Johnandrew00 Restorations & Sole Swaps

What do you use to shave down a donor midsole if it's too big? Also, I'm trying to remove as much of the vintage midsole and glue as I can but I can't seem to get it all off. I've been steaming and scraping the glue off but there's always something left over. Any suggestions?

Signed 1989 Air Jordan White Cement IV Midsole swapped:

Everything that I've done until now is proof that you can turn your passion into a successful business. Never in my life would I have thought to repair an original Air Jordan signed by the GOAT himself. They are also a size 13 (which is his size).
They may or may not be his game worn pair but for someone to give me the dual signed pair to repair is still unbelievable.

I struggled to acquire the proper dimensions of the original sole because the faux leather is too brittle. I had to perform intricate measurements and calculations to ensure the fitment will be just right.

Matching the paint color of the cement grey and the oxidized leather was a bit of a challenge in itself. Finally, after the long process of making sure the 2006 donors fit accordingly to the 1989 soles, the project is finished.

Crazy. Hands down the best restoration and swap jobs Ive seen. Wish I would of seen this thread a few months ago before I tossed and donated 20+ kicks.

If you don't mind what are your rates (ballpark range)? Gonna hit my storage and see what old jordans I can find.

Keep up the great work

Wow your craftsmanship is absolutely incredible. I hope to one day be able to obtain similar results. I was wondering if you would be able to divulge what type of clamps you find best to use when re-attaching the outsole? I have a few different types I've used and gotten wavering results with. Can't wait to see more of your incredible work in the near future.

Your restorations are defiently top tier :pimp:

Although I don't believe those would be a game worn pair becuase one of Jordan's feet is bigger than the other.
So he wore one 13 and a 13.5

I'm working on a pair of Jordan IV Breds. I'm in the process of repainting the midsoles now.

Anybody have recommendations for:

---The grey is starting to show a bit of yellow. I think I saw one video of someone repainting the grey but they didn't show the results, so idk...is there a deep cleaning method for this?
---Best method for cleaning the nubuck? I've got dirt and dust out via toothbrush and rag so far. Looking better, but what other options do I have to get the black color back?

Thanks guys!

I'm no expert but...I woudnt recommend repainting the grey rubber if that's what your talking about.
I believe you can use the same oxidation method ppl use on clear soles to get rid of the yellow.

No real expert way to clean nubuck other than a suede/nubuck cleaner.
As far as restoring color you would have to use a suede dye...but ive never saw anyone do that and make itnwodk.

Broo where do u get the new soles after they've crumbled. Everyone is only saying what pairs crumble but where can i actually purchase new mid soles. Like the 11s for example. Pleasee help

You can't purchase new midsoles on their own.

You have to find a donor pair.

For example...if you do restorations on alot of Jordan 4s...you will probly keep a eye on flight 89s at the outlets for a good deal, and then cop multiple pairs.

There's no specific place to buy them unless somebody randomly puts up a midsole by itself on ebay, which is kinda rare. Your gonna have to find a cheap pair online of whatever midsole your tying to swap.

Since you wanted to use the 11's as an example, you could find a beat pair of futures and just take the midsole from them.

Firstly..I appreciate the fast response ..and thanks a lot for the info..it sucks that they aren't sold but it is what it is..THANKS BRO

Ahhhh just when i was wondering where can I buy some dummy 11s..thank a lot man i appreciate it

When swapping a pair of 5s do the midsoles need to be the same size or can i go half a size up?

Same size man, it'll be too big otherwise. You could say the the same thing for going half a size down, it'll be way too small.

If you don't have one yet then you can find a best pair of son of mars on eBay and take the midsole from there.

Whats the best way to remove an outsole? I have a Jordan 5 and the midsole is already off i just cant seem to get the outsole off and i dont have a heat gun or a steamer

Are you talking about removing the clear parts of the sole?

I've never seen anyone do that but I would assume a hear gun or steamer would be needed
