My judgement of season 2 will solely be based on if they tie any of this crap together.

I am reading through this thread later today, im sure its been posted, but any theories on the opening scene with the cave people? Like with death comes life or some biblical nonsense?

So far its trying way to hard to be "artistic" or "edgy". Like all i ask is just make sense. Stop throwing 100000 things in to confuse people that may or may not serve any purpose at all.

Bird in the box grand ma story
Nora lense story
Daughter and neighbor boy story
Palm reader guy story
Black dad in the trailor story
Tom and the cult
Mom and her book
John being crazy
The daughter disappearing
KEvin being crazy
The priest guy banging his vegetable wife
The crazy guy on the tower
Liv Tyler the rapist

Like i know i missed a bunch but thats just off the top of my head. Every episode inches part of a storyline ahead. Nothing get accomplished and more and more stuff keeps adding to it. Like lets wait 3 episodes to explain the goat killing guy....uh ok...that was stupid and unnecessary. A small aside when it happened the first time would have been fine. But the suspense...for the sake of suspense is played out with this show

At this point I'm enjoying the show for the better acting and strong writing.

Even if the writing is storytelling that doesn't give any definitive conclusions/answers/endings. I can look past all the **** they throw against the wall and not be distracted or annoyed by it anymore.

If anything to me S2 seems way more cohesive compared to how aimless S1 felt.

Knowing how all over the place season 1 was and how it definitely left a lot of things unanswered i think that has helped me enjoy season 2 more. Like i know some things will go unanswered and are just there for shock or suspense and don't carry any heavy story plots.

I remember watching season one and looking at it like it was true detective and waiting for things to piece together and when they didn't i was like what the hell

But i still enjoy the season but im def watching it with a better mindset then season 1

I like season 2 solely on the fact that I don't have anything to compare it to(the book) which it was nothing like and very incohesive, especially if you haven't read the book. It seems season 1 was a setup for this more cohesive season 2 which i understand, like we had to see and understand the pain everyone went through with the departures before they jumped into a better form of storytelling.
We wouldn't feel how we felt about the pastor without that season 1 episode or appreciate Nora's character without seeing what she had to go through. To me it's something I only had to see once so season 1 has no replay value to me. Season2 on the other hand depending on how it ends, I may have to rewatch it for the clues that led up to wherever they are going end season 2

This might be the biggest jump up in quality from a 1st season of any show I have ever seen. Seriously, I went from not even wanting to continue to watch it at the end of last season to this being one of my favorite shows.

Just caught up.

Had the same sentiment on each episode this season.

Really digging this season so far

Anyone else get the Virgil character mixed up with the Issac character

Both are trying to deliver their message, say their piece

Old man offed himself to be his guild.

Damn, that last scene was intense.

I thought it was gonna go like John finds out that was Kevin's print and he blasts him for lying, causing Kevin to die and battle it out with Patti...then...ummm...Erika would bury Kevin in a box wishing Evie to return, which happens alongside Mary waking up, Jill getting smashed, & Eddie Winslow high 5ing John into believing...something like that.

did the grandson know that this was the plan all along? was he trying to set up kevin?

how kevin gonna survive that?

will we see the "battle" next week?

im starting to think "patty" might be related to his wife leaving and joining the gr

like she said she dont be around and dont say nothing about laurie

at least we found out why kevin was in the lake

only mystery now is the running in the woods scene i think

I won't even get back into the Hugs are real convo but,
Just as I thought, I didn't think the show would tell us as blatantly as they told us though.

Wayne was just as fake as Tommy and Laurie. People made the hugs real by breathing life into them.

So, was Patty trying to convince Kevin that Virgil was molesting his grand son so she could stop him temporarily dying and ridding himself of her.

I mean it looks like the plan was for the Virgil to kill himself to be Kevin's guide(why he'd sacrifice himself just for Kebin is beyond me though, unless it's penance for hurting his son John) and the grandson looks to be assisting in that effort.

The shocked look on his face(the kid) when Keving opened the door was fear of what they were about to do, not the look of being molested, right?

But Virgil couldn't have offed himself to be Kevins guide, or else he wouldn't have poured out the adrenaline shot before he killed himself.

Yea man, WTF

Just started the episode..and thinking how ****** weird it would be seeing some person you never wanna see again every single moment of your life

Well Jills back to being annoying as hell

edit:

bruh, wtf did I just watch

Damn .. Jill wants it bad bruh, Michael holdin out

This was good intense episode.

So im thinking either Patti is that archangel those scientists reference, or Patti isnt real like Laurie says and its something Kevin is holding on to (his conscious).

I said it last week that Tom went back to the GR. He's hooked on Meg

Wonder what the history is between John & his old man. Obviously being Fire Chief in that town gives you more pull than the cops, John running his own investigation with finger print scanners.

There was prob nothing but water in that syringe. Drinking the poison must be old mans solution to the voices n just killing yourself, how else will kevin be able to come back?

Im surprised Laurie held it together after see the baby walker n the "family" photo. And to think all this time Kevin still thinks she was talking about a puppy.

The girls, or maybe just Evie, are back prob in the finale

Cant wait tosee what Micahel said holy sh** about

I think the grandson knew because Virgil told him. He said God be wth you when he walked out. He also waited somewhere near the house then came back in. Theres obviously something up since he had to pull Kevin outside vs just leaving him there seeing as no one but Michael ever goes to visit him.

Patti was the reason Laurie left. Basically I see it as Patti was the leader of the GR, she was Laurie's patient and told her about all her feelings etc her husband cheating n stuff. Her husband must be one of the departed so up comes the idea of the cult. Laurie gets sucked in to the idea (she was in command when Patti went missing), Patti prob filled her head with all kinds of stuff about Kevin.

I do remember at one point in season 1 Patti said something to Laurie or Kevin about him cheating or doing something fowl in their marriage.

Maybe Patti isnt real but a product of the anger/sadness Kevin has from Laurie leaving. Whenever he saw Laurie in season 1 Patti was always right there.

Anyone catch patty's pedophile comment about Virgil when she was trying to talk Kevin out of killing himself?

So I guess John shot his father for molesting one of his kids...I'm guessing Evie since the brother was still going to see him.

Or maybe Virgil molested John as a child and he finally snapped

Yeah i think it was this. Because Virgil said he hurt him, and John hurt him back. So John at some point snapped and shot him.

I came to that conclusion based on Erica's interaction with her son about how angry John would be if he found out that their son was seeing Virgil. I think she would be equally as upset if not more so if Virgil molested Evie.

A few things I just read in an article :nerd:

As Virgil tells it, after he was shot by John, he returned from death cleansed of sin. Which explains what John meant in “Axis Mundi” when he said of his attempted murder charge, “I didn’t try hard enough.” It also explains why John is such an anti-believer; he can’t abide the idea that God would save the man who caused him such pain. (Knowing that John may have been the victim of abuse also sheds some light on why John previously got so irked when Matt refused to admit he raped Mary.)

As previously noted, Virgil’s name evokes “The Divine Comedy.” In that epic poem, Virgil is Dante’s spiritual guide through hell and purgatory, a journey that eventually leads Dante to Earthly Paradise, a.k.a. the Garden (Jardin?) of Eden. Virgil says more than once in this episode that he needs to be Kevin’s “guide” to the other side and back.

All this evidence suggests that Kevin (and presumably Virgil) will become the equivalent of the bird in Erika’s shoe box. My guess is that Chief Garvey will be dead for three days, then re-emerge
