Noah and His Age.

My bad for the late response, I try not to look down on other beliefs but when I do my research and find contradictions then I question.

can't be serious

can't be serious

I dont look for them but if I happen to come across a discrepancy I question it. Why wouldn't I?
If one book says something different than the other, why not question it? When I was soul searching I had. A clean slate for every religion. I tried to take out my bias. It's not 100 percent but I honestly tried in the religions I researched.

Haha yes, have you seem Saturn for your very own eyes? I'm not talking books or tv.

What the @#$% is this crap? This really upsets me

I can't even call this a regular outdated question, cause people have been able to see planets/stars pretty much from the beginning of human civilization  :smh:

Still waiting for 360waves to name something that I believe in that relies on faith...
My bad for the late response so many people, I am on my iphone.
Alright this may not be the best example but waking up tomorrow. Having faith or hope your eyes open tomorrow and you start your day normally. No doctor, no other human being can tell you if you are going to wake up tomorrow perfectly fine, able bodied what have you. that in a way can be some type of faith or hope or self surety that you wake up tomorrow.
No stats/ average life expectancy data/ chart/ psychic/ person on this planet can guarantee waking up tomorrow let alone breathing in 20 mins. ( god willing everyone does). I'm not sure if that is the best example however that is a form of faith/ hope/ reliance on something out of your control/ something bigger than yourself whether it be god in my opinion or science to others. Faith in something that is never guaranteed.
That's not faith; that's denial.  We're all in denial over the fact that we could potentially die at any moment, and it's actually a healthy form of denial.  If we walked around all the time with the thought of "I could die at any moment" in our heads the entire species would be mired in depression.

Better luck next time.

I guess it's perspective because I am not in denial. I can't avoid the inevitable. And yes death comes across my mind more often than not. It makes me strive to do good, do good on to others.
Don't need luck buddy I have faith. Be easy

I was genuinely troubled by dude asking that question, it speaks VOLUMES about how some religious people think. :smh:

Dudes out here still living in the dark ages.

Pointing out an obvious fact that many people who don't believe in god believe in something bigger than themselves. Quite contradictory to their beliefs but that simple point was overlooked

1.Cus God wants something. He wants to be chosen. We have free will, but he wants you to choose Him. He thinks He's worth it.
(Since He created everything and allowed you the opportunity to exist in this realm) Its not that we live, its how we choose to live.

Think of it like a relationship wit a girl.
Thats your girl but you dont call her (pray), spend time with her ( read ), you dont do what she likes ( His will).
When you run into her, you think she gonna give you the sacred yambz?
This doesn't really address my concern, though. Why do we deserve  punishment when we had no choice in life to begin with? God created man and realized he made a huge mistake. That is god's fault, not man's. We wouldn't sin if we didn't exist and we wouldn't exist if god didn't create us. Is god really this illogical?
2.Salvation is granted to everyone. But God never forces anything on you. So you have to accept it. Its your decision. We all cant take a gift we all dont want.
As I pointed out above, I was forced into life. We all were. No one had a choice in being born. If god can force you into life, why can't he force salvation onto you?

There's nothing to believe or disbelieve in that Saturn example though

If I can see something that has a physical form, I can't truthfully tell myself "That object does not exist." It's a fact that can't be disputed

:smh: It honestly upsets me how someone's beliefs can be trashed like this. As a lifelong Christian, there are numerous things about atheism that I don't know how people accept. But I will never talk down on someone because of what they believe, no matter how ridiculous I might find it.

Everyone has their reasons for what they believe, and there are multiple valid reasons why people find it hard to put faith in any religion. Child molestation, the hypocrisy in the Church, traditions/teachings that aren't even based on the Bible that religions claim, crazy things people who claim Christianity say(as seen in this thread) along with scriptures that seem to be contradictions found in the Bible that religious people don't/can't explain properly. The "God is a mystery" fallacy etc. But at the same time, there are also numerous reasons that people put faith in God.

I usually stay out of these threads, because as I said it's honestly upsetting, but anyone with serious questions about the Bible I'll be glad to answer. I'll just ignore anyone bashing religion.

Dude just keep that poison away from other people's children and I don't have a problem with you.

I don't know what what you said has to do with being scientifically illiterate. Keep it away from my classrooms I don't want my kids growing up stupid.

Yea I'll stop telling children to do good on to others, give money to the poor, be great to your parents/ control your anger/ be humble. Yea that poison is something the youth definitely doesn't need

Personally, I don't look down on people who believe in something but also are open to other beliefs/ways of thinking.

What they shouldn't do is say "My way is the only way, you're an idiot for thinking differently / deserve death" It's that type of mentality that I can't stand. Like I said, that's the same justification my people and many other Europeans used to rape and pillage most of the world.

