HBO's Silicon Valley - First Episode Up on YouTube

 Wow talking about Tami g Ls.

 @ Big Head getting half a mil and then owning half of Pied Piper which is worth even more. Son stay lucking in to money.

A couple of things I didnt like about the finale.

1. Why was there an ad for Code Rag as someone's wallpaper in the Hooli building? I would understand if Gavin bought it before he got blackmailed, but he bought it after.

2. I know I've beaten this point into the ground, but I want to turn off the tv when Nelson or Laurie start talking.

3. I will be in the minority on this one, but I am getting tired of the whole "we are going to lose Pied piper narrative" they keep going with. They made the point the first couple of times, but this company just keeps changing hands to add to the drama that isnt as powerful anymore. Did anyone here think this was the actual end of Pied Piper? I would like them to go another route to bring back the drama of the first two seasons, and even in the middle of this one with that ******* box

Other than that, I really enjoyed this episode. My favorite part is by the pool when Gil and Dinesh give Richie the USB

+1 one on not liking the finale but the season was pretty enjoyable.

I got a similar feeling of how Entourage always had this big disaster happen and then all of a sudden in half an episode this quick fix happens out of nowhere and everyone is happy again. :rolleyes

This.

I wouldn't say a quick fix happened in the end. The animals has Bering a running thing with Gavin. The elephant showed up last ep. The eager security guard been here all season. Blogger chick been screwing Gavin and the payday.

It just worked out at the right time conveniently.

I'm starting to feel the same way. Company is going to ****, and out of nowhere the video chat works really well.

To be fair pied pipers compression algorithm is nothing without a practical application than could be used in enterprise and consumer market. Basically Microsoft was able to accomplish this in real life with purchasing skype and integrating OCS/Lync. Their smart move was taking skype for business as a webex (huge revenue generator) alternative.

Look how they were selling pied piper as a cloud storage solution essentially. Look at the concept of the box which was solely enterprise driver. Pied piper video allows the company do still work on the compression algorithm and technology while being able to generate large revenues from the video service. Eventually it could spin off to be licensed as something like the box but being able to do both enterprise and consumer products is likely how we will see the next season go.

You can compare middle out to map and reduce.

I get the tech talk about how the vid chat is beneficial. I was cool with that.

The part that bugged me was how the company got first initially sold to the hooli guy but then at the last second they sell it to their friends for a $1.00 difference. In the previous episodes it showed that she always looked for the better deal when she bought back the stocks at the cheapest price possible.

The finale wouldn't be a happy ending but i would of liked to see it beeing bought by hooli and how they overcome that. :nerd:

It's not really out of nowhere.

The algorithm can make anything great it's just what function you use and how you apply it. It takes time though to put in work in one area just to switch to something else.

The platform served a lot of purposes it's just ppl were too dumb to get and Rich couldn't sell it. There are easier things like the box and vidchat but it takes to e to set up and make great.

Erlich's story of how he landed the VC meeting was epic though. I didn't get it the first time because he was name-dropping like a mother, but upon a second viewing, it was hilarious
