The Roots dropped the first single off their upcoming album "And Then You Shoot Your Cousin" today. Track sounds dope and I am excited about the concept of this album.

These guys never disappoint and are the most consistent act in hip-hop hands down.

Beat is underwhelming.

Black Thought though

Didn't like this song that much, still looking forward to the album. I play Undun every now and then

Since I already bought the album I listened to the stream twice. I like this album and it is solid but not as strong as some of their latest albums. This album has really good songs but I think there are too many interludes that make the album feel disjointed especially since many of the tracks are already short. Also there are some songs with only singing that are good but I definitely felt could have been enhanced with a BlackThought verse (especially the final song on the album).

I have to give this a few more listens. Definitely some standouts (Never, Black Rock, Understand, The Dark, Unraveling, and Tomorrow) but upon first two listens I would give this a 3.75/5.

What do you guys think of this album?

I could have done without Dies Irae, but the album is really compelling. I like that I've picked up on something new upon every playthrough. That satirical look on rap is really refreshing.

Black Rock might be my favorite. Black Milk used that sample previously and I've been in love with it since.

will purchase the album when it comes out...for consistency alone the roots deserve my money

I've still gotta give this a few more spins. I do like the album and its concept with the satirical view on hip-hop. I agree Dies Irae is a complete waste of time.