I mean, the thought process back then was literally this:

"Are you sure that we should invade their lands, rape their women, steal their gold, and sell their kids into slavery? Seems pretty inhuman"
"Uhhh...the Bible says that anyone who doesn't believe in our God isn't fully human so....."
"Aight then let's go"

Who the hell is a Christian to tell a Hindu "your gods are false, mine is real" or vice versa? There is no proof at all that either of them exist. Both religions are just different ways/theories of interpreting the world and are two of THOUSANDS of religions that have existed for the past 200000 years.

Yea you can do this without poisoning their minds with ignorance. All these values can be taught without religion.

True but that's what islam teaches me to do. Actions speak louder than words I guess. If you don't believe in religion than I guess you cannot enforce that on "other peoples children " either. Let them find their own path. It would only be fair.

Personally I am always open to having respectful conversations with people with different belief systems, whether it's atheism, creationism, Muslim, Hindu, whatever. However, based upon what I've learned in my short 21 years on this planet, what I've seen, experienced as to regards the Holy Spirit and it's out workings, I have zero doubts in my mind about what I believe. But I do agree with you about that mentality some most religious people have.

I guess we agree to disagree, great discussion. Seeing other peoples perspective is intriguing. Be easy

What were you initially, meaning your family? What religions did you look into and why did you pick Islam?

lol yea, will YOU do that with your children. Will YOU let them find their own path?

You're mistaken if you think I'm advocating forcing atheism on anyone, I'm advocating keeping the discussion out of the classroom completely. If you want to discover spirituality there are various churches and temples for that. And I'm not forcing atheism or religion on my children, I will let them find their own path.....that's more than most religious people will be willing to do. You will never hear a Muslim say, I will let my child find his own religion. Religion will fail to thrive without indoctrination from a young age. The best way to create an atheist is to give them every religious scripture and teach them to think logically and objectively.

Hmm good question. Well since I am a practicing muslim I'm sure my future children will see me do things muslims do naturally seeing their parent do something. I was born a "Muslim" but never practiced until I did my own searching. Sure if my kids want to do their own soul searching they are entitled to do that. I would rather have my children come to me one day interested to learn about religion rather than hate it because I forced it down on them. I applaud atheists, when life is horrible/ immense tragedy happens, prayer is the only thing that keeps me level headed.

Born
What were you initially, meaning your family? What religions did you look into and why did you pick Islam?

Raised as a muslim. Never Practiced, hated islam actually. Life wasn't "fun", I didn't know what I was saying In prayer, everything was black n white. I wanted to do whatever I wanted to do and nobody could tell me anything.
One day I was smoking with some buddies and asked myself if I died this instant where would I go? This brought me to a journey through many religions
Christianity. Why not try it. Everyone I know is a Christian. Based on example they have a great time! Looked I to it further and found something's I disagreed with. Or discrepancies when talking to many different priests. They all gave me different answers.
This goes for Protestant, catholic and so on.
Judaism - the self entitlement and the "us vs them" mentality I cousin agree with. Disagrees with many things in the Torah Some other things but this is getting to be quit a read.
Buddhism. Disagreed with the portrayal of god/ man gods seemed blasphemous to me. Some things I agree with though.
I chose islam because it made sense to me. The consistency is what really intrigued me. Now some things I disagree with how some Muslims act yes. But Islam gives me this sense of peace that I cannot explain. But I have become a way better person since practicing this faith.

this chick i know is really hot but she sucks..

shes so damn boring and overall just oblivious to anything.

this was her FB status tonight.

"Can't STAND when ppl throw the fact that I'm a Christian in my face. Like I'm not allowed to EVER get mad or anything. It's so ridiculous —
wQg06LtE9ig.png
feelingpissed off."

me: those people are called christians.

her: what people?

indifferent.gif

this is her.
I don't believe in the white man's God but I would wear robes, Jesus sandals and a Bible around my neck to get up in that thang.

lol you're going to bring your children to the mosque right? :\

When immense tragedy happens atheists confide in friends, family, music, counseling, art, group therapy, helping others who may be going through the same ordeal etc. Just because you need to pray to an imaginary being to deal with tragedy doesn't mean everyone needs to. They don't need your fake egotistical applause.

Sure why not, just like you're not going to show them any religious places of worship. We can go back and forth all day but we ultimately agree to disagree.
I was being serious actually. It takes a strong person to not rely on a higher being. No mockery. You can bash my religion all you want but I am taught to respect others. Be easy

This doesn't really address my concern, though. Why do we deserve punishment when we had no choice in life to begin with? God created man and realized he made a huge mistake. I think I understand your concern. Your saying : If we are sinners and sinners deserve judgement, why are we set up to fail? If that is what your asking, we dont have to live in sin. We make mistakes but if we can acknowledge them, learn from them and try to avoid them then that is true repentance. Calling ourselves sinners is not even accurate. We possess the capability to sin ( and do so often and easily) but we dont have to. Thats like calling a race car driver a speeder. Yea they do 200 mph for a living but that dont mean they do that everyday.

Your werent forced into life. You are the result of your mother and fathers decision ( or lack there of : no diss, but lot of kids are unplanned. )
