SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A woman faces charges of child abuse after she allegedly left her two young children in a car while she went for a job interview.

According to a Scottsdale police report, someone heard a child crying inside a Dodge Durango parked in an office complex parking lot near Via Linda and 91st Street around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the engine was turned off, the doors were closed and each of the four windows was opened only slightly.

Police say the vehicle was parked in direct sunlight and the children, 2 years old and 6 months old, were alone.

The bystander called police and officers and firefighters responded.

Police say 35-year-old Shanesha Taylor returned to the vehicle about 45 minutes after the passerby found the unattended boys.

Taylor told officers she had just finished a job interview and did not have anyone to take care of her children, according to the police report.

She was arrested and booked into jail for child abuse.

Police say Child Protective Services took custody of the children.

A local woman has started an online fundraising page to help Shanesha Taylor.

"There are a lot of us who feel she was just a victim to what an economy like this is putting struggling families through," said Amanda Bishop, who organized the fundraiser. The fundraising page can be found here.

:smh:
its like damn not sure how to feel
like i understand
but just damn its messed up

Last place I'd wanna be is in a turned off car in AZ though... Hot as hell as is, those cars bake out there.

I'll stay outta this one
I can understand why she did what she did, but she could've done it in a better way.
And if she couldn't find someone to watch them for a job interview, how she gon find someone to watch em when she goes to work if she gets that job?
Imma stay outta this one tho, cus u gotta hear both sides

Yo, this is real life ****** up.

Now she f_ up by leaving the car in direct sunlight, could've at least found a tree or something or left the A/C on.

But at the very least she was trying to get a job so she could provide the minimums. Just straight lethal.

Still don't understand why she would have kids though if she couldn't provide.. Wonder that of everyone in her situation.

With the job she could at least afford the cheapest daycare in her area.

Maybe she was between jobs. Also, someone would still have called the police if it was a 60 degree day

So to have your AC on you need the car to be on. Youre saying you would leave a 2 yr old and a 6 month old children in a car with it on? For someone to steal or what?

You can't leave your kids unattended for any amount of time at that age. Especially for something like a job interview which is usually something you have no idea how long it'll take. And in a hot car? No common sense. But this happens all the time.

Who is getting these women pregnant?

back on topic:

If she left the kids in the car for an interview than who is going to watch the kids before her first check?

There should be no reason to leave small childern in a car.

Oh ye of all answers.

Please enlighten this humble disciple on what you would've done homeless with no relatives or anyone to watch the kids in her situation.

cmon man let people have they own opinions even if u dont agree

Yeah my friend told me one night after coming from the gym that he reported a child left in a car and I was like dude you really did that?! It was maybe 79 degrees or so. It almost turned into a big fight.

I got left in cars all the time growing up, so I'm bias. I don't deny that  2 years and 6 months is way too young to be doing that but since this got criminalized, that one phone call can have parents in jail and their kids placed in a home. Not to mention you now have a conviction to explain to future employers. You're changing the course peoples entire lives! For something that 95% of the time isn't  a big deal. Kids don't have a choice but if I had to deal with all that drama in my life because of one person who didn't even know me and gets to go on and live their life, I would resent them even as the victim.

repped
exactly how i feel

:frown: Dat mug shot.

My grandmother did the same thing. She left my sisters in the car to go look at furniture, they fell asleep and someone called the police. She didn't go to jail, doe. The police just bought my sisters in the store.

Dude directly replied to me

I'm just saying. She foregoes the interview as she has no one to watch the kids.... She remains broke. She remains homeless. The cycle continues as if she had the option of someone watching them clearly she'd have took it.

It's a terrible situation in all regards and the kids obviously have it worse off.

Never said I had the perfect answer but your suggestion of leaving a car on was dumb.

Don't think most jobs would look down upon someone bring their kids along to an interview if that is their only option.

Anything is better than leaving them alone for 45 mins.

You're attaching your characteristics to the employer and gambling on an unknown variable.

Don't think I need to explain more.

Yes they would. If you're bringing your kids to your interview, will you be bringing them to work when you can't find someone to watch them?
