nearly as comfortable as i was splitting the rent.

First apartment, spent about 4-5 grand for couches, tv stands, bedroom set, dining room set, and all the other little things you need.

Get a studio man, best decision I ever made.

ONLY IF it has a loft for the bedroom…. i can't stand studios for the simple fact that my kitchen is in the same room as my bedroom. so to me that means if i cook fish one day my pillow and bed sheets ail smell like long john silver???? :smh: :smh: :smh: NEGATIVE!!!!!!

WOW boss…. i spent only a quarter of that and got a pimp pad… you must be on some lavish isn type swag..

Furniture OP, unless your spot is already furnished. Also someone mentioned a roommate. That's not a bad idea.

yeah my bad I probably should have mentioned my couch was 2500 since it's a u - shaped sectional with ottoman.

OP. Find a roommate because your stuck once you sign that lease. Your gonna need emergency funds and if your spending all your earnings on living your gonna run into many problems.

Go on Craiglist and search for shared rentals. You will find many of options that might be more afordable than getting your own place.

Bruh how in the Hell you spend $200 on gas and food each in a month? You must be a fat lazy mofo.

If you on a budget you need to cut down on intake. Are you pregnant op?

Me and my girl aboutta move into our first apartment soon.

Expenses are as follows

Monthly income of both of us combined- 2600 estimated
Rent- 1030
Food- 200 - 250 depending on the month
Car insurance- 100
Phone bill- 100
Utilities- 100 I think it was?
Gas- 180

This is just a quick rough draft, I can come put together a srs one later, but we haven't put the application in yet, bought our furniture, or saved up some rainy day money. It's gonna take some time, but I'll check back in when we get there.

are you ignorant? i buy premium gas for my whip because thats all it takes and gas is 3.30 a gallon in nj... and my crib now is far from my job which is part of the reason why i want to move... i drive 60 miles a day to work so i fill up every week... and i dont even know how to cook so im just guessing 200 will be enough for groceries

Here in LA regular is pushin 4$.. smh

I'm 24. I needa move out now. I'm tryna find an apt for like $300-$500 a month. By myself no roomies. I can pay bills and still take care of my wants.

I live in SoCal

Rent- $1052

Gas- $85

Electricity- $130 to $190 depending on season

Water, Trash, are included in rent

Good luck op.

I don't mean to discourage you, but you should stay with your parents as long as you can.

I know dudes pushing 40 with good jobs still living home with mama.... Hell I know 2 brothers over 45 who still live with their dad in their parents house. 1 just had a home built so he's gone now the other is still there with dad and he's 50....

Living with parents will definitely keep your pockets fat. If you got about 7-10k saved go for it. You can't lose OP.

Unless you plan on having nightly coke and stripper orgies. Then that money might last a month or 2.

Me and my girl jus got a apt. Combined monthly we make about 4000 combined after taxes and our vehicles are paid for. Our rent is 575 and everything is included except lights. We got phone bills that's is 80 a piece, gas about 200 a piece, basic cable and wifi pack about 120 and a 2 year old who won't stop growing. U always gotta account for vehicle maintenance and other things that can happen spur of the moment

As long as u got a few bands put up before u move and manage your money right u will be good op
